Very good American food the place reminds me of my pa's old restaurant back in Lincoln Nebraska.

The 2 meat plate is at least a better value for 25$ which is why I gave it two stars but the puppy plate for 10 dollars is atrocious at least give a full piece of corn not like 1/3 probably frozen bulk bag of corn. You could have gone to a meat deli and had twice as much meat for a 1/3 the price. Flavor may be alright but for 10 dollars there should be more meat and bigger piece of corn, or at least two sides for that price... I'd definitely think twice ordering anything for kids cause my 4 yr old ate this and was still hungry and not surprisingly. That puppy box is at MAX 5 dollars, you get more at legitimately any other place I've ordered a kids portion at. Definitely won't be coming back, money goes further at other places than this. read more

I would say pass.. and go to Rudy's instead. I love supporting local but sometimes the chains get it right. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was dry, usually pulled pork is juicy and a little fatty.. nahhh not here. I asked if I could get sliced brisket instead of chop, lady at the counter said no as she's slicing brisket instead front of us and chopping it up for the order. Very seldom do I write reviews unless I've had super good service or super bad service. I've been a fan of her dog barbecue for years. Their food has been exceptional. Due to a few things we haven't been able to order from them for about a year. We finally ordered tonight and I was so excited because her food is usually so good. It was horrible. That's all I can say. It was the worst food I've ever had. First problem was online it gave a description of a family meal for $64 we thought that's reasonable so they went down to get it come to find out it's $99 not 64 we went ahead and did it because as I said Before The food is exceptional. The macaroni was overdone and very watery. The beans were OK. I get the sausages because they're so yummy. They were terrible and grainy. I don't know if they switched sausages. Usually, they had two kinds of sausages, but they only had one kind and it was gross. I have it tasted the other meats we got Brisket which usually our slices of brisket this was just a handful of shredded beef. I don't know if it was brisket or not. And then we got some pulled pork and some chicken. I'm very disappointed and I will not go back there. read more

You can smell the smoke when you drive up. You are greeted immediately and they start making your plate. The pulled pork, brisket, and ribs are just delicious. Their beans are as incredible as their sauces. Lors of seating inside and out on their patio. Always clean and orderly. Their I sweet tea goes so well with their BBQ. read more

UPDATE: This place seems to be going down hill right before our eyes. The pulled pork, already dried out from being shredded into sandpaper, now seems to lack any smoke flavor at all. This is a disturbing development. Previously their shredded meat at least had some barbecue flavor but now it doesn't even have that. Does anyone know a good pitmaster looking for work? This place needs help. -- SUMMARY: Pretty good, but with some room for improvement. GOOD: Overall great barbecue across the menu. All the meat is flavorful and nicely smoked. Service is friendly. Sides are great. We enjoyed the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. Sides of okra, slaw, and corn were also good. Everyone who works there is nice, and I can see why this is a favorite lunch spot. MEH: My only real criticism is how the brisket is served. They smoke this wonderful meat, but then shred it to a fine pulp. Would taste so much better sliced. The character of a good brisket comes from the slowly rendered connective tissue, and this is lost when the finished product is finely shredded. However, I will say that unlike other places that make this mistake, Bird Dog somehow maintains the brisket flavor and moisture even through shredding. OVERALL: I really like this place, and it was a nice discovery on moving to Fountain. I will be back to try the rest of the menu. Bad. I went in at 12:30 on a Tuesday. Room had one other customer. I ordered brisket and pork spare ribs. Brisket was bland and dry. No bark or sign of a flavorful crust.Pork ribs were thoroughly dried out, tough and over cooked. Dry white bone exposed along the side. One small bite of the rib was enough. I brought my plate to register and said, I think for ribs to be this dry this early in the day, it looks like I'm getting yesterday's old meat. I was offered something else but I lost my appetite for it. They were that bad. I know it's not unusual for a bbq place but it's paper plates and small flimsy cutlery, very annoying. read more

Decided to try this restaurant as we recently pass by. The brisket sandwich was good and a decent size. The okra was also good, very crispy. The mac and cheese was not terrible but did not taste home made, was very artificial tasting. Overall, it's decent and satisfied my BBQ craving but there are a few things I'd add or change. 1.) Home made lemonade. The BBQ place I'd go to in Texas had fresh squeezed lemonade that was amazing. 2.) Upgrade the mac and cheese. The cheese tasted artificial, try a Home made recipe. 3.) This place is super accessible, easy parking and in a convenient location. Definitely need good BBQ around here. The ambiance inside is pretty typical BBQ-jointesque. Came here for a late dinner to go on a Friday evening. We were quickly taken care of. The staff was friendly and more than generous with the meat. They are very personable and made our evening! The prices were especially reasonable for the amount of food we got and for how delicious it was. We got the spud with pulled pork and ribs and fried okra with the mild and spicy sauce on the side. The meat was delicious, flavorful (even without the sauce), and so filling. I loved the flavors the sauce added. The okra was fresh and plenty, definitely ate every last bite! The place is of the basic strip mall variety with bare floors, plastic/metal/formica furniture, and a hot table where your order the food stored within. So much for atmosphere. The staff were friendly enough, but did little more than plate the food, hand it to us, and take our money, apparently expecting a tip like most places these days that do not offer table service. Having lived in Texas and more recently Kansas City, I was not overly impressed with the barbecue and the hamburger buns were straight out of a bag clearly in view on the rack behind the counter. We ordered through Door Dash one night. We had a Pulled Pork Sandwich and a Brisket and Sausage Sandwich. We also ordered Apple and Peach cobblers. While the BBQ Sauce was good, that was the only item with any flavor. :( The buns of the Sandwiches were store bought, the meat wasn't spiced at all, the coleslaw on the pulled pork sandwich was bland and the peaches in the cobbler were canned peaches.
