I've been to 4-5 different plasma centers, both Biolife and other brands in Florida and other states, and this Biolife center in Lakeland is easily the most well-run location of any I have been to. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone (mostly) here is so kind and pleasant. I know it's not always super enjoyable taking vitals or being a phlebotomist, but the workers here are so enjoyable and really make the experience much better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tiffany, Darrell, Olivia, Madison, Jay, Naheeda, Daylin, Kevin, Ryan, Jose, Danielle, Alyssa are all just awesome. And my girl Jessica, it's always a pleasure seeing any of them and getting to chat. They do a really great job here of getting people in and out even if it's slammed busy. Except maybe once in awhile if they're understaffed, the longest I'm there is 90 minutes. I've been to plasma centers where the expectation that it'd take at least 2 hours every time no matter the time of day, and 90 minutes was a quick day. But here, there are plenty of days where I'm in and out in an hour or less (of course, it helps to be hydrated so the actual donation goes faster). Efficiency is something they have down here. I'm super impressed. Not only do you get paid, but you're helping save lives by donating plasma. It's a win-win, and Biolife Lakeland gets an A+. read more

Great way to give back! Today I woke up early after working a late night to go donate plasma. I didn't do it for the money I did it because plasma is in high demand. I cleared all screenings except for one, I have a sensitivity to the smell of lavender. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The nurse, Daisy, ask me if I was alerted to contact with the flower.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I replied no it's only if the smell is very strong of lavender I could get a headache. Because of this I was permanently deferred. Worst case scenario someone wears lavender heavy cologne or perfume and I have to take a couple ibuprofen. Best case scenario nothing happens. This is a ridiculous policy, because if anything could cause a respiratory or allergic reaction due to cologne, body spray, perfume then the company should say it is not allowed. Instead even though they are desperate for plasma I was rejected because lavender can give me a little head boo boo. This is nothing more than I fu****g joke! Did they ask about alcohol, no. Did they ask about drug use, no. Did they ask for anything that would truly make my blood toxic, no. This place should be shut down! A medical disgrace! read more

Saw the promo online after i was watching a youtube video of a guy that sells plasma n gets paid to let people use him for trials. Cuz i need that type of money while i wait for someone to decided to hire me. A las it takes 8 visits to get the 650 whole. The good news is that they pay you in chunks. Instead of waiting for the lump sum. I can understand why this place has low reviews but it wast as rough as other people stated. It is a long process if you are new donor n it looks like way longer if u keep coming back. Theres two lines, i came 1.5 hours earlier thinking i needed to fill paperwork. Nope, they bump me up cuz someone didn't show, the first young miss took me it for picture n recruitment file, second one took my quick vitals. Found out i shrunken 3 inches!! Or their scale is wacked. Eh no biggie. Then i went to the computer to get asked the exact same question over n over again in different ways. Took me 30-45 mins to complete cuz the questions are a bit cray cray. Then i moved to the Medical Madam, that took too long cuz we started chatting each other up lol but she did her obligations fine. She gave me snacks and a pediasure! Yum Listen to my heart, hear my lungs, answer stuff etc. when i got to the plasma machines? The nurses had a hard time getting my veins to cooperate. The second madam also but i still got paid for showing up. So win win lol i will try again later this week. I really want the rest of that $650. They gave me a debit card where i got my money already sent. App looks neat. I recommend you bring a hoodie for the plasma area. Its cold there, eat big meals 1-2 hours before coming. These plasma centers are making about 5000$ per 1000 mL of your plasma. They pay you an average of 50$. For someone to go through this process with wait times usually around 2 hrs. I don't know how anyone would donate at any center. I talked to someone who works at one of these places and was floored when I found out how much these centers make. I bet the CEOs are making a fortune. If they're overhead is so high that they cannot afford to pay more, I would hope that anyone who reads this review will NOT take their time to go through the process. They always tell you your saving lives giving up your plasma , something they cannot artificially create but want to pay you sooo little is absolutely pathetic. This location runs like a well oiled machine. They know exactly what they're doing. CSL Plasma doesn't even come close. The equipment is new, state of the art and the place is immaculate. As a Covid-19 surivivor, I have the antibody and I'm able to donate twice a week. They also offer a financial incentive. I received $200 today and will receive a other $200 upon my second donation. When you first sign up, they treat you like royalty. More specifically, on your physical plus the first two donations. After that, you become a "regular" and have to wait well over an hour in line to donate. Typically they are great at giving the IV's and I never had any issues... Until my last donation. There is one phlebotomist there that has half of her hair shaved and piercings/ear gauges that caused me problems. Several hours before my last donation, I had eaten French fries and didn't think that it would affect my donation, but about 3/4 of the way through my donation, my machine started going off indicating that there was too much fat in my blood. I understand that this was my fault and the facility can't do anything about it, however, when I got up from my table, I accidentally knocked a broom over and I'm assuming the phlebotomist (mentioned above) thought I got an attitude about it so she apparently reported me to her manager and locked it to where I couldn't make donations anymore because I "became violent" or something along those lines... it didn't make any sense to me at all. I just know at the start of my donation, she was really smart mouthed with me from the beginning. This was weird behavior coming from her because before I had never had a problem. Maybe she just had a bad day, but reporting me for being hostile because you're having a bad day is totally uncalled for!!! I was able to explain to the front desk what had happened, and they unlocked me again so I could donate more, but I just donated one more time and never went back. It's not worth it. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The receptionist is always personable and Tiffany, one of the nurses, is very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]HOWEVER, they don't tell you on their website EVERYTHING you need in order to donate, so I went 2 times (hour drive from home) and was turned away for stupid rules they have that you don't know about before you go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The second time, the nurse was very unfriendly and told me that because I live in a mobile home park I couldn't donate....it's NOT a permanent residence!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ok, so this was my 2nd wasted morning - gas and time spent. Her reason that they don't list everything on their website is that people LIE! Yep, that's what she said! [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I got home, I sent a message to mgmt and when he called I just go more of the same malarkey about their stupid rules and why they don't tell you everything you need to know before going.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told him I should at least be paid the $40 they offered for coming back after I was turned away at the 1st wasted morning, and he said he didn't have any way to pay me....Well, Mr. manager, how about reaching in your pocket and pulling out $40 for me since you can't be accommodating for us peons who donate our plasma for you!! Then he mentioned when I come back and actually donate....UM NO! I said "come back, a 3rd time, and find some other stupid thing you don't inform people about and waste more of my gas and time???????" Won't be happening! There is a like wrapped throughout the building and there is only one person doing the blood check. i don't understand why they don't care about people's time. my appointment was at 2:05 and it's 3:01. the donation itself takes long enough and we have to stand in line for an hour before that. it's just so unprofessional. other than that they're clean and nice. read more

I have been coming to this biolife location for a little over 1 year now, and I'd say 3/5 of my visits have been great top to bottom. However, I recently sprained my ankle and have been walking with a medical boot. My first visit after this injury, I had completed my questionnaire and started walking toward the line where you wait to check in, only to be glared at by an older, white, blonde technician (apologies if that's not the correct title) who stared at me for a good 10 solid seconds until I was within a few feet of her, directing me to not get in line but to see one of the nurses in their offices. The way she stared me down made me very uncomfortable. I saw the nurse as directed, was told that they had to document my injury before I could donate, no big deal. I finished up with the nurse, waited in line to get checked in, and who else do I get but the blonde lady who glared at me from earlier. She said that I had to be weighed separately from my medical boot, and that I had to take it off so it could be weighed separately. As a logical person I had a serious problem with this. You've already weirded me out with your stares, and prolonged my visit by making me see the nurse who a-okayed everything anyhow, but now you're telling me you need to weigh my boot on it's own, which is not a living thing and has no effect on the plasma you are to collect from me? Pound sand lady. You can weigh me without the boot, I'm with you 100% on that, but you have no need whatsoever to weigh my boot. At this point I'm really starting to feel like this woman just has something against me, or maybe all people who have medical devices assisting them in walking. Turned out my iron was too low to donate anyhow, so I left that day. I returned about 1 week later, did my questionnaire, got in line, checked in, and everything was going fine. Then the tech whi checked me in came to pull me from the line and said I had to see the nurse, AGAIN. I explained to her that I'd already seen the nurse last time and that my injury was documented, and I havent sustained any new injuries, she said "It wasnt showing up in their system." This frustrated me greatly, as the lines that day were very long. I complied, saw the nurse, as they signed off approving me, once again. On my way out of her office, I asked if I am all set now, as in i dont need to see the nurse about my sprained ankle anymore, to which I was advised that I would need to see the nurse EVERY SINGLE TIME I donate as long as I'm wearing a boot. In summation: if you've got crutches, or a cast, or a boot, dont waste your time with this place. Its not worth the $20. read more

You basically have to stand in lines of over 20 people to get the initial test.... they only have two people to help a line of over 20 donators. Absolutely ridiculous, there's no point in scheduling an appointment bc apparently they have no restrictions on the amount of people they take per each available time. Sometimes this center is super quick and easy but I've had numerous inconvenient appointments. I had an appointment for 8:10am and I did not leave until 9:45am. Getting a needle stuck in your arm is inconvenient enough but to have to stand, waiting in line for 35 minutes is ridiculous. If I could give this plasma location a 0, I most definitely would. Appointments are absolutely useless. They give you a pager and make you go back to your car. If people are coming here for money, why make them go waste gas in their car to stay cool. This place made me go there twice (an hour there each time) and they turned me away each time.  First time I went I was told that I couldn't donate plasma because I had donated blood and you have to wait.  They checked me over and told me that there should be no issue with me donating and to come back when the time was right.  I went back and was told that I couldn't donate because of my veins.  I went to another plasma center and have been able to donate with NO issues.   If they tell you you cannot donate it would behoove you to check another donation center (their competition) before decide against donating all together. read more

I have donated at Ocoee for about 2 years but this location in LAKELAND is MESS 0 stars worth always short staffed loke they're never staffed to handle the amount of people that come in and i wonder why? Maybe they dint pay people right? But this people have 50+ people waiting daily and 40 beds open but they take the sweet time sitting donors for donation. They have half of the building without beds when they can use that space to handle the amount of people that come in. 0/10 at this location always a 2 hr long wait and always short staffed. They have no help, & they are still continuing to take people when they can't keep up with the people now. This place is slow slow slow, this isn't my first plasma donation, Iv done it at way more busy locations & they have you moving in & out with your scheduled appointment like they should do. People walk around like they are miserable & don't want to work here, not sure about them but I'm sure the people there are over worked or they haven't worked a day in their life. It's one of the two. No TV. wifi sucks. It's literally hell to come here. If you have no plans for the day & can wait all day long for $20 and to just be sat in a chair & the another 45min to an hour to just get poked, then this is the place to be. The wait was long (I was there from about 12:20 to 2:50), but that was to be expected because it was my first visit. The staff was kind and helpful, with the exception of one woman who was a bit rude. They try to move you through the process as efficiently as possible and make sure you know what you need to do. The staff seem well trained and organized. I will definitely return again. It is important to know that this center is by appointment only, which speeds up processing time, but isn't really stated anywhere where it is easy for prospective donors to find. read more

I like the cause of being able to donate plasma and actually get paid for it, but this place couldn't be more inconvenient. The website doesn't work, the app doesn't work. Walked in on time for my appointment which also required a physical. Now I hadn't been to the new facility ever since the moved from the old location so I do not know how it worked inside. I stood at reception for a few moments waiting to be acknowledged, all the while looking around the new place, witnessing the long line of people waiting to log into a handful computers. Finally the older gentleman behind the desk looked at me, with a look of attitude. I explained I hadn't done this for sometime so I had an appointment. He said "You actually DO have an appointment?" I said yes. He asked for my name and appointment time. Apparently the system still had my maiden name and old address. The man then asked if I "got married or something happened". I made a face at that statement and replied yes I got married. To my disbelief he asked for a copy of my marriage license....I'm thinking you have to be kidding. I stated that this is public record and can be looked up on his computer. Still eyeing me with great attitude and frankly disregard to the statement I just made he then stated that he "can't" change it and I should go get my marriage license first. I just laughed and walked out thinking that if the local government can look up and accept the public record copy but not a plasma donation place that is a bit ridiculous.
