I couple years ago I took my motorhome in to Birdies and had them work on the generator. They did a good job and they told me that they did other electrical work on motorhomes too, if I ever needed it. So when I was have some electrical issue I decided to take it back in to have the problems addressed before a planned trip in a few months. I took it in with the following issues to be repaired which I went over with the secretary when I made the appointment and again when I dropped it off; The batteries did not charge when plugged in, only with the generator and when driving, two reading lights in the bedroom did not work, the basement compartment lights did not work, the fog lights didn't have power, the under-hood light didn't work, and the headlights on the passenger side went out when switched to high beams. The fog lights, basement lights, and engine compartment lights are all part of the same switch bank so I suspected the problem was something to do with that. I dropped it off in the evening and again went through all the issues with the secretary. I was called the afternoon of the next day saying it was done. When I picked it up Clint told me he had repaired the battery charging issue, the problem with the bedroom lights was a switch I didn't know existed (I felt foolish for not knowing about the switch), he said he had repaired the basement lights by splicing into a wire I had previously ran directly from the battery to one of the basement compartments in which I ran a small refrigerator/freezer. He said he wouldn't fix the he fog lights, engine compartment light or headlights. This is not what I was told when I dropped it off. The bill was $350.00. We took the motorhome to another place Clint suggested to have the headlights taken care of. During this time I was going over in my mind what Clint had said about how he repaired the basement lights. He had spliced into a wire I had ran directly to the battery. In doing so he took out the plug I had to run the basement refrigerator and also bypassed the switch on the dash which turned on and off all of the basement lights. There was no way now of just turning them all off with one switch plus it seemed like he took a short cut with the fix, not finding the problem which likely would have taken care of the other two things; the fog lights and the engine compartment light. I took it back after I picked it up from the place that was going to do the headlights. When I told Clint about the issues; the switch on the dash now didn't work and that he disabled my basement refrigerator he said he wished he had known about the switch on the dash. There were a couple other items he said he wished he had known. I told him I had gone over all of that with his secretary. He had ended up firing the secretary the day I first brought it in. He made it sound like it was my fault and when I told him I had gone over this with his secretary he didn't apologize or anything. The next day he called me to pick it up, he said he had put the outlet back in for the basement fridge. I told him I wanted a refund for the basement wiring as it wasn't done right. The dash switch still did not work. He basically threatened me that he would never allow me to come back if he gave me a refund. I didn't take the refund and I regret it as I will never go back. Clint acts like a nice guy but he didn't try very hard to make the situation right and make the customer happy and was full of excuses as to why the work wasn't done right. So for $350 the only work he did that amounted to anything was to move the power converter back a few inches so that the access door wasn't pushing against it and disconnecting the incoming power. And to top it off, the plug he put in to run the basement refrigerator, doesn't work! He talks like he knows what he's doing but the results sure don't show it. Very dissatisfied. read more
