Ordered some chicken samosas for my kids - they could not taste any meat. Went back to ask if I had the right product and was told: we use a bit of ground chicken for flavour ... Went here recently. Ordered chicken samosa and vege samosa and alloo tikhi. The tikhi tasted of stinking, stale oil, and the potato inside was not cooked properly. The vege samosa was mostly dough -- some potato inside but not much. The chicken samosa was exactly the same as the vege one -- no chicken whatsoever. The owners yelled at me and called me the F word for complaining about this. In fact, the male owner was prepared to hit me and was restrained by the cooks. They also overcharged me for everything by 4 dollars. They took my credit card and tapped it without my permission (which is fraud). This is the most pathetic excuse of a business I've ever seen. If you want to be treated like garbage, verbally abused, given stale and uncooked food, and then ripped off and threatened with bodily harm, please give these fine folks a visit. read more

Portions are extremely small, terrible service, the restroom were right next to the tables. It makes you want to lose your appetite. The lady charged us a $15 service fee because "we didn't order enough food and, they served us water and we used their restrooms" the lady and the man were really rude. I don't recommend this restaurant especially after a long drive with the kids. Go enjoy a place where they are happy to serve you. read more

Definitely not a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal - it lacks Ambiance. That being said, the food is authentic, delicious and SO SO good. The missing star is only because of the ambiance but I usually take it to go. Don't skip the samosas! read more

We ordered 3 Golgapa plates and 5 plates of veg samosa and channa. Golgapa were already cracked and the taste of the starter was so disgusting because it was very salty. It felt like eating table spoons of salt. Veg samosas and channa were made with very poor quality. It wasn't fresh , felt like old food. We lost our appetite and we couldn't even eat half. Food was cooked by unprofessional chef with no experience. We got sick from the food. They charge too much for poor quality food that doesn't even taste good. I really like Bisla. It is more in the cafe style than a plush restaurant. But the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly. I almost always get the vegetarian thali and unfailingly enjoy it. People's tastes are different, of course. But the negative reviews on this site seem very harsh to me. I am not Indian, but I grew up in Asia and eat a lot of Indian food. And I think Bisla stands up well. And, on a related note, do readers understand how difficult it is to actually get a restaurant running in Squamish? The extortionate fees charged by the town and the foot-dragging bureaucracy? It's a miracle this place exists at all. I'm certainly glad it does. read more

This little place is definitely lacking ambience. Butter chicken is definitely from a can and very tomatoey tasting. It's not a good tomato flavour either and not worth $14.99. You get such a small portion too; it's like a mini portion of butter chicken. Pretty sure we have bought that butter chicken sauce in a supermarket and made it at home before. Veggie samosa channa were okay but I'm not going to rave about them. Samosa filling had good flavour but they seemed more soggy than crispy. I'm not going back for more. Do not order butter chicken!! Eh. I've had better. Had the 'thali' specials. I've had various thalis before and I was surprised to in find that in this place for 'fish curry' thali all you get is a dish of 4 pieces of fish and naan. No daal, no chutney, or yogurt. Pricy for $11. Samosas to go are $1 a piece. Pretty good deal even when they're mostly potatoes. Curt service. The lady wouldn't even bother explaining what all the various squares and balls of desserts are. read more

Sadly, we no longer go to this "restaurant". We prefer to drive the 15 minutes to another Indian restaurant than walk the 4 minutes to Bisla. Service is terrible (the worst we've ever had at any restaurant). The young son is the only thing that makes ordering bearable, he is kind and attentive. The food is overpriced and is most certainly not fresh. Samosas have been made even smaller since they moved to a different location (and the price went up). The mother and father who own the restaurant are very rude and condescending (and since they own and drive one of the most expensive Mercedes SUVs available they are obviously doing well) ...perhaps they feel like they dont have to give good customer service because they have no competition in the downtown core of Squamish? Oh and the sweets cost 3x the price compares to anywhere else in the GVA. read more

I have always liked this place until last night I ate a piece of glass coming from the tandoori chicken. Chocked I immediately told the owner and showed the piece of glass. She never apologized insisted on me to still pay for it and worst of all she insinuated that I placed the chunk of glass myself. Do yourself a favour don't waste your time and go straight to essence of india! read more

I am Indian and I know what good authentic Indian food is and this place is meh. The food was lacking flavor. Probably the canned stuff. The meat tasted old and dry. A friend was sick the next day. I won't be going back here. Service is definitely lacking as well. Lacks ambience too. read more

My wife and I stopped in for dinner after a long day of bouldering and the place was so good we came back the next night! We've been to India quite a few times, and this place smells like India, sounds like India (cheesy Bollywood movies playing in the background, sanskrit chanting emanating from a boombox by the register), smells like Indian spices, and feels like India (expect barebones, dive atmosphere and warm but relatively curt service). We also checked out another Indian place in town. Bisla had a more authentic feel and taste. Mixed Veggies, Palak Paneer, and Tandoori Chicken, Veggie Korma, Naan all tasty and recommended. Only dud we found was Paneer Pakora, which was pretty dry and kind of flavorless. Warning to the faint of tastebud: medium spicy is probably very spicy in most other restaurants this side of the Pacific. Also if you like ghee and sugar, there is a case full of Indian sweets near the register. read more

Microwaved garbage and the rudest people I've had the misfortune to deal with. Sauces are runny and separated, meat is overcooked and rubbery, woman at the counter is dismissive and downright rude. You can see into the kitchen and the back has dirty pans stacked 3 deep (at 5 in the evening with no customers in the store) as if they're not cleaned between uses and sit there all day. Surprisingly wonderful little family joint. Prices are very low, the food is astonishingly good, the service is friendly and really quick. There are tons of great veggie options. There's a daily special for $11 or so that includes rice, naan, two different mains, and more, it's crazy, like really crazy! The restaurant also doubles as a sort of Indian Deli with deserts and samosas ready to take out. Their veggie samosas are fresh, great and only $1.25 each!
