I attended Bishop Gore School or Ysgol Esgob Gore, between the ages of 13-16. I had been yoinked out of another school as it was too expensive and not worth it and thrust into the hands of a comprehensive mixed state school.
It turns out the facilities at Bishop Gore were better than at my previous school, but that's not saying much for either. For all the woes of having to move school mid-year I actually quite liked this one. Entirely in retrospect.
As far as I know it's a pretty good school in a nice area, right next to huge Singleton Park. There are large playing fields, a swimming pool and wonderful things like a kiln for firing clay. You'd never get all that in a London state school. I loved the kiln. I made a clay shoe, it's great.
There's a sixth form, which I didn't attend but I know is good as many of my friends did. All in all it wasn't so bad and I came out with a whole bundle of GCSEs as did many of my peers. read more
