Very pretty beach with trails in the oldest part of Hope. We always visit this beach when we visit Hope for several reasons- one, it's next to our favorite bakery, two, there is adequate parking and toilets if needed, three, the trails are easy to access and very pretty! I love meandering the beach looking at the weird kelp, rocks and other items that wash up on the beach here. Beach combing here is so fun and fascinating! read more

Gorgeous. Going during low tide makes for fun beach combing. Not as windy as the spit, so on a weekend with less than gorgeous weather we were able to stay out a lot longer and enjoy the amazing Homer vistas and scenery. read more

Nice walk at low tide. I can't really say "I'm a fan". Yes, the view of the mountains was great. It was probably the best part of the beach. People-watching was possible, too, as locals showed up with kids and dogs. Some of the dogs were having a blast. I ended up spending some time watching an eagle scratch around in the sand, and managed to get a few nice photos when it took flight and left. Yes, soak in the scenery. Very relaxing. I imagine at high tide it's not nearly as cool because you can't really walk onto the flats. Afterwards we walked up the road and visited the Two Sisters Bakery. A pleasant day. read more

Hands down our favorite spot in Homer! The beach is located in downtown Homer just steps from Two Sisters Bakery which if you have seen my review you will know it is also a favorite! The beach itself is easily accessible both in the summer and winter and any season in between. At low tide you can explore tide pools and hunt for treasures. The multitude of different types of rocks on the beach is interesting enough to spend hours exploring. We particularly like to go in the winter when we can have the beach mostly to ourselves outside of a few locals. The views are absolutely breathtaking of Kachemak State Park locates across the bay. You can take a long walk or simply park your vehicle feet from a piece of driftwood where you can take a seat and soak in a sunrise or sunset. This is a must stop spot if you are visiting Homer! read more

A beautiful beach! It's fun to come here and beach comb/look for goodies. It's also a great place come and take pictures/family pictures. It was super chilly and windy, but beautiful none the less. You can also walk to it from a few restaurants nearby (two sisters and wild honey) read more

A beach is what you make of it. Plenty of free parking available on and off the sand. I went during low tide to see any sea creatures but only found a dead crab . However if you like to collect shells and rocks this a great beach. Watch out for when the tide comes back, it's fast! Many people had their dogs, some on and off leash. read more

Bishop's Beach is a beach-combing and walking beach to soak in the sweeping views of Kachemak Bay. All those mountains across the bay are active volcanoes. While other places have seagulls, here there are majestic eagles, which frequent the skies and land on the beach to check out food opportunities. The grey sand mixed with round beachstones goes for miles, not that you have to do that as it all kinda looks the same. You won't be swimming here. It is shallow, shallow, shallow, and I think it's quicksand under the water from the glacial silt and sand mix. Too cold also. Be content to look at it -- it's one of the best views in the world. Access to Bishop's Beach is two blocks from Old Town at the end of Bunnell Street. From Sterling Highway going west, just past W. Pioneer Avenue, go right on Ohlson Lane and go left on Bunnell Street. Facilities are a picnic shelter with BBQ grills and restrooms. This is your access because behind the beach is a cliff. This parking spot is also the trailhead for Beluga Slough trail. Homer is also known as the "Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea". It's an eclectic town - with folks proudly self-described as "friendly and helpful, artsy and outdoorsy, hardy and self-reliant, fun-loving and free spirited..." As in all of Alaska, don't ask 'em personal questions and you'll do just fine. This is the home port to the "Time Bandit" of Deadliest Catch fame. A town made famous as 'The End of the Road' in Tom Bodett's tales. A place where bald eagles feed on the beach is definitely worth five stars. read more

If u have an off road 4 wheel drive car this is a spot for u to come n roll by. You can also just park your car and go for a nice stroll. It is a new experience to touch the fridged waters of the North Pacific coast. The backdrop of picturesque mountains is to die for. It is amazing to me to see frozen sand and rocks along with snow on the beach. read more
