Luckily, it was a pretty gloomy day, so I didn't feel too bad about spending a whole Sunday there. Our instructor was a lovely and helpful woman and she did her best to make the most out of a long, mostly lecture-driven class. She said it was her first time teaching at this location. We also got thirty minutes for lunch, which pretty much flew by. There were seven people total in our class; the small size helped ensure that the instructor gave each person individual attention and feedback. The hands-on portion of the course was the most interesting part. We performed CPR and AED on both adult and infant mannequins. We also practiced bandaging each other up. At the end, we took a few multiple choice tests (which we could retake if we failed, though everyone passed on the first try), received our certification cards, and walked out of there ready to take on the world! At least for two years, at which point we'll need recertification.

As much as your organization advertises about blood shortage it was very dicouraging. I have O negative blood which is in short supply. I have given blood regularly since I was 17. I an now 70. I am goig to post here since they keep deleting my Google review…read more I was a new donor there, only was able to donate twice. They took a sample of my blood then days later all of a sudden, I was told by Ms Laura Harris that I tested positive for Hepatitis B and I got permanently deferred. I'm like wait a minute hold on, I get tested regularly and have never been told I have had Hep B before in my life... so I knew something was wrong with these results. I then went to a STD testing site that SAME DAY and 3 business days later my results came back from them that I tested negative for Hep B and of course everything else. So of course I called and emailed Laura back and she ignored all of my emails and calls until she finally answered the phone. I was met with a nonchalant response, not sympathetic or anything when I told her that the false positive results that she was so happy to tell me was indeed that, FALSE results. She was given proof via email and still didn't get a response. Why so people take such joy in giving you bad news but when you tell them that they made a mistake and were wrong they all of a sudden go ghost. She was very unprofessional and need further training or find something else to do. She still hasn't helped with this matter and now I have to make this a legal matter. Somebody in this facility f*cked up bad and got my blood test tube mixed up with an infected person and now y'all have a Hep B positive person still in there donating and yall dont even know who it is because yall made a mistake. Telling people that they have something causes distress and anxiety and the way Ms Harris handled it was very unprofessional. BEWARE DO NOT GO TO THIS FACILITY BECAUSE THEY WILL MESS UP YOUR RESULTS AND YOU WILL GET DEFERRED FOR NO REASON!

I have several issues with my back and I've always found acupuncture to help ease the chronic aches and pains that come with my problem. I've been coming here for almost a year now and I can't believe I have not reviewed them until this point. I am a weekly patient of Paul, who I liked and trusted from the very first day I entered the center. Back on that first visit, Paul took the time to sit with me beforehand so he can learn a little bit about myself, my wellness routines, and my back issues. He took great time and care during our consultation and the acupuncture session, and I felt valued as a client/patient. In the nine or so months that I've been going to Six Fishes, I've come to look forward to Friday mornings, where the genuine care and warm atmosphere make me feel at home, not to mention the relief I get. Throughout this time, Paul has never wavered in the quality and attention of the care he gives to me and I could not be more appreciative. I'd also like to give kudos to the administrative staff, Lorraine, and Amanda, who are always super friendly and equally caring as the rest of the staff. If you find acupuncture a helpful treatment for whatever ails you, I highly recommend Six Fishes!

Six Fishes was my first experience with acupuncture and cupping and I am so excited to return! The…read morestaff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the space is very clean. I recently injured my shoulder and it has been painful. I tried to get in with a Physical Therapist but the wait combined with the need for me to get a prescription from my PCP or another doctor led me to consider other options. I remembered a yoga instructor of mine suggested I try acupuncture for lower back pain that I have had for a few years, resulting from a mild sprain. I decided to look into Six Fishes, went to their website and booked a phone call for the same day to discuss what I was going through and to determine if acupuncture could help me. After learning that it could, I made an appointment for a virtual intake appointment and an in person appointment the next day. This process had already proven easier than trying to get in with the PTs in my area. I filled out an online intake form, and submit my insurance information all through their website. The process was very easy and took 10-15 minutes overall. When I had my virtual intake appointment, I discussed my pain a bit more in depth and my practitioner Julie asked a few additional questions. Julie also answered my questions and ensured that I was feeling comfortable going into the appointment. When I arrived for my appointment the next day, I felt prepared and excited! The staff was very helpful and explained that because my insurance did not cover acupuncture, I'd be placed in a "semi-private" space because it was less expensive. That was fine with me! The space was very comfortable and had curtain dividers between the other semi-private spaces. I do not believe anyone else was there at the same time, but if they were, I could not hear them! Julie walked me through the process and then began inserting the needles. I am not a huge fan of needles (is anyone?) but did not mind the insertion process at all. I noticed some soreness and a feeling of more pressure surrounding the needles that were placed on my shoulder and neck area. Julie explained that this was normal and related to my reason for coming in - the preexisting pain from my injury. Julie placed a heating lamp over my lower back, which was lovely, and handed me a small remote that had a bell. I laid face down for 40 minutes total, and was instructed to use the remote to ring for Julie if I needed anything at all. The first 20 minutes I was a bit more anxious, wondering when I'd be halfway through. After Julie came to check-in at the halfway mark, I felt extremely relaxed and almost sleepy! The last 20 minutes flew by. After the acupuncture, Julie suggested I try cupping, so I did! The cups were tight on my back, but very tolerable. Julie also put a menthol cbd oil on my back before the cups and the tingling from this was really soothing. Julie explained that I'd feel tingling and that after the cupping, I'd have some marks on my back for about a week. I really appreciated being fully informed about everything before agreeing to go forward with the procedures. The combined total of my two appointments was very affordable, and my next visit will cost even less. I am very excited to return and feel the long term benefits of these practices!

I have the utmost respect for everyone in the health care profession, especially angelic (for the most part!) nurses! The American Red Cross usually has the most amazing nurses working for them. Last night, at my donation in Somerdale, NJ, was no exception. A sweet older man, named Frank, not only did my check in, but also my donation. He was friendly, positive, and gave a great stick. We had a nice conversation as well. Frank even told me to help myself to the snacks in the cantina since they would just be sitting there when they left. So I did, and my son was thrilled w/ the Ritz and mini Oreos! Every now and then you'll get some free "swag," which is nice, but I can care less. I've been donating off and on since I was 16. I feel it's my part, helps my community, and my great type of blood mixes with all other types. Yeah, that's me ;) If you've never thought about donating, please look into it.
