I have been wanting to try the food at this restaurant for sometime and today my friend and I decided to do so I was surprised to see a wide variety of foods even though the name said "Biryani pot". We were the first to enter as soon as they opened and we decided to try the dosas. I ordered the Mysore dosa and my friend got the masala dosa. We also ordered the fried pepper corn from the appetizer menu. It was fantastic. The dosas were crisp and tasty. We really enjoyed it. As we were eating the crowds started slowly increasing and by the time we left the restaurant was pretty full. It's a nice little restaurant, clean and tidy and service was quick and the servers were friendly and welcoming. I will definitely go back soon and I must try the biryani. We dropped by on the way to the airport. The inside is very bare but clean, although they seemed a bit short staffed when we came here. They did a steady stream of takeout during the time, so service and the kitchen was a bit slow. That being said, the food was deeply spiced and well flavored. Huge portions especially for the price. First time eating here because I wanted to see what biryani was like. The amount of food for the price is amazing!! I had a veggie combo plate and a paneer biryani for $18.99. Everything was flavorful and delicious! Also not greasy at all, everything was very clean. I had a lot of these dishes for the first time and it will certainly not be my last. I couldn't finish everything, but I can confirm that everything microwaves beautifully if you have leftovers. The rice was packed with flavor, the baby corn manchurian had a wonderful texture, the two curry/sauces paired well with the bread and rice, and the mango dessert was a great refresher. Got takeout from this restaurant and was quite happy with the food. A bit on the greasy side but Indian food is like that. We ordered tandoori chicken, Chana masala (chickpea curry), chicken 65, and garlic naan. All were tasty and flavourful. We found the chicken 65 to be a bit on the spicy side but also very delicious. The naan was good but not amazing. We really enjoyed the Chana masala- we had never had it this ways before as it was in more of a creamy sauce. We usually have it in a tomato-based gravy but it was excellent in this sauce. The place is located in a plaza not far from us so it's a spot that I will likely order from again. Now, you can choose from three options - Lunch Box (veg $11.99 or chicken $12.99) which come with an appetizer, a couple of curries, naan, rice, pappadam and dessert - OR - Lunch Portion Biryani (paneer/bone-in chicken $11.99 or boneless chicken $12.99 or goat $13.99) - OR - Signature Lunch Biryani Combo (paneer/bone-in chicken $18.99 or goat $19.99) which combines the lunch box and the lunch portion biryani. The Lunch Box or Lunch Portion Biryani is probably good for normal appetites. The Signature Lunch Biryani Combo is a lot of food, and you can probably squeeze two meals out of it. The appetizers, curries and dessert in the lunch special rotate (check their stories on their IG bpotirvine to see what's on offer). Food tends to have a bit of heat. I'm no expert, but IMHO they do a good flavorful biryani. All the customers on today's visit were Indian, so I take that as a good sign! I always place my order online for takeout. The vijaywada biryani, egg noodles, and gongura chicken biryani were hard to eat due to the spice and uncooked chicken in the vijaywada biryani. Also, we ordered the chili fish, but they brought us the chili chicken and when we asked about it, they asked us to prove it which felt a little weird. The food is always fresh, packed with flavor, and somehow ready insanely fast every single time -- like, I barely have time to check my phone before my order's ready. The staff here are super nice and always make the experience smooth and easy. I've never had a bad interaction or a messed-up order -- just consistently great service and even better food. Highly recommend the Chicken 65 (crispy and perfectly spiced), the Chilly Fish (a sleeper hit if you like a little heat), and of course the Special Chicken Biryani -- easily one of the best I've had in OC. Really loved Onion Samosa, Prawns Biryani, Apollo fish , Double-kameta sweet, Hyderabad Chicken Biryani and my favorite Irani Chai. Honestly its hard to find Irani Chai everywhere. Food here is always amazing, I'm glad to have a location here in Irvine! I could extol the food, but many others already have. This is more an appreciation of good service. I placed an online order at the wrong location and the guy (manager?) here called and arranged to make it for me at this location. I was even willing to pay again, but he waved it. If that wasn't enough above and being service, technically what I ordered wasn't even a menu item at the express location, but even that they accommodated. Team members like Yasu (I probably butchered the spelling) that are the ones who really build customer loyalty. I was always coming back for the good food, but taking me from "crap, my $60 order is no good and at the wrong location where I can't reasonably drive to on a Friday night with the family expecting food" to a complete 180 "we got you, don't worry" assures I'll be back even more -- this time ordering from the correct location and menu selection online. PS they're between the Apple Store and Target at the irvine Spectrum, drop in and give them a shot. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Try a pastry from Cafe 85 while you're in the area! Food is excellent. I've only tried the dum biryani and butter chicken but so far those two have been some of the best made I've tried in Irvine. The only thing that I'm not big on is the naan. THere's nothing wrong with it, but I prefer the puffy tandoor naan. This is a bit thinner. The restaurant is really clean and there a good number of seats and tables. The owner and workers there are very cordial and welcoming. Update 3/26 We've tried a few other dishes since then. The service is always great. The house special chicken curry is very good.
