Everything was top notch. I am not into sweets, normally, but they do sweet treats and sweet drinks well here.

We were quoted a 10-15 minute wait despite there being multiple open tables everywhere, which already set the tone. The person at the front also seemed like greeting guests was a personal inconvenience. Not exactly the warm welcome you'd expect from a place trying this hard to look aesthetic. To make things worse, several pastries sitting in the front display were visibly burnt. Not "artisan charred" -- just burnt. The pastries we ordered were actually good, which makes the rest of the menu even more disappointing. We tried the soft scramble, pork cheek tartine, truffle tartine, and mushroom fettuccine. Everything looked beautiful but tasted either burnt, bland, or both. Every toast item arrived burnt enough that you could taste it in every bite. Our server came by often to refill waters and check on us, but the service somehow still felt oddly impersonal. Since the restaurant wasn't busy at all, it also made us wonder how attentive the service would be during an actual rush. Honestly, this place feels more focused on looking trendy than serving good food. Stick to the pastries if you go -- it's the only thing worth ordering.

Flash forward to today when I break open the box to dish out the cake. It's not the cake. It's an olive oil cake, which is fine if you like it, my mother does not. Was Mother's Day ruined, no. But paying 50.00 dollars and driving to order the cake, then days later driving to pick up the cake, only for them to give me a cake you can literally get everyday is just wrong. So very saddened by this.

One thing I found interesting is that you can choose between getting your dessert fresh or frozen. The fresh version has more of a mousse-like texture, while the frozen version is more like ice cream. We tried the fresh version this time, and it was still good, but I'd like to try it frozen next time to see how the texture compares. I'd also love to try the OG Banana flavor on my next visit since it's their most popular option. Overall, we had a good experience at Parfe Diem and would definitely come back to try more flavors and explore the rest of the menu! Food: 8.5/10

So I wasn't sure how this would be. Every steak was so tender and perfectly seasoned. The shaved brussels sprout was delicious and the avocado was perfect. They were kind enough to change the cheese. I'm still thinking about that salad and beef. The French toast was so good. It was early, and it was already busy. TIPs & TRICKs Follow the rules: Get the tray, then the wax paper liner, then use the individual wax papers at the stations to grab what you want. While you're doing that, pay attention to the pricing, because it can add it. To see the plain butter croissants empty already was shocking, but when we told the employee she came back to not only stock it but came to us first and let us pick which ones we wanted off the tray That was very nice The pain du chocolat looked good and were lacking in depth and flakiness of the crunch The Chausson aux Pommes - was really good - They could have used another minute or two in the oven to get that golden brown. They were looking like the pastly white guy at the beach while everyone else had a tan The mochi Dubai Chocolate donut was very good. The total was almost fifty bucks.... I told my wife that we could have about 40 croissants for that price if we were in Paris. C'est la vie! Look for a chain - Its pretty good. So of course my wife and I were looking to soak our sorrows in some home-baked pie. So parking was pretty easy around the corner along the street. The pie shop is this long kitchen attached to a super cool thrift shop. That was closed since it was like 8:45pm. We decided to go with the strawberry rhubarb, key lime and apple cobbler. They're essentially little hand pies, like the size of a pop tart. So getting three seems good for two people if you like pie a lot, like we do. We also added two cups of ice cream to go. The girl helping us was nice and engaged conversation when we asked about the thrift shop. Solid service. Once we go home, we heated up the strawberry rhubarb and apple cobbler for one minute. That wasn't long enough so I'd do 1:35 next time. That would ensure the ice cream would melt a bit more. We started with the key lime pie; oh my ... it was epically delicious. This was as good as key lime pie we had in Captiva and The Keys in Florida. Then we dove into the other two. The strawberry rhubarb was 75% crust and 25% filling. I'd love to see more filling there. Compared to a grandma's strawberry rhubarb; it wasn't on par. It was a 3.75/5. Next up was the apple cobbler. A classic. It was pretty much what we expected and so was more on the 2/5 scale. We started so strong with the key lime pie that the bar was set high. Overall a good experience and the night ended on 3 empty cardboard containers filled with crust, melted vanilla ice cream and happy tears of our daughter's new journey.
