GO HERE! It's a great value and super interactive. I have already bought classes for friends. I attended the French Beginner II class and near the end of it took a boot camp. I speak many languages and have learned by many methods, but MLC has one of the best approaches. The classes and boot camp are relevent, and interactive. The teachers have learned via scholastic methods, but have spent a lot of time in France and can provide extensive and nuanced insight into the culture. The amount of what you learn is pretty intense for the time you spend there - in a good way! Additionally, every aspect is interactive and helps for those who have different learning styles (auditory, analytical, visual). For example, to practice French numbers we used a card game. To practice shopping and asking "how much..." we each had products and acted like vendors and customers. Through a strange series of events, I recently received a handwritten letter in Polish that my grandmother had sent in 1952. I called Multilingual Connections on the off chance that somebody would be able to translate the letter for me, and I was thrilled to receive a beautiful translation within a day. I love Multilingual Chicago for the 3-5 year-old Spanish class that my daughter attends; she loves her teacher, Anna, as well as the other students and the fun toys and games. First of all, you go in and they have a nice little loungy area. Free tea, wine, snacks. Free wifi. Nice and newly decorated. Cute too. Love the Latin American art work in the bathrooms. Super nice staff. So, as for the classes, have only attended 3 but can tell you, great teachers. Make you feel at ease, fun activities, mix it up, etc.. The book they use is great! The benefit of working with Multilingual is that they have translators immediately available, so I received the translated documents back very quickly. My experience with Multilingual Connections has been excellent! I needed to have certified English translations prepared for both Arabic and Russian academic transcripts, diplomas, and other relevant documents to provide to Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE). The translations were completed quickly. The project manager assigned to my documents communicated with me frequently and professionally. Everything was handled through e-mail, which was very convenient. The final documents have been accepted by ECE and are now on their way to the National American Board of Pharmacy for evaluation. I am a new student in Spanish at Multilingual Chicago, and I am so impressed with the program. I have tried other language classes in Chicago,and have continually become discouraged with my progress thus never really becoming successful in the learning of the language. These guy are great and nice as can be. I took Spanish 1 with Tony. He was great. We had a class of 4 people. He was patient and never made us feel stupid because we were learning too slow or weren't catching on. My only problem is that my life is so hectic I didn't really have time to practice and study. You need to do that to get the most out of it. It's still definitely worth it. I will be back to take another class, but after I can manage to free up some time. Adrienne does the scheduling and is great at communication via email and really easy to work with. They also have some free lectures that are very worthwhile going to and a lot of fun. An update on the response from Multilingual. I was told I could attend a language boot camp free of charge (a $150 value) due to my less-than-stellar experience with my Arabic course, but since I'm moving out of town I asked if I could instead have a partial refund for the class I already took. I was told this is not possible, so that's that. My feelings still stand: this place does not understand language pedagogy and has sub-standard instructors. In addition, you're paying more for a course here, hour for hour, than you'd pay at an Illinois university or one of the numerous tech colleges in town. read more

I took a class here after getting one of the YouSwoop deals-the Spanish bootcamp class to be exact this past Sunday. The classrooms were very modern and they even had a lunchroom with tea, coffee, and snacks. Very nice. The staff is super friendly. I've heard there is free parking right by the school, but I parked nearby in the neighborhood. They have a lot of activities to practice the language throughout the class so that keeps one from getting bored. I realized definitely though that I learn better by reading first, and the class is more listening and comprehending and for a person with me with a nearly nonexistent attention span, it probably won't work, but the classes are good, and I'm sure someday I'll be back. read more

Last June, just days before Fathers Day - and the day I was due to arrive to my father's house for our annual week-long visit, my father died unexpectedly. You might wonder what this has to do with a translating service review? I think anyone who loses a parent unexpectedly (or anyone close to them really) has a lot to deal with immediately following the death. And it is such a dark and difficult time. To complicate matters, my father died in another country but still had business dealings in Chicago and everyone wanted a copy of his death certificate. Of course no one would accept a copy of his death certificate as it was in Spanish. We offered to translate ourselves it but were told it would need to be certified. As I sat at my sister's apartment late on a Monday night, having had a few libations and sobbing uncontrollably, I was trying to work through the mountain of things we had to do. I started looking for a translator service that could do a quick turn around on a simple, one page (but legal government document) - with certification. I happened across Multilingual Connections. I liked their site and decided to send out several requests so that we would hopefully get some information back the following day. I sent a late night message (probably somewhat incoherent) and immediately heard back from Jill Bishop - the owner. (At almost 10 pm!) First, she sent condolences on the loss of my father. Then, she told me that they would help us and agreed to turn it around in one day and at a VERY SIGNIFICANT discount. The other companies wanted hundreds of dollars for what she did and at least a few days to do it! It was such a blessing to have found them. I can't tell you what a beacon of kindness Jill and her staff were to us during that dark time and restored a bit my faith in humanity. The people who lend you a helping hand during a difficult time will always be remembered. I think it is a true testament to the kind of business they operate. Just completed the one day Spanish boot camp. I have taken many language classes, intensive workshops, etc. and by far, this class was THE BEST. Our instructor, Tony, rocked it. He is an excellent teacher - engaging, clear, fun, and most importantly, taught in a very natural style emphasizing recognizing patterns and using Spanish to converse immediately. I came away with strategies and tools to continue to grow my Spanish conversation skills. I have never learned so much in one day. Best possible way to prepare for a trip or to jump start seriously studying Spanish. In addition, the staff, Jennifer, was very nice, cheerful and helpful. They even take your order for lunch from the local taqueria, and the tacos were delicious! read more

I attended Multilingual's "Spanish Boot Camp" last Sunday and could not recommend it more. For someone who is interested in a friendly and approachable "crash course" in Spanish, this is a great place to start. With a small class size and a patient teacher, we covered fundamental Spanish conversation skills that could actually procure a conversation at the end. Tony, the instructor, did a great job focusing on the "bigger picture" and making the Spanish we were learning tailored to our own lives. In addition, he gave us practical "homework" that included: speaking with Spanish-speaking coworkers, diary entries in Spanish and tips on ways to incorporate learning into our daily lives. Though I haven't attended yet, Multilingual also offers a free conversation group every Wednesday from 7-9 that I'm itching to try. I only wish that the school had even more class times available to fit my schedule. If so, I'd be signing up for more. read more
