Kalahari - Two Queen bed room

Kalahari

(1.3k reviews)

Our family just returned from an unforgettable Spring Break at Kalahari Resorts Poconos, and I…read morecan't emphasize enough how incredible our experience was! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the vibrant atmosphere that felt both family-friendly and tailored to adults. The water park was a huge hit with our two girls, offering a wide array of slides that catered to all ages. Whether it was the thrilling rides or the relaxing wave pool, there was always something to keep the whole family entertained. One standout feature of our trip was the food. In previous resort experiences, we've often found ourselves disappointed by the dining options, but Kalahari shattered those expectations! The variety and quality of meals were truly exceptional. From quick snacks and Starbucks coffee, to gourmet meals at one of their multiple restaurants, every bite was delicious. It was refreshing to find such a diverse menu that pleased my wife, the kids, and me. We also appreciated the thoughtful layout of the resort. It was easy to find comfortable places to relax, and while it did take some hunting , we did manage to find a table each day. The array of jacuzzis was another bonus, with both family-friendly and 21-and-over options. Overall, our stay at Kalahari Resort Poconos was filled with fun and memorable moments. If you're looking for a place that offers a perfect blend of excitement and comfort, this is the spot!

However, the room was quite weathered - peeling furniture, urine stench, and low pressure frigid showers. As for the waterpark, there are many things to do for little ones to adults! So many options, but yet again, the water was so cold my son's lips turned blue and couldn't stay in the play structure very long. We've been to all the water parks in the area during the winter and this was definitely the coldest. Overall, the kids had a blast but don't come in the water unless you like cold showers and waterslides.

They continuously charged my card for things I never purchased, and trying to get answers from customer service has been impossible. I've emailed multiple times asking for clarification on the charges, and they either ignore the emails completely or never follow up. The experience at the resort itself was disappointing too. Several rides and areas in the waterpark were shut down without warning. The first day, parts of the park were closed, and the second day the main family ride was closed the entire time with no explanation. For the amount of money this place costs, that's unacceptable. The food situation was another issue. Most of the restaurants were basically closed, the menu options were limited, and everything was extremely overpriced. We ended up eating off property the entire trip because the food choices just weren't worth it. The waterpark itself is also much smaller than advertised and feels designed mainly for younger kids, not older children or families looking for a bigger experience. We've had much better experiences at Great Wolf Lodge and will continue going there instead. Overall, this place was a huge disappointment and absolutely not worth the money or stress. I would not recommend staying here.

Tomahawk Lake Water Park

Tomahawk Lake Water Park

This review will be short and sweet as it is solely based upon entrance fees…read more Impromptu family decision to have a "day at the lake" today since the weather was perfect. Headed to Tomahawk Lake as it was our go to once upon a time. The price PER PERSON (not per car load) was $22 ... and that was NOT including the water park. If you wanted to add on entrance to the water park it was ANOTHER $15 PER PERSON! We were a party of 4 adults and 3 teens and it would've literally been $259 to ENTER the lake!!!!! AIN'T NO WAY! For that price we could've done a real amusement park, a real water park ... a real lotta other things worth $259. Needless to say we ventured elsewhere but wanted everyone to be aware of this absolute absurdity before wasting your time and gas venturing up there.

My husband found this place nearby when Lake Hopatcong was full by the time we arrived. I've never…read moreheard of it but it seemed to have a vintage vibe, so OK I'm game. I regretted it right away. It's ridiculously crowded - no problem with parking as they sure made extra space in the back, but driving to the back woods parking lot I was afraid we were gonna hit someone cos of people walking indifferently on the paths. The tiny "beach" is made of hard packed sand, the texture of a dirt road. There are many garbage cans around, which, I appreciate that as there's nothing worse than trash on the ground, but I also don't want to be sitting next to one. There are some picnic tables in the further grassy areas that seemed more chill but the tables close to the water could not be crammed any closer together. The water where kids are playing in is murky and gross looking, as to be expected cos sediments stir up, but this just does not look clean and is way too full of people. And I would not call this a water park - it's a lake with some dingy play structures on it and some boat rides. There also don't seem to be enough lifeguards for this many kids. Summer prices (July 1-Aug 20) are $20pp over 9yo, and $18 for under 9, but you have to pay additionally for the water slides ($13-$17) and other activities. You might as well take your family to a proper waterpark for this price. Maybe once upon a time it was cute as people seem to have nostalgic memories of this place (and they definitely trade on the camp nostalgia), but it seems the park operator is only interested in packing in as many people as possible to the detriment of the experience. There is good live music with a guy playing old time rock n roll, they have hash browns yay (3 for $2.50), and my toddler had fun regardless of my lack of enjoyment or relaxation, hence the extra star.

I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.

Though the wave pool was a lot of fun and at a comfortable temperature. We enjoyed the different slides/rides that were open including the Venus fly trap. I spent a lot of time in the indoor/outdoor jacuzzi. I like that it opened up outdoor to enjoy the jacuzzi outside as well. My favorite part was the swim up bar. It was sit, drink and relax while the kids tired themselves out.

0 stars -- Extremely disappointing and awful, dirty, stressful experience…read more I've stayed at Camelback Resort / Aquatopia several times before and always had great experiences, which made this visit even more shocking. I booked a one-night stay months in advance (back in November) to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I arrived around 12:30 PM on March 30, 2026, with six children and was told I'd receive a text when our room was ready. That text never came. Around 5:00 PM, I checked in again and was told the room would be ready in 10 minutes. I went up about 35 minutes later--only to find the room hadn't been cleaned at all. I then received a check-in confirmation text at 6:31 PM, but the room was still dirty. I went back to the front desk, waited again, and was told we were now "top priority" and should go to dinner while they finished preparing the room. After returning around 9:30 PM, the room still wasn't ready, and no one could give me a clear timeline. By 10:00 PM, we were essentially told to just keep waiting--with six kids and no place to go. To make matters worse, there was little to no urgency or accountability from management. The front desk employee was kind but clearly overwhelmed, and it was obvious this situation was bigger than her. There were multiple families in the lobby in the same situation--waiting late into the night with children and no rooms available. I also saw many families leaving with their suitcases. At that point, with no clean room, no answers, and no safe or reasonable option, I made the difficult decision to leave and drive two hours home late at night with six children. My daughter's birthday celebration was completely ruined. I also reached out to the resort via Instagram the following day (and again the day after, and again today), shared photos, and left my contact information--but received no response, other than an DM on Instagram stating I will be contacted. I have also left reviews from their survey, as well as sent an email last night, still no response. Beyond the inconvenience, this raises serious concerns about cleanliness and overall management. Being given a dirty, unprepared room at that hour is unacceptable. I am still waiting for: Anyone to contact me from Camelback! Also, I am requesting a full refund and clear communication from management as well as them accepting accountability for how this situation was handled. This was an incredibly disappointing experience, especially for what was supposed to be a special occasion. I truly hope the resort takes steps to improve both their operations and customer service moving forward. I also hope they make it right for my family.
