The teachers are all lovely and are well liked by the pupils. The head Mrs Thomas is dedicated to providing a high level of education for all the pupils and has a great manner with the children. The children enjoy many activities including indoor and outdoor play. The outdoor area is enclosed for safety and has a lovely garden area including vegetable patch and fruit trees aswell as yard areas for games and play. There is a school PTA which raises funds for the school and all parents are welcome to help. Overall a great school with happy children who enjoy learning.

Both children are enjoying and exemplary start to their eduction at this school and I have nothing but praise for the whole school. The attatched Nusery is superb and the little one intergrate into the schoolas and when they are ready. The staff are wonderful and teaching standards are high in my opinion. The classes are thoughtful and I have been pleasantly surprised at how comprehensively the early years have been. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this school to prospective parents.

With me, they seemed keener on email communication and generally avoided the friendly chat outside class, unlike what I noticed they did with other parents. Although I am a 'questioning' mum and want to form a good idea of what goes on with my child in school, especially at first, I thought that they didn't take very well in particular to my enquiries about health&safety, which is a proper concern in general and more specifically for me in regard of my son's EpiPen procedures. Their generally dismissive behaviour in such matters was cause for worries, as well as being rude and irritating, of course. My experience in brief: if you would like your child educated by some brusque teacher at a provincial, if posh, institution with very average educational standards - and are glad to splash out for all that - Oakleigh House is the place for you. The actual school is situated just behind a very attractive church, meaning it is off the main road and is very private. The school is divided into two main buildings - one for Key Stage 1 and the other for Key Stage 2. Classroom size is a little on the small side, especially for KS2's, however there doesn't seem to be a feel of overcrowding. The teachers are all wonderful. There is a clear sense of dedication and it feels that every teacher really cares for each student. Children come from all backgrounds, with many having English as their 2nd language. There is a number of extra support staff who regularly takes small groups off to another room for extra help which is a very positive point. The school also benefits from the Outreach Scheme, which is a government funded organisation which places students from the University of the West of England into schools to aid the teachers. After speaking to a number of staff at St Michaels, it is apparent that they are extremely grateful for the additional help that the Outreach Scheme provides. There are morning and after school clubs offered, and also an option for school dinners or packed lunches. All young children are given milk and fruit for snacks and regularly encouraged to run around outdoors. A word of warning though, if driving, the lane leading into the schools car park is very long and narrow meaning only one car can fit down it resulting in a lot of congestion in the mornings and after school.
