This place is pretty nice. Clean facility, courteous and pleasant staff who know what theyre doing. Thorough examination and pre-screen procedure. Pay is $60 your first 2 'donations' (I have a hard time calling it donating, since youre getting paid) and then $25 each time after. I was able to save up almost half of the money I needed for a $450 car repair, just by giving plasma here!!! Average wait time to get seated for your donation is 25 or 30 min. I highly recommend coming in between 10:00am and 1:00pm for best, fastest response time. HEADS UP: No longer making appointments. First come, first served. Why only 4 stars? I tend to agree with the other review that they could have more staff involved in the actual plasma collection. Thats the only strike against them. read more

10/10 customers service. This was my first time here and first time donating blood. I came around 1:30 and did not wait at all. The registration, physical exam,screening etc. took an hour and a half and had two amazing people work with me and go through the step by step process. I donated twice and then got hit with false positive hiv results a week later . they're confirmation testing twice showed negative and I never did anything to put myself at risk..... BUT . even with proven negative they will not take you off the deferral list and consider you hiv positive forever due to their own testing malfeasance. read more

I recently decided to try to be a blood and plasma donor and called this agency to ask some questions concerning the process. I had to call several times and select prompt "2" as instructed to speak to the Admin over the course of several days before I was able to get a live body to answer my questions. I was finally able to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately the morning of my appointment (Friday) I had to cancel my appointment to take my husband to the ER. I called at least 20 times from 7:30 - 11 and their was no answer. This caused me alot of stress during an already stressful situation. I am a retired Vet and know the importance of having people donate blood. But if this is the way donors are being treated, I understand why people may be hesitant to donate at this center. I had to call management to cancel my appointment. Not a very good first impression. read more

I cannot *stand* the stumpy little witch on a power trip behind the counter. She is cold, emotionless, unprofessional and has a terrible attitude. Hate having to even talk to her. Total Napoleon Complex. No control over her own life so she take great delight in trying to control other people's lives. She has done my intake twice and both times she says my numbers are too low...sooooooryyyyyyy. She is the ONLY one to decide my numbers are low of the half dozen people who have done my intake over 15 times. Coincidence? No. She's mean-spirited and loves to be as big of a see you next Tuesday as possible while smiling. Hate. Her. and her whole vibe. She needs to be knocked down a peg or three. read more

I am a female firefighter and am part of an ongoing study on the risk of cancer in female firefighters. This study requires me to provide a blood and urine sample every other year and to fill out a lifestyle questionnaire annually. This study does not include any treatments for anything, experimental or otherwise. Today, I had the opportunity to donate plasma at Biomat USA in Frederick. The process for first time donation is extremely slow and I had waited over 2 hours before the physical that is required prior to donation. As part of the intake, I answered that yes I am in a medical study. Upon request I provided them with all the information I had, including the consent waiver, all the emails I had received, and as much information about the study as I could find. The employee doing my intake was unsure if donating a small amount of urine and blood every other year was permitted when it comes to helping save lives by donating plasma. Her coworker informed her that it was permitted. She contacted the medical doctor who said it was permitted as long as I could provide the informed consent form. I had already provided the waiver but the employee decided the waiver did not have enough information. Specifically the waiver did not specify that I could donate plasma (nor did it say I could go surfing, eat pizza, or take naps.) After wasting over 2 hours of my time, this employee decided the UA Study Waiver, the only signed paperwork I have received from the study was not enough to satisfy her and I was informed that I am not permitted to donate plasma there. It is unfortunate that this employee has decided my donation of a small amount of urine and blood every 2 years disqualifies me from helping save lives by donating plasma. read more

l called in today about donating for first time, I was told no appointment was necessary. After completing housework, I drove across town. When I arrived mid afternoon, I was told they had no times available.. they where short on staff. I would have been grateful for knowing that during the info call earlier. With the price of gas it makes one apprehensive to drive a second time. I am Rh- and have covid antibodies, that constitutes "specialty blood" but no time for me. Maybe I will try again, maybe not. My time is valuable, so is my plasma. read more

I am waiting now for over an hour after my scheduled appointment to be seen. Up until a month ago, wait time was about 10 minutes. And!!!! I'm still waiting! So damn frustrating. I asked the staff why does it now take so long? They just laid off a lot off people. Over 250 donations, I've never seen this place so FUBAR. read more

I encourage you to donate your plasma to help those that need it to live and depend on donors but the best part is they pay you for your services unlike other places like Red Cross. So if your donating somewhere else, please make an appointment or call Biomat to check out the details. Today was my first "donation" at this facility. Everyone I encountered today were just awesome. They were very thorough with the process and explanations. I called in before hand to make sure whether or not an appointment is needed for first timers. I just went to the location around 9 am, completed paperworks and the whole process , including donation tool little less than 3 hours. They have decent compensation as well as monthly bonuses. You'll get opportunity to make around $360 ish a month depending on types of promotion for that month. I'll be going back for my second donation. read more

Been donating for 6 years plus and do 100 donations each year. I'm an anti D and now this place has gone to hell. Wifi is horible, getting paid much less while regular donors are getting paid more. What used to a a reasonable 20 minute wait is now an hour. New staff isnt that great at the needle stick and many good staff are gone. It's a shame. I've been lost $160 a month now while everyone else gets $160 a month more. They dont care about serious donors who do this every possible donation reliable. read more

I'm updating my review from 1 to 2. The managers are still there but thankfully not seen as often and their GM is very nice. Their systems, organized policy and practices need work. They are constantly changing the way things are done in an effort to improve. Which I commend but I've been donating here for 5 years and I just wish the same systems that keep failing could figure it out. For example the appointment process. First it's walk in, then it's make an appointment online, then it's walk-in but after 5 you need an appointment but you can't make it online and you can't call. You have to be there to make an appointment. Then it's make an appointment online again. Well I was differed twice in a week because of low iron. While trying to reschedule for the next day the system works not allow me to because it didn't know I didn't donate and you can only schedule two a week within a 7 day period. While I called to make an appointment they said they couldn't and I had to make it online. They said the appointment system would reset at midnight to allow me to reschedule. It didn't do I couldn't. Donating is cool cuz you're helping people live better, healthier lives. However, it's not an smooth process. read more

So every time there is a special or a coupon, they have one girl that has just happened to find something wrong. Three times in a row when this young lady does my intake there just happens to be a problem. Yet when I go back the less than 24 hours later and someone else does the intake, there is absolutely no problem. Discouraging people to not be able to take part in any of the specials for extra money seems to be the policy. The employees are nice but this policy sucks and you can't depend on being told the truth. read more

Staff is super nice your first visit but go long enough and with the extreme volume of turnover and untrained replacements that are rude and unqualified, then you get to see the truth about this place. Also with the lab they use and the constant mistakes, false positives, and being nit-picked to death like you can only go out the door on the far right or no hat or no hoodie..... If I could give them no stars I would. Being told that you can't donate blood because you're gay is a pretty horrible thing to hear in 2016. Not to mention the woman who told me and my fiancé we couldn't donate was smiling at us like it was funny or a joke- while assuming we have had sex before. It's funny cause we both were tested in June yet I can almost bet more than half the people there do not get tested and screw anything that moves but it's okay because they're straight. I know this isn't an issue specifically for this place but the way we were told was brushed off and smiled at like it wasn't serious and a big deal. read more

Tired of having to call to get money sorted out. Like they simply seem to be unable to do their jobs and give you money you are entitled to. They recently changed the card on which you get money and the new one is riddled with fees. Compensations continue to decrease. Bonus incentives are becoming harder to get as they increase requirements to get them e.g. donating 8-10 times in a month. I have complained to corporate before, They had a manager here call me just to argue with me and say it's a business and they have to keep costs down. But then in next sentence tell me they are doing better than ever and enrollment is up. I'm on here cause they won't even let you rate them on Facebook. I need this money so i don't have a choice really. If you do as well I'm sorry. But this will not likely be a positive experience for you. Prepare for empty placations and to be treated like a child. For example if you want to donate the last 2 1/2 hours they are open you must make an appointment. They will not let you do this by phone. You must physically go there and make one. The reason i was given was people don't show up for appointments. Also expect your first donation to take 2-4 hours as you will have to get an appointment for screening and physical. Severely disappointed with this company. But kinda locked in as I'm in a program here and as i said cannot forgo the money i do get. But today they messed up on a $20 bonus i was supposed to get and I'm unsure if I'll be able to get it. I've been berated by others saying they donate as a charity. But this isn't a non profit. The U.S. provides 80% of the worlds plasma. Outside the states you can only donate twice a month. Here it's twice a week. Make no mistake, these people make a lot of money off of you. And they'll tell you they appreciate what you're doing. Just don't expect them to show it. And Any bonuses be prepared to jump through some hoops for. And unless you are rh- like i am and can get into the anti d program your base compensation will be fairly insulting. read more

Since the change in ownership, they cannot seem to get their act together. Half of the old information was never transferred over. Release forms don't get entered in a timely manner and they make you resign them. There is ALWAYS a long wait even if there isn't anyone there. I will not be back. read more

When I called to complain to the center, I was told I was permanently barred from donating and they refused to give me an email address where I could send the pictures of my infected arm. I'm sure they're a great place to donate, but I'll never know. Showed up for my first visit at 12:30 on a weekday and waited over an hour before being told they were now too full and couldn't get my initial exam done that day. Would've been nice to know that sooner... They said they'd schedule me an appointment to come back even though they NEVER do that, so I made one for two days later. Showed up at that appointment and was told I was actually supposed to be there half an hour BEFORE my appointment time (no one told me that) and if I wanted to wait an hour, maybe they could get me in then. I gave up and left. I know plasma is used for life-saving medicines, but it's also big business for the ones selling it. They make a lot of money on our plasma, I think they could afford to hire a few more staff members! If they are so overflowing with new people that I have to sit around for hours for the privilege of donating, I guess I'll pass. read more
