Biomat USA - Blood & Plasma Donation Centers Near Me - Sparks, Nevada

I have been assaulted here on two different occasions. The most recent, today, was by 2 staff members. When you remove consent from plasma withdrawal, or the removal of a needle, re-stick, to stop being touched in any way, a different phlebotomist, etc and the employee(s) refuse, and withdraw anyway, it is assault or possibly even battery. I asked the needle to be removed today. the first employee refused. The second employee that came to "help" aided in her refusal of my revoked consent of withdrawal of plasma. After asking for removal the second employee then shoved the needle deeper into my vein. Taped me up and then scolded me for "raising my voice" at the first employee. My "raised voice" was "ow ow ow" "yes it still hurts" "please stop pushing down on the needle" and "thank you" after she stopped assaulting me. (Because when she finally let go after begging her, the pain stopped). I thanked this person for stopping her assault on me and I was assaulted again by the second employee (because I already withdrew consent) and then scolded by the second employee for being in pain out loud , asking her to stop, and thanking her for the end of her assault. I left in tears. I was visibly crying for over 10 minutes. Finally after the withdrawal of plasma was done against my consent, a third employee asked if I was okay. Removed the needle and added the bandage. Asked if I wanted to wait to see if I was okay. No, I left immediately. I find it very convenient that no one noticed my distress until after the plasma was withdrawn and finished. I have only withdrawn consent twice. Only at this location. Out of both times that I withdrew consent both times I was denied and assaulted. This is a 100% rate. 2/2. I have been donating for 7 years. I have had other problems at this specific location. No issues at any other location, or plasma donation center. For 7 years. My only complaints have been to this specific location. For 7 years I have only withdrawn consent at this location! both times I was refused! read more

After CSL closed, I was referred to go to this specific plasma place above any else by one of the nurses at CSL. She was NOT wrong. This place is niiice. I have gone to BioLife's all over Utah since I was a college kid(I'm 32 now) and this has to be one of the nicest, perfectly coordinated plasma centers I have ever been to. It's very clean, the workers are ALL a 10/10 and so fun to chat with, they are fast but GOOD at their jobs. They really do care and thrive to be the best. There has never been a time I have had to wait, even when I forgot to schedule. My boyfriend has came with me the last two times I donated and he used me as a referral and after his 2nd donation I received $100 bonus. These people know what they are doing. I wish I would have came here rather than CSL who is closed down for what now it seems like "good reason." I wouldn't go to the other Grifols though in down town Reno if you like high standard facilities. This one in Sparks takes the win! Also for all my ladies and gentlemen that don't like their weight screamed out, THEY ASK IF YOU WANT TO KNOW! 10/10 and I have only been here for 11 donations I believe now. This place is AWESOME. Super relaxed staff. Even when I saw them deal with a group of 3 disgruntled people who found out none of them qualified (which was understandable, they seemed sketch the moment I walked in) they were totally calm and the people actually left feeling like their frustration was completely understood but there was no way around their being denied. They made absolutely sure I knew what I was doing, what to do if I started to feel weird during the donation, and assured me if I wanted to stop the donation, I could at any moment, no questions asked. Also, they let me know if I did start to feel unwell, more than likely, they could help me feel better within 10 minutes. (Don't take my word for what that means, it could be different person to person, let them decide how serious your reaction is, if you have one) Lastly, their machine wasn't working properly when I went to donate, (sounded like it said I wasn't producing any plasma even though there was clearly blood in the container) and so they didn't get a full donation from me but they gave me the full $100 for being a first time doner anyway! The staff is very personable and I can honestly say that the whole vibe in that place makes it beyond easy to show up and make life saving donations for some extra bucks twice a week. I love this location! I've been coming for just over 4 months. I've used both Reno and Sparks locations. I switched because the Sparks location is closer to my house. I'm always greeted when I walk it, and 99% of the time it's by name. Initial screening is quick and always a fun time as we chat about the weekend or the weeks events. I'm usually screened and brought back within 10 minutes of signing in. I have an apprehtion for needles and I've never had a bad experience being stuck. The actual process is painless and I have never felt ill afterwards. The staff is very attentive to the beeps of the machines and are quick to correct any issues. Are you looking to help your fellow man, Are you healthy, while helping your wallet with some extra cash? If you answered yes to either question then your in luck. Did you know that unlike donating blood you can donate plasma at a faster rate. Donations can be twice a week, but here is a sneak peek in how my journey was with this place. From the moment I walked in I was comfortable because due to the generosity an pleasant staff they have I knew I was in good hands. So your initial first time is the longest time you'll have here. So be prepared I was here maybe 2 hours before I even got into the donor chair. You go through paperwork, a physical, fingerprinting, it's not a background check it's how they have you get onto the kiosk for the questionnaire so no worries. Then from there you will have the okay to proceed to the back where you find yourself going into where you donate. When I got in here I felt odd like intimidated I dont know why but I just did, it was my first time donating plasma. But when I got into my chair, I was able to choose what arm, and your able to witness them pull everything out from new wrappers, as the staff PREPARE you for the initial injection of the needle, it is new and stirle as is everything they use. They do us a brown substance to clean the spot for the needle. Oops sorry I forgot what it was called. As the assistant was preparing me tho it was funny tho because shes trying to find a vein on me an I simply made her giggle an relax as i said "If you can't get it the first time just keep stabbing til we hit something okay" she laughed and it was a great experience. The process will vary for each individual, but my process was about 45min to donate, after my donation the staff come periodically to check on you but when your all finished they come over and go through some things telling you to eat and hydrate and all that, then after I was all wrapped up an off the chair you wait a few minutes for them to bring out your card that will be loaded every time you donate. Im happppppy to announce that I enjoyed the experience and will highly recommend anyone to become a donor. read more

I have been coming here for several years and it has slowly been going down hill. I'm not sure what the point of having a scheduled time because you just sit and wait in the waiting room for an hour before getting screened. After that, you wait even longer to get seated and start. When you are done, you sit and wait with the needle in your arm even longer.. the whole experience shouldn't take longer than an hour, but I seem to be spending my whole morning there. I don't know what changed, it used to be a great experience. read more

Usually I have a great experience here but super disappointed tonight. My son and I have been donating here for a couple months and tonight we were 5 min late, actually entering the building 6 min late. We have been 5 min late before and there has never been any mention of any policy of being tuned away for it. Nor does it mention that when you make your appointment. The woman manning the desk made a big deal, said she needed to talk to the manager to see if we could still donate. By the time she came back (after us waiting at the desk for 2 minutes) she came back at 6:53 and told us that there is a 6 min grace period but because we were 8 min late we couldn't donate. Excuse me? We walked in at 6:51. After her leaving and us waiting it was 8 min. Anyhow, we just left but I live 30 min away from the donation location so I just feel so angry!! We were within the grace period (that we never knew anything about) and then turned away! So so so disappointing!! read more

Beware! Results get put into other peoples files. Hopefully as a donor, in the future they are not diagnosed with any deadly disease or that could be noted into the wrong donor file. I was lucky enough to have this happen to me (Sarcasim) but thank god that i caught it. Time to stop donating! :( Scares me to know that staff is not concerened that this happens. Its a sad day when you try to help others, yet you fear others actions could effect your medical file in a negative way. I was a steady donor for almost 2 years, first Reno, then Sparks. Never caused any problems, always got along well with staff. (Great staff & facility, aside from one staffer). No medical problems beyond a mild case of osteoarthritis. I mean, literally none. No risk factors, no illnesses, blood disorders - nothing. Then I found out, going through my late mother's files, that I had had a minuscule heart defect at birth, which resolved itself by the time I was 11. Forty one years ago. I had no idea. My parents never mentioned it. Clearly not that serious an issue, just something that was monitored with a yearly visit until I outgrew it. Since I was due for my Grifols physical, I told them as we went over the checklist, because that's what you're supposed to do, right? Their reaction? Instant permanent deferment. Not because it made a medical difference (clearly, a tiny defect that had healed nearly half a century ago isn't going to resurrect itself), but because I hadn't told them before. If I had known about it, I would have. Additionally, the Grifols rep was so nasty about it - calling me a liar, etc - that I left in tears. It's just sad that Grifols would treat a steady donor with excellent health in such a shabby way. Donor beware, I guess. If you are a dedicated donor with no health issues, they may still look for any excuse to defer you . read more

These guys are great! They're always friendly, even though the front staff are often really busy. The phlebs are all super friendly and really good at what they do. I'm always really comfortable here. Some reviews talk about the staff as if they're incompetent, evil monsters but I guarantee you, everything they do is for our own safety. I've watched them turn away donors before. It's always a matter of corporate policy, not under their control, and literally so we don't end up injured or dead. They are also always professional about it. My only negative comment is that they don't take appointments for new donors so that process ends up taking a while. Yay! I'm a fan. Since I stopped using my blood in the spring of 2003 it's nice to find a use for it again. I think they make medication with the plasma. I bet they make loads of money. First visit is around three hours long and includes some basic things like your signature and a physical. The donation went well. Fees are actually payments. They are buying your plasma. Neat pay structure. Won't make you rich but the extra holiday cash is perfect and you don't need to be educated to slam $15/hr selling your plasma. read more

I have been a long time blood donor and started donating plasma in 2012 at the Reno Biomat. When a center opened up closer to my home I was stoked! The environment at the Sparks location is welcoming and friendly. All of the staff are extremely nice and go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant experience. I can't say enough about the amazing staff and how personable they are while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Came to this location after several years of not donating at the Reno location. Expected to be here for several hours. As a new don't know I was here at Little after noon and was donating already by 2 o'clock. The first time I have donated at other centers both in Nevada and Idaho I was there for 5 to 6 hours for my first donation. This location has cut it in half. This facility is extremely clean and the staff are very caring and knowledgeable. I had an issue recently, where I allowed too much time between donations which triggered a need for a new physical. During that process, I became quite frustrated and spoke with Susan, Facility Manager. She was extremely polite and understanding of my situation, and offered needed clarification and support. Thanks so much Susan! I subsequently experienced another issue, dealing with my social security card, which was promptly, professionally, and courteously handled by Faby! Thanks Faby, job well done! I was a donor for some time. I was unable to donate for a while because I had to get surgery and then recover. When I went back, not only did they make fun of my name (it was a couple in the staff, I don't know if they were dating or not, but they were flirting and they think that we can't hear them in while we're sitting in the waiting area) but there was a problem with the machine while I was donating (it was something with the tubes.) One of the staff (a blonde woman with a soft voice) decided to mess with the needle in my arm anyway and ask if it was hurting me. I said not really, it was pinching a little. Regardless, she decided to push on my skin around the needle HARD and it resulted in me getting a huge bruise with which I couldn't donate until it healed. I didn't want to go back because after establishing the fact that there was something wrong with the MACHINE they still tried to mess with the needle in my arm. (These people are supposed to be trained?!) I finally decided to go back and give them another chance, but because they can't be bothered to update their website with their own individual rules, I was informed that I had to do ANOTHER physical (apparently the time that you don't donate is shorter for them than it is on the website. Incredible.) I will NEVER return to this place and I hope nobody else does as well. I don't know how I feel about them keeping my file forever either. If you do decide to donate plasma (which IS a good thing to do, don't get me wrong) then save yourself and please try elsewhere than this jungle gym full of overgrown children on East Prater. read more
