WHAT'S UP, BIRCHES?! This surprisingly spacious boutique specializing in home décor, apparel and accessories, like the Tardis, is much bigger on the inside than it appears. Unfortunately, the prices are also larger than other, similar shops in the area (Carousel in Snoqualmie, for example). There's more stock here, as a result of its size, and it's collection is arguably better curated and more stylish than most, depending on your taste. It's the kind of place my wife and I would love to shop, if things were a bit more affordable, but YMMV. Still, Birches Habitat is definitely worth checking out for the style-conscious consumer, and absolutely the best boutique in North Bend! You may find better deals at the outlet mall, but you're not likely to find anything as swanky! read more

Staying at Salish and walked into this gift shop with my husband to buy a few gifts my daughter. There's so much to look at that I was taking a bit long while my husband was perusing around. We're Hispanic and definitely got the vibe that one of the staff members was nervous we were going to steal something! The woman asked if my husband needed help 4x in the span of 20 minutes. He stepped outside to get reception and when he returned, she says "back again, I see". He met up with me towards the back wanting to leave and then she came up to ask if she could hold our items up at the front, I guess because she thought we were in cahoots. The whole thing is extra hilarious because we could easily afford to buy the entire store 4x over. My one regret is that my husband didn't share his experience beforehand so that I wouldn't have given them my money. Lesson learned. read more

What a gem of a store located in downtown North Bend! Loved by locals and visitors alike, I personally appreciate being able to 'shop local' and find a gift for someone or perhaps myself. This is my favorite store it is full of everything of every love you could possibly want and need. It is beautifully decorated, and has reasonable quality clothing, fabulous decor, jewelry, unique photography, the help is always so kind and on spot. My home is filled with every corner of this store from beautiful large down pillows, clothing, jewelry, wonderful perfumes and candles. Truly this store is a reasonably priced gem!! Nice store in the town of North Bend, with home accessories, stationary and gifts, and women's clothing. I was in North Bend for a meeting and had some time to kill, so spotted Birches Habitat nearby to check out, as it's located right in the downtown area. Birches Habitat is a local, small business that has a lot to check out! I saw their window display, which drew me in, and as I entered the store, the staff was starting to unpack lots of Christmas inventory! Already sold. In addition to seasonal items, there are unique and decorative items for your home, from plush pillows to prints and even decor for your dog! The store is split into two main rooms, the first where the home furnishings are and the back part has more home accessories, with women's clothing. I'm happy to see small businesses like Birches Habitat make a home in a small town like North Bend. It's a much needed business, offering fun gifts, home decor, apparel and more. I was in North Bend on February 28th with a group of local real estate pros. We were roaming around downtown North Bend doing a mobile marketing class and stopped in at Birches Habitat. It was my first visit. I absolutely adore this little shop. Indeed it is wonderfully eclectic, soulful, and remarkable. I'm not a gal, so the clothes didn't interest me except for the fact I want to tell my gal friends and my daughters about it. But I did really love all the art pieces, quality home decor items and gifts. It was so fun to discover the treasures they have here. They also carry made in Washington and locally themed items. They also have a really nice selection of quality special day cards. Our group kind of took over the place like a flash mob for a few minutes as we came through the door. But the owner and help were totally welcoming, gracious, friendly, and we all had a good laugh and conversation. The one thing that really stands out to me is the variety and quality of the items they have for sale. I can totally see why they got so many 5 star reviews here on Yelp. The Birches Habitat is everything I love about small businesses done right. If you have that special someone in your life that you really want to gift with something out of the ordinary. Birches is my go-to when I need to find beautiful, interesting gifts. I am nearly always successful, even when shopping for guy friends/family. The only problem is that I also nearly always come away with a "gift" for myself. Usually it's a new dress, because Birches always has very unique women's fashion-- often cuter than I'd find in Seattle boutiques, and at waaay better prices. That's not to say dirt cheap, but I still always feel like I got a good deal. And judging by the number of compliments I've received while wearing Birches dresses, it seems a few other people agree :) I really love some of the home décor too, especially the paintings. Someday when I'm rich and/or don't buy a new dress every month... This is also one of the places I take my out-of-town friends and family when they visit. The ladies, young and old, have all really enjoyed it. A lot of the merchandise has a subtle PNW/Seattle feel, without being tacky. Meanwhile the guys wander over to the offbeat books collection and browse about Weird Washington. Oh, and the owners/staff are super nice, with a clear interest in the community. Not only is this place right next to my fav. coffee place in town (Toad's) but it is lovely! I go with my mother a couple times a month. Any way you like to dress up your home Birches has something you won't be able to live without. They have cloths that change with the seasons (silver jeans too), jewelry, and gifts. The owners are really nice and helpful! They maintain a facebook and are constantly uploading pictures of new items. If you LOVE ETSY this is worth the trip. I absolutely love this store for the unique and quirky! I often have to force myself to leave, wishing I had enough money to buy the entire store. They have some very pricey (in my opinion) items, however they also have some extremely affordable pieces. They have a great range of inventory and they are always getting new cool things.
