Trash pile #1 in the beginning of our stay.
    Melissa R.

The owner of this campground is the most horrible person that I've ever dealt with, from the moment that I arrived there I was very displeased with the whole campground & then the owner came to our campsite's & treated us badly. We were watched all the time by everyone & spyed on { stalked } by a lot of people who tried to act like they were you're friends but really they were reporting back to her { Mary } the owner. The men's restroom has a sewage problem that makes sewage flies come up in the ladies room. The light in the ladies room only stays on like about 5 minutes & then goes out. And the one night I went to use the ladies room on my way back to my tent site after picking food up at the front entrance like you're supposed to, & I couldn't use the restroom because it was locked due to the fact that some woman was in the ladies room with a man. It's pretty clear when you hear a man's voice coming from the other side of the ladies room door. About 3 days into our stay someone took a American flag & displayed it in a very dishonorable way that made my nephew & his partner both feel uncomfortable, being my nephew is part spanish as his partner is full spanish. I myself felt very uncomfortable about it as well because I didn't like how it wasn't there & then it suddenly showed up & was there for the rest of our stay. This is not a campground that I recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy themselves & have their families have a good time, to go & visit because the staff is rude & you're stalked { spyed } on all time if they don't like you.

From the Moment we arrived. The owner (Mary Fulton) was the most disrespectful person that I've met at a campground ever. I have camped in places from California to Florida to all over Pennsylvania and never quite found a place as horrible as this one. The Owner gets in your face and screams if there are any complaints about anything you did even if you didn't do it. She will penalize you just based off of other campers word. Every camper knows Mary despite being said that they don't. Rest assured you'll be watched and spied on closely as we were. There are abandoned campers and huge scrap piles that you can be hurt on. Across from tent site 3 and 4. There is a trash pile that has more scrap. It gets more added to it daily. So while you camp. You can be really close to everyone's scrap. The one bathroom has broken piping and so you step in sewage inevitably every time you use the bathroom. There is sewage issues around multiple RV sites. There are electric issues so while you camp you can hear generators run all night long while you're trying to sleep. The owner was racist toward myself and my Puerto Rican partner who I camped with there. And displayed an American flag in a dishonorable manner directly across from our campsite.

    campers enjoying band night

Enjoyed my stay at Birchview campground. Is it a camping experience? No, more of an RV park with a few tent spots, but it was just what I needed. It is remote check in, which is fine by me. A map with your name and campsite number is placed on an outdoor accessible rack with sharpie drawn directions to your site. Very easy to understand. It has a lovely pool and pond and seems set up for dog lovers. It had a small but useful dog park and poop bag stations and trash disposals at every green space, As I was traveling with my dog, for a dog agility trial, it was great. I was afraid before I arrived that I might be in a less than tolerant area of Pa. I've seen signs in yards that make me wary. I was delighted to see an equality flag flying at the camp entrance. Made me feel safer. There was a good band at the bandstand Saturday night. Glad I didn't pick the tent site next to the bandstand, LOL. When they say quiet time starts at 10, it does, and it was quite peaceful at night. Bathrooms were clean. Camp was clean. Store was not open at hours convenient to me, but there is a Turkey Hill 5 mins. away. yes, I did see the abandoned trailers at the far end of the park. I liked them. Imagined fixing them up, very museum-ish. Will go again if I need to camp in that area.

Great place to pack up the family and go camping. Very family oriented campground. Guaranteed to have a great time.

We camped at French Creek State Park for Easter weekend (3 nights, 4 days), and overall it was a…read morereally solid trip with one pretty noticeable downside. We stayed in Loop C, where our group has camped for the past few years. The sites themselves are decent some a little tighter than others, but generally well maintained. Each spot has a partial paved pad for the camper, a gravel area with a fire ring, and a picnic table. It's wooded, quiet, and has that classic PA campground feel. There's plenty to do here... hiking trails, a lake for canoeing, disc golf, a playground, and a large pool (closed during our stay but opens Memorial Day weekend). The campground was actually pretty full for Easter weekend, which says a lot about how popular it is. Park rangers are definitely present and take rules seriously (especially bikes without helmets or lights), which is great for safety. But... the bathhouse situation needs attention. For a loop with around 40 sites including tents, campers, yurts, and cabins-- there were only 2 showers and 2 restrooms. On top of that, cleanliness and upkeep just weren't where they should be for a state park. That was honestly the biggest letdown of the trip. We also had some rough weather, but that's camping... you roll with it. Overall, it's a beautiful park with a lot to offer, and we'll likely be back. Just hoping the bathhouse situation gets some upgrades, because that's the one thing holding it back from being a really great campground.

Having been to Muddy Run park throughout my life for various things (weddings, boating, etc) the splash park is relatively new and I was eager to check it out. Best thing about it...IT'S TOTALLY FREE! While it may be on the small side it's loads of fun for kids of all ages, with buckets that dump, spritzers that spray, nozzles that shoot, and cascading water everywhere. There's so many features that they can interact with and ways to get wet - alittle or alot - your choice. The pad is clean and colorful with a retaining wall where parents can sit and keep a close eye. It's surrounded by a grassy area with picnic tables, shade trees, and a playground. You can have a picnic, or just soak in the sun's rays. While it's about a 40 minute drive from Lancaster City it's worth the trip as there's other things to do in the park - fish, boat, ride bike, trails, camp, ride horses, etc. GPS did send me the wrong way but once you find the park the signage will lead you right to it. I was pleasantly surprised by the behavior of the kids there, and parents were pretty attentive. There's a bathroom a short walk away, which we didn't go in, as well as an employee monitoring (but not lifeguarding) the area. The splash pad has it's on designated parking lot. We'll definately go back in 2021
