All that changed when I started working in conversation groups with "Prof. Jacques". His way of teaching is warm and welcoming, and his close attention to what you are saying allows you to "think in French" without worrying about making mistakes. When it comes to helping you learn the nuances of the language, he remembers little things that you say and brings up later the ways that a native speaker would have put it. If I hadn't met Jacques, I never would have reached the level I have now, which is what in the French system is around "high B-2" or "low C-1". I'll always be grateful for my time working with him.

From the start, the experience felt disorganized and emotionally exhausting. The course didn't use a clear grading rubric--trainers graded based on vibes, not criteria. Feedback was minimal, which made it almost impossible to improve. Instead of walking away confident and prepared, I left feeling like a worse teacher than when I started. What really pushed this over the edge for me was the student visa situation. ITA heavily advertises that Americans can legally work in Spain by enrolling in their "Student Visa Program." They even imply you can teach full-time. What they don't say is that legal work under a student visa requires an extra authorization process that most schools refuse to do. I only found this out after spending thousands and being rejected by employers who said my visa wasn't valid for work. ITA's staff even admitted in writing that many graduates work "cash in hand" (aka illegally) and brushed it off like it's just how things work in Spain. For the money they charge, I expected professionalism, clarity, and legal accuracy. Instead, I got stress, vague answers, and no real path to employment. Please be careful before trusting this company with your money or your future.

The class was definitely more expensive than other ESL certifications, but it was comprehensive and for an online class I learned a lot. More impressive however is their life long job search aid. They walked me through every step of the process and I know that even years later, if I were to go back to them looking to teach abroad again, they would be the reason I would find a job. The materials need to be spell-checked and there were a few things in the exercises (tarea) that made me wonder "Why is that even in here?" I found it could be more challenging (no!) What they offer here is not what they will teach you at a university; having taken college-level Spanish (years ago; I didn't want to pay the hefty fee), I found this to be much less comprehensive - less homework, less reading, and less writing (no!). But, no one is forcing you to take exams/do the homework and so you learn at your own discretion (yes!). So with all this said, know what you want to get out of this; it's sort of what you make of it. Their services are more so for the person who wants to speak, rather than read and write. It's useful if you want to learn very quickly and have other Spanish-speakers around you to practice with (please let me emphasize that - I wouldn't have been as sharp without my bilingual friends!).

Now 6 months later they follow directions, they sit for circle time, and love Senora Maria Emilia. They see the same classmates and the class keeps growing. I take them Saturday mornings from 9:30am- 12:30pm not only do they get to eat lunch there but it is a great BREAK for me to run errands and enjoy the famers marker without two 2 yr. old toddler twins. When they initially started going like any other child they would cry for Mommy, Maria Emilia asked me to stay in the lobby and she would call me if any assistance was needed. There were a few times where I had to sit in class with them to help ease the separation anxiety. Now they run into class when the door opens! The kids love Beth at the front desk and this place gives you a good home feeling. I would recommend this program to any parent particularly twin mommies... Teachers write emails to their class parents at least once a week, they are accessible and very willing to work with your child if there is a special need/learning deficit.
