Channa Masala, Tandoori Chicken (Full), Chicken 65
    Maya D.

Got takeout from this restaurant and was quite happy with the food. A bit on the greasy side but Indian food is like that. We ordered tandoori chicken, Chana masala (chickpea curry), chicken 65, and garlic naan. All were tasty and flavourful. We found the chicken 65 to be a bit on the spicy side but also very delicious. The naan was good but not amazing. We really enjoyed the Chana masala- we had never had it this ways before as it was in more of a creamy sauce. We usually have it in a tomato-based gravy but it was excellent in this sauce. The place is located in a plaza not far from us so it's a spot that I will likely order from again. When I picked it up and went into the restaurant, it was very quiet but it looked clean and well maintained. I would order from here again.

    Lunch Paneer Biryani

Updating my previous review since they've changed their lunch specials. Now, you can choose from three options - Lunch Box (veg $11.99 or chicken $12.99) which come with an appetizer, a couple of curries, naan, rice, pappadam and dessert - OR - Lunch Portion Biryani (paneer/bone-in chicken $11.99 or boneless chicken $12.99 or goat $13.99) - OR - Signature Lunch Biryani Combo (paneer/bone-in chicken $18.99 or goat $19.99) which combines the lunch box and the lunch portion biryani. The Lunch Box or Lunch Portion Biryani is probably good for normal appetites. The Signature Lunch Biryani Combo is a lot of food, and you can probably squeeze two meals out of it. The appetizers, curries and dessert in the lunch special rotate (check their stories on their IG bpotirvine to see what's on offer). Food tends to have a bit of heat. I'm no expert, but IMHO they do a good flavorful biryani. All the customers on today's visit were Indian, so I take that as a good sign! I always place my order online for takeout. Sometimes my food is ready on time, sometimes not. If you order online, Toast gives you reward points for $ off future orders.

The portions here are huge, the goat biryani lasted me 3 meals. Even mild spicy was too spicy for me. The food seemed very authentic and taste really good. The menu was extensive and the staff are friendly. Nice place for lunch as a team. Medium size interior and pretty clean.

Very good food and very good people here. Their biryani always hits the spot. It's clean food and they honor customer requests very well. Usually when I'm eating biryani I have to clear up the food from the spices that I can't eat. But here their rice is clean and easy to be eaten. I had an issue a few months ago Where my wife's food was very salty. They replaced it with a free dish a few months later when I came in. Great customer service Shivany. Thank you again.

If you're looking for a world-class biryani spot in Orange County, Biryani Pot Express is where it's at. Specializing in--you guessed it--biryani, their flavors are phenomenal, and they easily rank among the best biryanis I've had in the area. They're open late, which is a huge plus, and their lunch combos are a great deal. The butter chicken, while tasty, leans a little too sweet for my liking, and I'd say Natraj or Nina's has the edge when it comes to tikka masala. But if you're here for the biryani or find yourself in Irvine, this spot should be on your radar. The pricing is a touch steep, but they make up for it with a solid loyalty program that's worth signing up for if you plan on coming back (and trust me, you probably will).

    Chicken Majestic

Usually, this is my group's go-to biryani place, but lately the food has just been way too spicy. The vijaywada biryani, egg noodles, and gongura chicken biryani were hard to eat due to the spice and uncooked chicken in the vijaywada biryani. Also, we ordered the chili fish, but they brought us the chili chicken and when we asked about it, they asked us to prove it which felt a little weird. They ended up bringing us a new chili fish even though we said we didn't want it. However, the chicken majestic was good.

Chicken Lunch Combo. Includes one chicken biryani and one platter containing different stuff.

We like the food here. I'm no expert but it feels authentic compared to some other places. Staff at the register are friendly and welcoming. We usually get the Chicken Lunch Combo (non-veg option) which Includes one chicken biryani and one platter containing rice, bread and the little bowls are a type of chicken stew, daal, and dessert.

    Hair found in pulav.
    Reuben F.

Update: Called it in and they were kind enough to provide another item of the same value. I usually get the biryani and tried the goat pulav this time. It was also tasty which is why the 2 stars, but I found a hair in my food which makes me question the hygiene in the kitchen. I had to throw the rest away which is total waste of money.

One detail I loved was the screen playing old-school Indian movies in the background. It adds a layer of nostalgia to the experience that's hard to describe, almost like the feeling you get watching classic black-and-white films. The food does take a little while to come out, but it's absolutely worth the wait. Service is friendly. Samosa Chaat (9/10) - An explosion of flavours. I loved that they leave larger chunks of samosa throughout the dish instead of turning it into one giant mashed potato bowl. Great texture and balance. Dahi Puri (8/10) - Refreshing, slightly spicy, sweet, and savuory all at once. Plus, it's a fun dish to eat. Lamb Curry (7.5/10) - The meat was tender and the curry itself was rich and flavuorful. Butter Chicken (8.5/10) - Packed with flavor and hands down the best butter chicken I've had in Orange County. My only complaint is that the portion wasn't bigger. I ran out of butter chicken before I finished my naan

However this time I thought I would try something different. So I ordered online with Mint. All the pictures and reviews were decent so why not? Well I should've stuck with my OG's because this was not it. I ordered x2 buttered chicken that was in a very small container (see photo attached) for $20 EACH! Garlic Naan that was $5, Mango Lassi also $5 and Gelato. First, if you guys are paying $20 for a small tiny container of butter chicken in LH please please do yourself a favor and go try Southern Spice. Their flavors are mouthwatering and the portion is huge. I understand inflation but this is ridiculous and the flavor is blah. It's like there is no spices in there at all just butter and tomato sauce AND the kicker...no rice! Super weird to me that they do not automatically give you rice! Like who just orders butter chicken or any Indian,Chinese, Korean dish for that matter without rice! I mean rice has to cost you guys a pretty small fraction no? Just give people 1/2c of rice! If not, at least you should make note of that on your menu so people know ahead of ordering. The garlic Naan is decent really no complaints there, the Mango Lassi they gave me was the size of a kiddy cup (see photo) Literally a child's sippy cup is bigger than what I received for $5 insane! And just to make matters worse, when I opened by bag they placed my gelato directly on top of the hot food! So when I took it out, it had completely melted. $10 for melted pistachio creamy soup, just what I wanted. You guys have to do better for your customers. I get the price increases but for what you are giving and the immense amount of lack of flavors...is wild. Save your money, drive a little bit further and eat some true Indian food in Irvine/Tustin cause this place is not it. The pictures posted are truly beautiful but pictures are not everything especially when it comes to food quality and flavor. I am only giving two stars bc the Mango Lassi and Garlic Naan were decent tasting.

The place is spotlessly clean, the service is exceptionally great, and the menu is so exhaustive you might need a bookmark. We went all-in on the dinner service. The Naan was fresh, pillowy, and tasty enough to eat on its own. The Chicken 65 was prepared with the exact right amount of spice--perfectly balanced and making me wonder what happened to chickens 1 through 64. The Dahl was fantastic, but the absolute showstopper was the Biryani. Take it from someone who has spent time working in Hyderabad: this is the real deal, highly reminiscent of the city's absolute finest. We finished things off with the Shahi Tukda, which was so incredibly rich and tasty it probably needs its own tax bracket. Beyond the food, the logistics are a breeze. It's right off El Toro Road with ample parking (a true Southern California miracle). They also offer catering if you want to be the hero of your next event. We didn't get to try the lunch special this time, but it's an incredible value--two entrees, rice, naan, and a drink, neatly sidestepping the usual buffet trough. Bottom line: Go here. Eat everything. Thank me later.

What did I just eat?…read more I'm genuinely confused after eating at Maast Indian in Irvine, because I don't know how something can look so promising on the outside and taste so disappointing on the inside. I was skeptical walking in, not gonna lie. The place wasn't exactly packed -- maybe three tables had people and there was one person waiting on an order -- but I figured hey, every new spot deserves a fair shot. The interior actually looks really nice. Clean, modern, good layout, good lighting... it feels like a place that should be delivering quality food. Then I ordered the Tandoori Chicken "Panini Sandwich". First of all... $15 for a sandwich like that is wild. And if you're going to charge $15, the food better be memorable in a good way. This was memorable in the worst way. The flavor was just off. The chicken didn't taste like tandoori should. It didn't have that smoky, spiced kick you expect -- it tasted bland and kind of weird, like the seasoning didn't know what it wanted to be. The whole sandwich felt thrown together, and the "panini" part didn't add anything except disappointment. And what really got me was the value. No fries. No chips. Nothing on the side. Just a sandwich. For $15. During lunch hours. That's crazy. For that same price, I can go to Curry Hut, Curry Time, or other grab-and-go Indian spots and get a full combo plate that actually fills you up and tastes like Indian food is supposed to taste. This wasn't even in the same league. This wasn't a "maybe I ordered the wrong thing" situation. This was a "how did this make it onto the menu" situation. I hate leaving negative reviews because I understand how hard it is to run a small business, and I'm not here to tear anyone down. But the food needs a serious reality check. The presentation and the space are great -- but the kitchen needs to match that same standard. If the owner sees this, I'd honestly love to talk. Feel free to reach out. And for anyone reading this: you know I don't throw out 1-star reviews like that. The only reason this isn't a 1 is because I genuinely don't want to hurt a small business. But this experience was not good.
