Oulton Park is my favourite circuit for watching touring car races…read more The location, is fantastic. Lovely scenic views. For the touring car weekends, if you want a relaxing camping area, go for the family camp site. The other camping area can get noisy, and on an occasion we stayed there, the portaloos were vandalised by other selfish campers. One one other occasion there were nearly fights as people were blasting airhorns at 01.00 in the morning when noise was meant to be kept down after 23.00. Also the people with the airhorns had a very large fire pit blazing away while they sat and drank around it and made loads of noise. Fires, again, had to be extinguished by 23.00. on top of this, the security guards, decided to join them around the firepit and ignore what they were doing. As this party of men were causing upset, with the rest of the campers, other very annoyed campers went to the security office and complained about what was happening. The supervisor duly came and sorted things out. No idea if the security guards kept their jobs or not. These reasons are why we go to the family camping area. Thing are a lot more friendly and quiet. Everyone gets on there. Despite the problems I mention which was a few years ago, I still love going to Oulton Park. There are loads of great viewing points for watching the races. The first corner and Knickerbrook chicane always have good action and crashes. I will definately continue to go back even though it's a 3.5 hour drive. Be aware, the burger stalls and clothes stalls can be very expensive so either take a big wallet or a packed lunch.

Hazelwell Park is a funny little park. It's on a slope, which makes it frequently a bit…read morewater-logged at the lower end. It's also not actually all that little - it's deceptively large. Part of the Rea Valley cycle route runs through it and it backs almost onto the Pershore Road, which makes it that nice mix of green space and inner city. It never looks particularly neat or landscaped - however a good deal of thought seems to have gone into the children's play area, which they seem to be continually developing - adding the occasional swing or climbing frame. Due to this, its relative peace and quiet and easy accessibility to the good folk of Stichley, it's quite popular with locals with little ones in tow. Even though you always have to wear your wellies, almost year round. Apart from the children's play area the park consists of a large area of open space and the banks of the River Rea; which suggests something for everyone. It's still a pretty well-kept secret, as far as Birmingham parks are concerned.

During summer months the river bank is alive with nature and it's a great spot to take the kids to pick wildflowers and mess about in the water. Aside from the river bank it's a fairly standard park. There is a pretty good children's play area with swings and such that is well maintained and safe and there is a small football goal if you want a kickabout - although the sloping nature of the park, and the fact that there is only 1 goal means it isn't great for a 'proper' game. When this place comes into it's own is during a winter snowfall, hence the 4 stars. At the rear of the park, just by the allotments, there is a BMX cycle track that has a fairly decent hill. This makes for an ideal sledging venue that gives a pretty decent run with a few bumps provided by the covered BMX track. Remember this place next time it snows!

TLDR; Obnoxious fans. Incredible food, service, and experience…read more The crowd - We hadn't been at the venue for 5 minutes and my coworker who was carrying his rolling bag started getting bullied by some plastered fans in a big group about his bag. The setup - Once we arrived at the gate the security told us we couldn't bring in backpacks, even though we were headed for a box with plenty of room. It wouldn't have been a big issue but the bag check was not between the parking lots and the stadium so we had to trek down the dirt road to check our bags and trek back. Not a huge issue but definitely an improvement for how the venue could setup areas where they are needed. The experience - Having said all this, the venue does a great job catering a wonderful experience in the box. Separated out from the crowd we were able to get a terrific view of the race as the horses ran right in front of us. I don't think I'll ever get a more up-close view of a race. The service in the box was great also with the drinks and food being top quality and friendly service.

Another weekend, another race circuit…read more This time it was off to the East Midlands to visit 'The Friendliest Circuit'. After Donington the weekend before, I was feeling rather tired of sleeping in a truck in the cooling - nay cold - temperatures of October, so there was a large amount of trepidation involved in this particular trip, especially as I would be travelling by motorbike this time. I tell ya - 5.5 hrs through high winds and stormy weather is fun for no-one, and by the time I reached the circuit, having gone through country fields, courtesy of the route planner I had used, I was tired, wet and very, very cold. But Mallory Park was definitely a much more pleasant experience. We were plugged up to mains (although this tripped on regular occasion) so heating was on when I arrived to warm through my chilled bones. There was a cafe which, although didn't serve a vegetarian option for breakfast, at least charged me less for a meat-free breakfast. The circuit itself is set in a beautiful part of the country - the views spectators have across the land surrounding the circuit could place you 10 years or 100 years ago and you would not notice the difference. The circuit itself is small, and fast, with some corners that caused many a scuffle amongst the sidecars here this weekend. The particular event I was here to watch was the World Sidecar Festival. More like European given the participants had travelled from all over Europe - given that for many this is a (expensive) hobby - you can imagine the passion people have for this sport. From Vintage big wheelers (imagine bicycle wheels attached to an engine), to classics (50s-60s onwards) up to the F1s and F2s, there was plenty entertainment. This also was the last of the Eastern Airways F1 Championship, so the racing here was fast, tight and exciting as competitors fought for final places. Amenities-wise, there were again plenty toilets, and 100% increase on Donington - with 2 showers (with transparent curtains - honestly, I don't need to see other women shower, thanks all the same!) and 2 sinks. Sometimes I really do wonder how the ratio of facilities is calculated - 10+ toilets, 2 sinks & 2 showers? Oh I guess if you factor in those who don't wash afterwards...gross. In conclusion, Mallory Park is a nice circuit to visit - the circuit itself is easily accessible and you get close up to the action, especially around the Hairpin and Bus Stop. It has some stunning oak trees, a reasonable paddock area and average amenities for a circuit. It definitely had a much friendlier vibe so for me, it certainly lived up to it's motto.

Silverstone, the home of Motorsport, the home to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix…read more I have been lucky enough to attend the last 3 British grand Prix at Silverstone and it just gets better every year. The facilities are fantastic, with more and more being added. There are lots of bars, fast food stalls, merchandise stands and entertainment to keep you occupied while the track is empty. The food and drink is reasonably priced for any major sporting event, a pint will cost you roughly £4 and a meal will be around £6. The beauty of Silverstone is that you can bring your own, provided it is not in a glass bottle or container, you are welcome to bring it with you. The of track entertainment side of things has greatly improved over the last couple of years, this year Madness played on the Thursday night and there were other concerts on the Friday and Saturday evening. I love this place, its a petrol heads dream so I will always be slightly bias with my review but if you have any interest in speed, make sure you make at least 1 trip to Silverstone. I've booked for next year already and will be returning in August for the MotoGP

Recently went to Silverstone circuit for the British Grand Prix. It was my 1st ever time attending…read morean F1 race. We stayed the whole weekend, staying in the campsite next door. (This review will partly be about the F1 race (and other motorsport) and the different activities/events etc associated with the Formula 1). The food options in Silverstone during the weekend were pretty much as you may expect - burgers, pizzas etc - so it was not the most healthy weekend! Some of the food was actually decent, some not as much. For example, had a burger from one place and it was really tasty -even if it was from a restaurant - never mind a van. But then a burger from another place was not good. One problem with Silverstone, but hard to do much about it, is that its a pretty flight area - so some of the public access places where people stand/sit to watch, you don't get the best view. As well as the F1 race (and the qualifying and practices), you can see the GP2 and GP3 series and also the Porsche Cup. With the F1 cars being a bit quieter nowadays, I didn't need to earplugs I bought. (Although I did need to just when stood in a particular place watching the GP2 qualifying). As well as the motorsport to watch, there is the F1 Village area with the big stage with different music acts on different days and also the Drivers Forum where drivers turn up and see the fans, answer questions, sign autographs etc. Also, the Typhoon Air Display was very impressive. As was the Red Arrow display - although not as good as the Typhoon - also, because of where we were stood (near podium), most of the display of the Red Arrows was behind the main new pit building - so didn't so much of it!

He really enjoyed it, and the process was really smooth - we were in the car within 5 minutes of arriving. It seems the under 17 events are held on every Saturday, and then once a month on the last Sunday, but book up fast. Lois helped us book a future drive, and was really helpful too. Great experience!

I recently visited Drift Limits for a supercar driving experience, but unfortunately, my encounter…read morewas marred by several concerning issues that significantly detracted from the overall enjoyment. Firstly, the booking process was misleading and seemed geared towards upselling unnecessary upgrades. Initially advised to pay an extra £60 for an automatic car, I later discovered that the chosen experience could accommodate automatic cars without this costly upgrade. This approach feels disingenuous and left me questioning the integrity of their customer advice. Secondly, despite booking and paying for 8 laps per person, we were told we would only receive 4 laps each. This inconsistency and lack of transparency in fulfilling the booking are deeply disappointing. Moreover, the overall organization and management of the event were severely lacking. We booked for a 2:00pm session but ended up waiting for hours due to overbooking issues & only got in a car after 4:30pm. This mismanagement not only caused frustration but also resulted in wasted time and undermined the special occasion we were there to celebrate. Additionally, the condition of the car provided was substandard and unacceptable. The vehicle displayed signs of neglect, including visible moss growth between the mirrors and malfunctioning windscreen wipers. Such poor maintenance reflects poorly on Drift Limits' commitment to customer satisfaction and safety. - Drift Limits have denied these issues to me but I saw them very clearly. To make matters worse, my attempt to address these issues directly with Drift Limits was met with a dismissive response. Their reply was brief, and they did not seem interested in investigating or acknowledging most of the issues raised, instead deflecting by referring to terms and conditions that were not adequately disclosed prior to the experience. In summary, my experience at Drift Limits was marred by misleading practices, poor organization, and a lack of attention to basic service standards. I would caution anyone considering their services to thoroughly evaluate alternatives before committing to Drift Limits. They value money more than customer service. I expect Drift Limits to respond to this review with an explanation for each point how somehow it was the customers fault & explained in the t&c's I accepted etc, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend trusting their response in the slightest.

I have spoken to many people who have gone go-karting at Teamworks and they said they had a very good time. Height restrictions do apply so there may well be some disappointed youngsters who may not get the opportunity to drive a go-kart. But honestly it really is worth going to Teamworks Karting and believe me you will have a fantastic time. It will definitely be something you remember for many years to come. So it was someone's bright idea at work to arrange a team day out go karting! I was extremely…read moreexcited as I had never done it before but I didn't really know what to expect. When we first arrived, we all met in the car park before walking up to the entrance. We were greeted by a couple of guys who took us through to a room where we watched a safety video and were told what they day ahead involves. Next, we put on our suits which were all in ones so they went over our clothes. I'd recommend wearing something light and comfortable as it gets really hot in there especially with the helmet on. The go kart itself went so fast! I felt nervous with adrenaline and thought I was doing really well. That was until, at the end I found out I had been lapped by the others several times! Definitely a fun day out.

So much fun - highly recommended to all ages.. Will be back again when next in the midlands...read more
