The wafting smoke lured us in and we could not be happier with what we found. Firehouse has the usual selction of smoked meats and we opted for the combo plates - brisket and pulled pork for her and brisket and chicken for me. Generous portions with a rich, complex smokiness. For sides we selected the baked beans, cole slaw, and potato salad. Heaping helpings of home made goodness! Of note, the beans were infused with that same smoke flavor that characterized the meats. Highly recommend Firehouse in Black Forest!

My husband had the brisket plate, and I went with the pork ribs. Both were very tender and flavorful--though we wouldn't have minded a bit more smoky flavor. The coleslaw and beans were average, but nothing off-putting like some reviews suggested. They also have a great taproom with a wide beer selection, which is a nice bonus if you're looking to relax with a drink. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the views from the windows were absolutely beautiful. Overall, a great lunch spot we'd happily visit again.

It's where my husband wanted to try for his birthday dinner so we invited some friends and visited last night. The service was really great- Lexi was a delight and everyone else we encountered was kind and helpful. We were taken care of really well. We loved the look and feel of the restaurant (which has some really cool blue decor and windows from the former Greek restaurant there.) They had fun music playing that we enjoyed. There's a great view of the mountains from the restaurant and they have a great patio area too which would give you even better views! My husband and friends got the Crawfish pie appetizer and they all thought it was flavorful, yummy and had a flaky crust- they said it was the perfect appetizer. My husband got the seasonal Pecan Ale from Abita Brewing (from Louisiana of course) and thought it was delicious, drinkable, and just mildly nutty. He got the chicken andouille gumbo and described it as "zingy" and appreciated that the chicken in it was really tender which isn't always the case in gumbo. One of our friends got the shrimp and grits and said it had the perfect ratio of shrimp to grits and joked that most of the places you order this dish you get "shri and grits" because there is hardly any shrimp. ;) He said it was "on point". The presentation was really nice on this dish too. Our other friend got the shrimp étouffée and thought it had the perfect amount of heat. She was really sad because she accidentally spilled her leftovers when trying to package them up, and Lexi kindly gave her another small portion for her to take home even though it wasn't the restaurant's fault at all- such great service. I am a boring, picky eater so wasn't sure what to get, but found the popcorn chicken really tasty and I also really liked the side of red beans and rice! They don't use MSG in their cooking like many other cajun restaurants do. Everything was the perfect temperature and came out quickly and together. ((This is a restaurant where you order at the counter, by the way.) We got to share both desserts on the menu- the beignets were hot and delicious, and we had to fight for the small amount that was leftover of the praline bread pudding with rum sauce- whoa! We loved the flavor, texture, sauce, and generous pecans. We had a really good experience and highly recommend this new restaurant- go visit!!

The guy working here is a one man show and was extremely pleasant and inviting. He had me try the fresh squeezed lemonade. He offers flavors for add in and I chose peach. It was so tasty and refreshing. The oxtails were tender, and well seasoned. The side dishes were on point and the amount of food for the price point was appropriate.
