Background info: I had never donated plasma before coming here the last week of November 2022. I came here because a newspaper ad that was delivered to my home had a full page ad with the name of this specific Sandy plasma donating center which said that new donors would receive 1,100$ for their first 8 donations combined plus a $50 bonus for being a first timer. I thought this is a great way to pay for Christmas for my three little kids. Said and done all the $$ divided by 8 is about 143$ per donation. I brought the ad with me and was immediately told that they couldn't pay me that even though I was there before the date on the paper ended and there was nothing that said subject to change at any time or anything like that. In fact I'll upload a picture. They would not honor it and said they were only offering $125 to new donors, and only for four appointments not 8 appointments. How can you trust anything they say about pricing if they literally won't honor their very own advertisement? So I get started and after the four hours it takes to get everything done the first time and they had to have two people poke my arm, we finally get everything going and done. Second time, totally easy one needle poke, took about one hour from when I arrived to when I left, so great and i was hoping it would always be like this time going forward. Today my third time, I get there all seems ok until they try to find my vein. Three different people poked my right arm and rearranged it 9 times. I'm bawling right because those needles are huge and not for the faint of heart. Finally they give up and try my other arm. Two tries there and they think they have it. A while later they come back and say my blood keeps starting and stopping and so they return my blood to me and send me home. Everyone keeps apologizing during this whole thing and saying how " it's not my fault " and they were genuine. But now I've got both my arms wrapped and my right arm feels awful and like the insides got rearranged. It's been a few hours now and I still can't even use my right arm correctly. It hurts to straighten it at all, have to leave it bent, I can't open my kitchen cupboards with my right arm or pick up my baby, even holding something lightweight like a cup of water up to drink is painful. In conclusion: I'm frustrated about the newspaper ad they refuse to honor and now also in a lot of pain. ETA: it's Monday morning now (48 hours later) and I still can't use my right arm to hold my steering wheel to drive without significant pain. It hurts enough it's been waking me up at night and disrupting my sleep. read more

I just have to say that this is my favorite place to donate by far! The staff is so kind and professional, and they do make sure that things run smoothly for you. Obviously if you donate you need to be aware of the risks, and you sign things saying you are. There's possibilities for bruising of course, but just like anywhere medical wise, they tell you the risks of donating in the first place. Although they have recently have had longer wait times (even with the appointments) it is understandable due to new employees getting trained. They are very nice and if you do have troubles they will try to help fix the issue as many times needed. It's all in all a great way to tell others in need of plasma and you get a little money out of it! read more

I had an appointment at 430 today, and ended up leaving at 6 after waiting an hour and a half, with no check ins from any staff, while there were multiple employees standing around. Why make an appointment at all at that point? Incredibly unprofessional, and to make things worse, I called many times after to tell them I left with no answer at all. Had my boyfriend try to call them, and no answer. I work in the service industry, so I understand wait times and being patient. After almost an hour and a half of waiting past my appointment time, I finally left because I don't have hours upon hours to spend at the center. It would have even meant something if anyone had even come out and said "hey we're busy, thanks for waiting!", but instead I never had even one person say anything to me. I typically go early morning. New online questionnaire via the Hub is great, it isn't odd for them to stick me within 10 minutes if arrival. Always within 20. They are great to work with. I am part of the Anti-D program. Kelby is always quick to notify me of changes or upcoming tests. Everyone is great. read more

They lie about everything. Total bait and switch. They will send you a text saying what they will pay for your plasma donation. So you rearrange your schedule so you can go donate and they offer you 1/3 of what you were promised. I wish I could upload a screenshot of there texts about compensation. I've donated at all the plasma donation centers around Salt Lake County and this one is by far the best! It is really clean. The staff is very friendly. I don't even have kids that need daycare but it is really cool that they have a very nice, free daycare with all new equipment and you can see the kids through the glass. I'm an engineering students so donating is a good way to keep us financially afloat. Most centers treat everyone like trash that just want a couple bucks for their drug habit (most donors are just regular people). Anyway, the staff treats their customers with respect and they are very friendly. If you're new they pay $75, $50, $50, $75, and then $5 dollars more every time you donate, til the end of the month. If you're not new, it starts at $25, so your fifth donation you get $50 and so on. Even if you're not new, if you donate regularly, you get paid a lot more than all the other places monthly. It's by apt. only so don't just show up there. read more

I'm donating there for only around 4 months and I have enough experiences to make this rate. First, once the lady who was sticking the needle on me passed the needle through my vein, so I got an infiltration and a huge bruise. Second, they took a blood sample to make some exames around two weeks ago, then when I went there to donate today I was told that I could not donate because they did not get the results back. Why didn't they let me know before I went there, since I am required to make an appointment? How I was able to make an appointment if I could not donate? read more

I have been a regular donor for about 3 years now, I just recently started to donate here. Out of 3 centers, I think this would be my favorite. They all have ups and downs. In terms of fees paid, I think they are good. In my experience they are all about the same. Regular fees are about the same, I have not seen any added incentives yet but just 6 weeks in. The do give referral bonuses here, but not sure that is a huge incentive; how many people are you really going to refer? The center is appointment based. All schedule for all visits, so there is a nice flow of doners to staff all the time. This is a huge difference. There is no waiting from what I can see, unlike other centers where depending on the time of day one could be waiting. I am in and out of here in about 60-75 min every time. That is the big difference. Technology is a bit behind here, they use paper charts whereas others are more automated. But the staff is friendly, the play great movies, and you don't have to wait in line. read more

I gave this location 3 MONTHS to fix their problems. I stopped in tonight and there were 18 PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME WAITING TO BE SCREENED. That calculates to about 75-80 minutes of sitting and waiting to be screened. DO NOT go to this location. THEY ARE THE WORST. Management doesn't care about their employees (they keep quitting) nor do they care about customers (you) because they expect you to sit and wait over an hour to be screened. That is time wasted before you even begin donating plasma. I've been coming here since August of 2016 and the problem started March of 2019. Three months and management has FAILED to fix the problems. They're probably too busy playing solitaire in the back room or screaming at their employees. This is the third plasma location I have donated at and it is by far the worst! My wait is anywhere between 30-60 minutes because they are understaffed and not efficient. Most other places it's 10-15 minutes during busy hours. I do not know how long they have been open, but their operations make it seem maybe a month or two. I came here because it is close to my house but I would recommend driving a little further to a different location. read more

So I started this about few months ago now and this is the only location I've been to. And I've had nothing but great experiences here. All the staff is super friendly. Even if they're having a bad day outside of work they are very good to their clients. This place is always packed but they are very fast and efficient. I defiantly recommend the sandy location. This plasma donation facility is very clean. Everyone was friendly and professional. First time in took about 2.5 hours due to having to have a physical before the initial donation. After that will be faster. I did go in at slower time of day at 12:30pm on a Monday. Asked when it gets busy and was told after 4pm, but was also told they do very well with handling the increased workload. The actual donation time went by quickly. They have big screen tvs playing movies as well as free wifi so you can take in your own devices to browse on if you want. You do have to stay awake so naps are out of the question. Compensation is $50 for the first 4 visits then it goes to $25 for first visit within 7 day period and $45 for second visit within 7 day period. It looked like they run promos possibly monthly so there is opportunity to make more money. You can only go twice within that 7 day period with at least one day in between visits. The 7 day period resets on Sunday. Payment is given on a prepaid credit/debit card. I was dreading going in for the first time because of how long it takes, but it really did go by quickly and the actual donation part was painless. I did get kind of cold when they ran the saline through my veins at the end so I would suggest taking something warm to put on. Won't tell you over the phone if type 1 diabetes disqualifies you to donate. They want me to come in with my DL and social security card and put all my info into their system before they tell me NO. Like I want to waste my time and have them upload my private info on their server that could get hacked and then not even be able to donate. What a way to treat people. read more

I have been donating plasma at various Biomat locations for quite awhile now, and Sandy is hands down the best I've been to. I always get screened quickly and on a bed in no time. They were very rude! I have diabetes, looked on the website and searched(SEARCHED) for information about donating. Saw that you could donate if under control and a constant a1c(basically constant sugar level). Got there and got told "you can't". When I inquired as to why it wasn't listed I got told they didn't do that because people would lie to donate. No explaination of why I can't donate and no manners. Been coming here for about a year now and Its usually an overall good experience. I've always been able to get the appointment slots I want and usually doesn't take long from start to finish. They have fun incentives from time to time. I would like them to wear an actual name tag. You can't always make out what there hand written name says on there face shield. I like that I can request certain people to "stick me", like Bill and if you don't like they way someone does it you can ask not to get that person. There's also free wifi and an area for you to leave your child to be watched over while you donate. read more

I have donated before, at a different facility back in 2007, but the Sandy facility is much better. Because I was considered a first time donor, I had to go through the whole screening process, which includes a physical. It went much faster than I thought it would. 2 hours from start to finish. I like that you can make appointments online now. And the Sandy facility pays pretty well. Plus they have raffles and referral bonuses. The place is really clean and the staff is very friendly. The fact that it's close to where I live is also a plus. Make ls it easier to donate on a regular basis. read more

My experience with Grifols, based on the Rexburg, Idaho center, was not necessarily bad, BUT, be aware that they may take a blood sample, run a test that claims you have a hepatitis virus, and then, even though the test results are proven to be erroneous, you are BANNED FOR LIFE from the center. I have been donating here for about a year. The staff is nice for the most part, and I've had some good experiences, but lately it's been quite frustrating and I won't be going back. The online appointment system is good in theory, but the site hasn't been working to make new appointments for some time now, so it's difficult to schedule an appointment. Today I came in with an appointment that I scheduled online. At this appointment I was due for my yearly physical and I had scheduled it as such. They had no record of my appointment and told me they'd get me in if they could. I heard other donors complaining about having similar problems. Luckily someone else didn't show up, so I could take their spot. The person I encountered first had me fill out a bunch of paperwork, and when I brought the finished paperwork back to the desk, there was a different person there who told me I actually didn't need to fill out any of that paperwork, and promptly threw it all away. We proceeded with the rest of my screening and physical, which included a finger stick, vital signs, giving a urine sample, and a long interview with probably close to a hundred detailed questions and the interviewer reading me a 5-6 page document word for word. It was a very lengthy screening and near the end they asked me if I had been in a research study in the past year. I told them yes, I had been in an exercise study 5 months ago where I had ridden a stationary bike for six sessions. I was told I would have to produce the entire informed consent and IRB documents from the study on the spot or I could not donate that day. I had no idea or warning before coming in that something like this would ever be needed or relevant, and the study involved no medications, vaccines, or anything that would have affected my plasma donation in any way. I have been donating twice a week since being in the study with no problems. In addition, I was told that if I wanted to come back and donate on a later day, I would have to bring the documents and I would be required to undergo the entire process I had just gone through, all over again. To me this was an outrageous and unreasonable request. There is no way I would have been able to comply with this without prior notice, not to mention it was a complete waste of over an hour of my time. And then to be told I would have to repeat all of it the next time was ridiculous. The interviewer admitted that this was an oversight that the plasma company needs to work to fix, but it is unacceptable to me to demand documents which no one could reasonably be expected to have on their person without being told beforehand, and then to punish the donor for not having said documents by deferring them and then forcing them to undergo extensive screening again. It is not worth the $25, and I will not be going back. read more
