Visitors at a recent football game and you should be ashamed of yourselves. The visitors stands are falling apart, pieces along underneath are coming off. End caps are missing and a hazard. The worst part was the porta potty's. Absolutely disgusting and obviously has not been cleaned in a long time. Even walking by the Smell is horrid. There is nothing Christ like with the majority of students and staff at BISHOP KELLY in BOISE. There are a lot of students here who bully and harass other students. My child never had a problem making friends, a sports team and has attended Catholic High Schools prior to Bishop Kelly. My daughter, a cheerleader said she never thought kids could be so nasty. The staff will do nothing to keep your teenager safe. I guess... Once Upon a Time prior to 2014/2015 this was a great school. In December 2021 almost 2022 this school in my experience has been exactly what I read on the 1&2 star reviews on all the sites that allow reviews. 2016 to current is when the problems started at Bishop Kelly. Wish I read the reviews before paying over $15K to this school. We are new to this school this year in 2021/2022. My child will not be attending in Jan. 2022. This school is a HORRIBLE school. This is not a practicing Catholic School. The school wants your money, especially the ones like my family who don't receive aid. Their very nice up until fees are paid and contract signed. After that, consider yourself lucky if the return an email. They ghost ya! read more

For the most part, the bishop Kelly baseball concession program delivers. The otter pops are phenomenal and u get lots of bang for ur buck. That being said, production of burgers is kinda slow so don't come hungry. Overall I gave it a 4/5 because of the above. read more

Administration is surprisingly uncooperative and unreasonable. They seem to have a defense mechanism built up after years of angry and unsatisfied parents complaining about their rules and policies. They will minimize any complaint you have and sometimes plain ignore them. They are very stubborn in sticking to their policies even when there are times that an exception is appropriate. My son had been asked to take an exam the day he got back from being sick, and was not given any notice or time to look over the material. As a result, he didn't do so well, not surprisingly. When I approached the teacher with this, she repeated their "no-retake" policy and would not allow him to retake it. And the administration defended this policy as well, even though this clearly was an appropriate exception. So, they basically punished him for being sick and hid behind an ineffective policy in doing so. Bishop Kelly administration should be ashamed! read more

BK was a terrible school. Yes, their academics and their sports were excellent, but everything else was neglected. The faith was not taught well. Most students that I have met leave the faith after attending BK because of what the "Theology" teachers tell them. I remember sitting in one of my Theology classes while the teacher was showing a video that was spouting heresy! And, the teacher did nothing to refute that heresy! The faith is not first and foremost at this Catholic school. The school panders to everyone's needs instead of teaching truth. If someone at this school is not Catholic, the Theology teachers avoid mentioning anything of Catholic doctrine that might "offend" them. Now, all that said, there are a few teachers who teach the Truth of the Faith. They don't care if it will "offend" people because this is a Catholic school, and you better expect to learn Catholic doctrine here. Also, if you like music, don't go to this school. The music program is highly unfunded and is always over looked. In fact, the choir, guitar class, concert band, and orchestra were not mentioned in the yearbook at all. The only music mentioned in the yearbook was the marching band, and that was a very brief mention. The instruments that are provided to us are falling apart, and, we keep getting robbed of a performance hall, and we have to perform in a gym. Moving all the equipment from the school to the gym every time for a concert, and even for Mass, is quite annoying. That's another thing. We're a Catholic school. Why do we put so much money into sports, and not put more into building a chapel that all the students can fit in for Mass? Why are we celebrating Mass in the gym? The staff always complain about how students are so disrespectful during Mass, and how they always talk during the Consecration and distribution of the Eucharist. Part of that is the poor Theology going on. They don't truly know or understand what is going on in Mass. They aren't taught enough that it's truly Jesus present on the altar. Another reason why they are disrespectful is because of the environment the gym provides. When you enter a gym do you think: "I must be quiet because this is a sacred place"? Absolutely not! Gyms are places for sports events where there's a lot of talking and shouting going on. They're never quiet places. Also, periodically throughout the school year, BK will send surveys asking if we feel like they listen to the individual person, or if they listen to the parents. Long story short, they don't. I don't know how many times I've stressed these exact complaints in these surveys and in other means. I still have never heard back from them. Countless parents have stressed similar complaints and have gotten no feedback either. If you want your child to truly be educated in the spirit, mind, and body, don't send them to BK. You'd be far better off sending them to a public school, which is free, and then use part of that money you're saving by not sending them to BK to buy your children Catechisms, and bibles, and other Church documents and teach from that. Heck, you'd learn far more about the faith just by browsing Catholic Answers than you would about BK. read more

If you are a religious Catholic, you will fit right in. If you are not Catholic, or have any different views, about a quarter to half of the staff will pick on you. These staff members are insistent, and are not open to any view that differs from theirs. The athletics are decent, the education overall is a good way to prep for college, however there is not very many elective classes to take as each incoming freshman is required to take at least 7 semesters of theology or religious classes, even if one is another religion, agnostic, or atheist (many, many students fall under one of these three categories). The workload outside of school, assigned by teachers is much higher than the average high school, perhaps too high, but that is subjective. I am a former student who nearly switched schools for senior year due to the bullying from students and teachers alike (although it was mostly teachers and administration). I do not recommend this school for your child. I heard this was a high quality school when I was going in, but clearly things recently have taken a bad turn. read more
