Hi, my son just came back from getting his hair cut at the Milwaukie Bishops and his hair looks so bad now. The back is all choppy and uneven. The hair doesn't taper down to his neckline and it ends bluntly which doesn't look right and the side burns are super long too. His bangs are cut too short and he's really upset because he showed the stylist pictures of how he wanted his hair to look. His friends go to Bishops but they all get better haircuts so he's very disappointed. read more

If you're looking for a place with great customer service and grace for when you're a few minutes late, this is NOT the place. I know that doctor's offices generally operate by canceling appointments if you're 10min late. And I can understand 7+ minutes late. That's on me. But tonight we were 5min late. Five. My man with the red beard canceled our appointment for that. We've been intermittent customers at Bishops for about 3 years now and have had a decent experience, but after tonight, we will not be back. This is not a high volume salon at 7pm on a weekday nor a super important doctor's office. It's a walk-in barbershop. It was not busy. There was one man waiting for his child. Now generally, I'm very understanding and accountable. Had we really been unfairly late, I would have apologized and rescheduled. I dropped my niece off to run in while I went to park. In the time it took her to get help, hear the guy tell her it was canceled, sit down, and text me that...it was 7:06. See the screen shot below. By the time I parked and got in there, the guy rudely tried to tell me that of course they cancel appointments when you're 8min late, even though I tried to correct him. He didn't politely try to problem solve or attempt to keep a customer, he just bumped us 25min. My niece is 15 by the way-not an unaccompanied young child. I also don't see a "Late Policy" on their website. Why does this matter so much? I inherited my niece after a death and am trying my best to learn to be a single parent and juggle everything. We were school supply shopping and I was trying to get her a back-to-school haircut by appointment. Could this guy possibly know this about me? No. But that's where the grace part comes in. And my grace for him, a service industry worker who has no doubt been treated poorly at times, went out the window because of how he lambasted me and tried to make it seem like we were later than we were. Decency-it goes both ways and is important now more than ever. Check my review history-normally I don't take the time to write reviews and if I do, it's usually to highly recommend an establishment. Canceling an appointment for being 5min late is absurd and unheard of. Unless you're incredibly punctual and immune to any misfortune that might prevent you from being prompt, don't bother booking here. Especially as customers are apparently expendable. read more

Lacks customer service. Arrived on time for my appointment at the Milwaukie location. There was no other customer in the place. There were three hair stylists chatting at the register. I was asked to take a seat. The stylists moved their chat to the back room. And they chatted and chatted and chatted. I Waited and waited and waited. The worst hair cut experience I've ever had. Asked for a fade on the sides and back and I've got an even buzz cut all over. Stylist seems incredibly uncertain with what I asked for (a 3 fade) but just went ahead and started cutting without asking a single clarifying question. When he showed me the back of my head I legitimately thought I was being pranked. Insanely uneven totally lopsided and when I said "maybe even it out a bit more?" The stylist instantly said oh yes definitely I was just thinking that. Did you not look at your work before presenting it? Lost any and all trust and confidence in his abilities after that so I just left and thought I'd fix it myself. After some adjustments at home I decided to call back the next day because I was just so insanely unsatisfied. Got a girl who was very nice but seemed to not really understand what she was doing. I asked to see someone else obviously and she assured me that wouldn't be a problem. She asked if I could do a time around the same time I had been in the previous day and I made sure to ask very specifically if I could have someone else and if she could make sure of that. She said no problem we will see you then. I'm wondering to myself how she could have possibly known who I had given all she had was my first name but I foolishly decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Get right in without appointment is a clue. Got haircut,short hair,shouldn't be too difficult. It was not a good cut, more a chop. After the cut, the blow dry was just that, no comb or brush used. Went home and styled it myself. To top it off, I was urged to not forget to give a glowing review on Yelp! Good news is it will grow out. read more

I've been wondering for awhile if Bishops was overrated and overpriced. After visiting their Sellwood shop and now this one, in Milwaukie, I'm not impressed. Focusing on the shop in Milwaukie, where I went today... My hair is straight and my typical cut is boring and straightforward. So I was surprised to see uneven tufts of hair when I looked in the mirror at the end of the cut. Since Bishops is a little upscale, I thought I'd treat myself with a shave. The skin conditioning and multiple hot towels were nice. But the disposable cartridge razor she used was decidedly crappy. It pulled on my one day growth of beard. I hate to think what it would have felt like if I'd had a few days' growth going. To her credit, the end result was clean, smooth and soft. But it's not an experience I want to repeat. I don't think I'll be back to any of the Bishop's shops anytime soon. read more

Pretty disappointed. I almost never leave bad reviews but after getting my hair cut 3 times here over the past couple of years I feel like I need to. The stylists are always friendly enough but almost never do what I ask. The last time I showed multiple pictures of the haircut I was going for and instead he cut my bangs very short in comparison and did zero texturing. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. No hair wash, no styling. Nothing. Very over priced for what I got. read more

I am not a person that likes to leave bad reviews as I know the effect on a business. However, I think at this point my only remaining option is to do so. A few months ago I went in for all over black with a couple of peacock under-ear spots. It turned out very beautiful. So I went in a few weeks ago to get my roots touched up (again it was all black and it had grown out some) and to do something with the under ear streaks which obviously and understandably had faded since those were colorful. Even though I hadn't complained, I was informed immediately that the person who did my hair had been fired. Throughout the dying process my hairdresser brought up that the person had "been fired for a reason" when I brought up that I was paying for another full head of dye even though it should have been just a root touch up and then color the two peacock streaks. The explanation seemed to be that the reason it wasn't a root touch up was because of something that the previous (fired) hairdresser had done. Well anyhow we went black all over and I asked if we could do something different with the two streaks. I was very understanding that there was little that my hair would allow. With all the color options I wanted being unable to be done (no fault of the salon, my hair doesn't like bright colors) I decided let's just color those in black too and that I would just stop trying to put fun colors in my hair. My hairdresser wouldn't stop bringing up the person who was fired and seemed to blame my fading black color on them, but then didn't cover the other streak at all, left it completely untouched. I mentioned it while I was in the tub something like "I don't even remember you doing that side" but thought maybe I was just imagining her missing it. Well when I got home and saw my hair was dried there was a huge patch of yellow beneath my right ear. This second hairdresser was admittedly very nice and gave me some solid tips but did not ensure that she covered the other under-ear spot while she was complaining about the previous hairdresser. I mean the final decision was just to do all over black and I have a wild, large, mustard colored streak under my right ear. At this point I don't want to go back because I can't afford to keep coming in paying multiple hundreds of dollars for something that clearly isn't happening and my hair is already reverting to brown again even though I have been washing once or twice per week with only cold water and products they recommended. Overall I think it was unprofessional to complain about another hairdresser while totally missing something directly in front of them and then charge me for a full head of color when by their own admission the previous hairdresser was the one who didn't do it right in the first place. Almost $600 spent here between two trips and I won't be able to get that money back for my brown hair which should be black. The previous (fired) hairdresser's color lasted much longer than this person's. I'm very frustrated and out of a lot of money. I don't remember black hair being so difficult to achieve in previous salons I've visited. My hair has never minded being black so I don't know what they are using that it's fading so quickly and I think they could stand to take financial ownership of their previous hairdresser's mistakes, if they were mistakes at all because the second hairdresser did the same exact thing. read more

Daniella is amazing, she did such a fantastic job on my hair and her customers service is on point like an archer. She deserves a raise. She was super friendly and helpful and she also wasn't pushy and she didnt try and upsell me a bunch of shit, which in turn made me buy product from her. I just had the absolute BEST hair experience at Bishop Milwaukie with Farm! She was so attentive, asked questions to figure out exactly what I wanted, consulted and informed me every step of the way, and ultimately had me leaving feeling like a million bucks. She was friendly, professional, and above all super talented with color and cut - I can't recommend her highly enough! Plus, the no-appointments model that Bishop has is awesome for a millennial like me who has zero ability or desire to schedule a hair appointment months in advance. My husband had long hair to his shoulders he and took photos in as an example of the trim and shaping he wanted. Now my husband basically has short hair - they took like 4 inches off of what was supposed to be a trim. Very disappointed. What is the point of bringing in photos when they are completely ignored? My husband is too nice to say anything but he's really bummed out. He will need to spend a year trying to get his length back. 2 days before I leave to Mexico for vacation I get my haircut at Bishops in Milwaukie. I walk in and the hairstylist looks half awake at 10:00 in the morning. I just need my sides trimmed tight and ask for a #2. She then proceeds to blend my hair up, leaving it too long at the top, then uses thinning shears on top, which I never asked for, and doesn't clean up around my ears. By the time I got home I considered it a complete fail for what should be a very easy buzz cut. The next day (the day before I leave) I go to the Mississippi location by my work and ask if they can fix it. Not only do they have no time for me, they tell me that a recut has to happen at the original location by the same barber or their manager. So inconvenient! I'm standing right there in their shop needing a haircut right then before my trip. Needless to say I went to Rudy's Barbershop 2 blocks away and they promptly got me in and even apologized for my experience at Bishops. Who does that!?! The customer service between these two shops couldn't be more polar opposite. Unlikely I'll ever return to Bishops. read more

The positive thing is that you can just walk-in and get an immediate hair cut. Now the negative points. I unfortunately got a bad haircut (short cut for men). The lady that cut my hair tried very hard, but she made several mistakes. My fade on the left side is too high, the right top of my head has "holes" because it wasn't shortened equally with the scissors and the left part of my fringe is way longer than the rest. The nice lady needed 4-5 minutes for my fades, 4-5 minutes to shorten my hair with scissors and 4-5 minutes to trim my beard. So for only 12-15 minutes (with mistakes) I paid 38$ (3$ tip). My wife corrected the fringe, but "the holes" will be gone thankfully when my hair grows.. the lady was very motivated, so I d encourage her to train more. My "main barber" from home dries and styles the hair when he is done and then "looks" for mistakes and corrects them immediately.. because most mistakes you ll see when you wash, dry and style the hair. Spending a little more time and more accuracy would be recommended.. read more
