Food is great, but shouldn't have to wait 25 minutes for a sausage biscuit, which was the case this morning.

Tried Harvey's Breakfast in Greenville yesterday morning and honestly... sometimes you just want a…read moresolid, no-frills breakfast spot that does the job well. It was busy, but not chaotic. Think Waffle House energy, but local and without the franchise feel. You could tell people actually come there because they enjoy the food. Now as a coffee enthusiast, I'll be honest, the only hiccup for me was the coffee selection. It's straight black coffee only. Not a deal breaker, just don't walk in expecting a latte menu. I ordered the pork chop breakfast (and if you're judging pork... respectfully keep scrolling ). It came with grits, toast, and eggs. The pork chop was good, eggs were cooked right, toast hit the spot, and the grits just needed a little salt. Overall? It's not where you go for an aesthetic brunch with edible flowers and $18 pancakes. It's where you go when you want a GOOD breakfast that feels familiar, filling, and real. And honestly, there's something refreshing about that. Would definitely go back. Greenville needs places like this.

The staff are cool people and very attentive. My go to is corned beef hash with eggs over easy, side of hasbrowns, upgraded to a pancake and add a cheese biscuit. My cardiologist may not approve, but my heart does. YOLO.

I've been trying to catch this place since I noticed them when I first moved to Greenville…read more Unfortunately, my schedule and their hours never really aligned. I was driving by one evening and saw they were open and pulled over immediately. When I walked up to the window, the lady working warmly greeted me and answered my menu questions. I ordered the shrimp basket with fries, which came with coleslaw. Within 10 minutes, my order was being served. In true COVID fashion, I went to my car, sanitized my hands, and dug in. I always try to capture seafood at the peak of its freshness since styrofoam often causes the food to sweat and makes the breading soggy. The shrimp were fresh, tender, and well-seasoned. The breading was minimal and crispy, and the inside was perfectly cooked. The fries were well seasoned and crispy as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the corn sticks and coleslaw. Both were fresh and clearly homemade and were the perfect complement to the meal. I could not believe the level of quality and freshness that this meal delivered at only $8--what a steal! I immediately hit the group chat to let them know the gem I'd found. They may have strange hours (Closed Sat-Monday with dinner only Tuesday-Thursday and Lunch and Dinner on Friday), but it is most certainly worth it. I will be frequenting the Gold Post on these days. I cannot wait to try their fried fish.

Wanted the chicken and shrimp platter but they didn't have any chicken this day so just had the shrimp platter, good shrimp and fries, coleslaw depends on your taste was too sweet for mine but a good helping if you like it, they substituted the cornbread with white bread which was a real let down when I opened the container as I always look forward to cornbread. All and all ok and would give another chance but make sure they have everything before ordering.

Decided to give them a second try since they had a couple years to get it together... boy was I wrong. This time ordered a steak and egg biscuit and side hash brown casserole, again sandwich seemed to be sitting a while and egg overcooked and like rubber, biscuit only fair. There's many other fast food places with better biscuits out there and some aren't what I'd call very good either. The casserole resembled a scoop of warm dog food in a cup and probably not much better (not that I've ever had dog food) very salty and hard to identify the ingredients that were supposed to be in it. All and all I suggest you take a pass unless growing up you had a bad cook in the house and want to reminisce... It's a shame about this because the employees were so nice and kept the place so clean
