With me, they seemed keener on email communication and generally avoided the friendly chat outside class, unlike what I noticed they did with other parents. Although I am a 'questioning' mum and want to form a good idea of what goes on with my child in school, especially at first, I thought that they didn't take very well in particular to my enquiries about health&safety, which is a proper concern in general and more specifically for me in regard of my son's EpiPen procedures. Their generally dismissive behaviour in such matters was cause for worries, as well as being rude and irritating, of course. My experience in brief: if you would like your child educated by some brusque teacher at a provincial, if posh, institution with very average educational standards - and are glad to splash out for all that - Oakleigh House is the place for you. Ah, Wales. Land of the rolling green hills and beautiful Celtic language (Cymru am byth!). I mean…read morewhat a great place, they have a freakin' dragon on their freakin' flag! I was lucky enough to study abroad at Swansea University as an exchange student from Sacramento State in California. So essentially, I went from sunny, desert weather to rainy, drizzle! Culture shock, anyone? But hey, it can't rain all the time. I loved my experience at Swansea University! The coordinators and directors have a good relationship with their exchange campuses and they made us feel right at home in Wales. The university campus (Singleton campus) itself is fairly small, cozy even, but there is plenty to see and do. Let me outline a few of my favourite locations: The Taliesin Arts Centre hosts cinema (discounts for students), live performances, and an art gallery. On the ground floor there is a Waterstones' bookstore and Lloyd's branch for all your banking needs. On the first floor (remember, in the UK it is ground, then first) there is a nice lunch cafe -- perfect for sandwiches, salad and coffee. There is also the famous Egypt Centre, too. Admission is free but you'll have to pay for parking. There are so many campus buildings I can't possibly list them all -- check the website! My other two favorite locations were Pub on the Pond, a nice local pub to eat at with great specials, and the Sports Centre Swansea, which features a state of the art swimming pool, and workout arena. There is also Fulton House, the main building on campus which "is home to a range of student services and includes a ground floor corner shop, a larger Spar shop on the 2nd floor, cash-point machines and a travel shop. There are a range of catering outlets, including Au Boulanger (ground floor), Angles, Café West and Coffee Culture (all on the 1st floor), and JC's bar (2nd floor)" (taken from the website).
