We went out for unlimited cod on a Tuesday. We had poor luck (~12 cod for 20 people). The captain and crew were nice and stayed out fishing extra to try to catch some more. It was clear jigging was the productive method that day and I wish they'd have switched more rods over to this, but they're somewhat handcuffed due to the large number of people on board which is the main reason I gave a 4 and not 5. The crew were great at trying to keep spirits up despite the poor luck. We still had fun thanks to good weather and that we got to see a few whales. read more

Coming to Alaska for our honeymoon, I wanted to surprise my husband with a fishing trip. Best charter company Homer. Granted, it's our first time chartering in Alaska; however, the way we were treated is what will bring us back. Fishing in Alaska has been a bucket list item for myself, my brother, and my father. O'Fish'ial Charters didn't treat us as newbies. They made us feel competent and treated us as friends. Today was a great and productive day on the Cook Inlet!! I highly recommend O'Fish'ial Charters of Alaska out of Homer. It was the fastest fishing charter I've been on and I've fished out of Kodiak. I didn't know really what to think at first. I've never gone fishing, so I didn't know what to compare this to. Our Captain, Cody knew exactly where to take us. He was spot on, as we starting landing our fish quickly. I also appreciated his excitement which was good for the whole boat. Wyatt was our deckhand and a great combo to work with Cody. These guys just kicked ass all day. Non-stop working and guiding us quite well. These guys constantly had our lines ready to go. With 10 of our 12 King Salmon limit on the boat, we moved to Halibut waters. The plan was to wait for the tide, but we started to land our fish like crazy. So when we got a hit on the line and started to reel, but it was harder then normal and strange. We thought, okay it's a big fish OR something else. Well it was a nice 62 inch Halibut. We decided to keep it! By the end if the day we felt like family....not the kind of family you hate, but the cool ones you actually like to visit at Thanksgiving. I'd totally bail these guys outta jail if they needed it! Walking out of the docks somebody asked me who I fished with, and I said O'Fish'ial! Great charter service! Capt. John and Deck Hand David did a first rate job. The boat was clean, spacious, and warm with leather sofas to flop out on while we sailed WAAAAY out into the Bay of Alaska. They put us on the big fish, showed us how to get them in the boat, the rods and reels worked beautifully with good, new, braided fishing line. They were flexible and gave us the best options to change plans and do the kind of fishing that appealed most, making good decisions to keep us safe given the weather and ocean conditions in the late season. We stopped to gawk at seals, otters and whales. David filleted our catch cleanly, leaving very little meat on the carcasses (not bad for a white guy). They called Homer Fish Processing who came and picked up our fish at the docks, and they also did an incredible job. On our second day, we did the halibut/salmon combo. We changed plans a couple times. There was a nasty storm where we wanted to go for more big butts, so we stayed in the Kachemak bay for salmon. But when another boat reported the sun, we went 30 miles out (still way out if you're doing the combo) bagged some fat fish, and then came back for salmon. They didn't mind doing the extra work of setting up the down riggers, then switching for halibut, and THEN switching back: crazy extra work to get us all the best fishing in real time. They put us on great fish in the off season. Wow. One couple didn't show up, but we waited for a good 30 minutes to give them every chance. Capt. John even called several times until he finally got a hold of them to learn that they had bought a fancy new camera, and were going to play with that instead go fishing. I was impressed to know that they weren't abandoned immediately at the departure time, although the rest of us certainly enjoyed the extra elbow room. They took pictures for us, even had a selfie stick for our go-pro and took an INCREDIBLE video including an underwater run of the halibut we caught. We're definitely going out with them as soon as we can get back. We heard from a bunch of guys how some charters will take you out to sit on a "chicken hole" to bag a bunch of little fish, and then bring you back in early. THESE guys will go the extra (80) miles to see you have the time of your life. If you can do more than one day, do the Trophy Halibut AND the Salmon Combo. So much fun. read more

Had a great time with O'Fish'ial Charters this summer for a Halibut/Salmon Fishing combo. We limited out on both and although only getting small halibut we came home with over 50lbs of fish. We've been eating on it for months since and all the fish is fantastic. We chartered out of the Homer Spit harbor on a chilly, overcast day with decently high winds. Our Captain did a great job handling the boat in the large swells and as long as we kept our eyes on the horizon we had no issue with sea sickness. Thankfully, the winds died down and the water calmed, which allowed us to limit out on Halibut and Salmon in just a few hours. In what seemed like a quick day of fishing, we were back in the harbor in no time, with the first mate having already filleted our fish. O'Fish'ial uses Homer Fish Processing to process and freeze the fish if customers want to use that service. We happily agreed and picked up our fish the next day and headed back home with the fish in tow. I'd fish again with O'Fish'ial. They had great service and competitive pricing. read more

Hello all, Whomever is going to read this. I have been going to Soldotna, AK. For the past 10 years fishing for Salmon. As everyone else we do the Halibut trip for the week that we are there. We're always trying to go out with whomever we can as you know sometimes schedule doesn't work as you plan it. So we have tried some other charters too. Booked an 8 Person family charter 9 months prior to our late June visit. They confirmed our booking at 10am, then cancelled our booking a 4pm the day pervious to our 7am charter. They didn't even attempt to rebook us with another charter or have any decent customer service to solve, THEIR problem. I had one day in Homer and that was it. I ended up, while driving from Anchorage, booking a private charter at 8pm that evening, for a 5:30 departure for an extra $1K more than what I had already paid O'Fish'ial Charters in advance. I'm still waiting for our credit card refund to show up on our bill. Customer service is not in their DNA. read more

Halibut!!! What a blast! We chartered the Tuff Stuff with Sandy as our captain and had an amazing time. He knows his stuff and made it better than we could have expected. They were 100% helpful, got us on great fish, would have stayed on the water until everyone got their limit, and were really nice and fun. I would come back over and over again with those guys.
