I actually made a special trip back to buy the almond coated almond croissant. I've never seen so many almonds atop of a croissant before. It was delicious, with a large amount of filling. Not quite the experience I expected. The Parisian-styled cafe was romantic and bustling. In the case, the delicate and buttery crust on the pastries caught our eyes. Ordering 1 blueberry danish, 2 french dip specials, and 1 latte, we spent nearly $50, a price we were comfortable paying if the food and experience were spectacular. However, this was not the case. The blueberry danish was quite good, though I have had better 7/10. On the other hand, the french dips threw us off completely. The salad had no dressing, the beef was extremely dry and springy, and the au jus was devoid of flavor. The best part was the baguette, but that was expected since the establishment is a bakery. My partner ordered a side of potatoes, rather than a salad, and they were extremely soggy, bland, and weirdly spreadable. Learn from our mistakes and do not order anything savory from here. We opted for the sit down to get the full experience of Eva's, and we went with a simple order of potatoes, French onion soup and the cookie butter latte. Potatoes were herbal and cooked to a soft texture. We were kind of expecting a hash, but I think this is style of this cuisine. Nonetheless, they were still yummy. French onion soup was delicious pairing with slices of bread. The controversy of bay leaf was found in our soup, and I am on the side that you can taste bay leaf (which I love). Cookie butter latte was amazing. It was not too sweet and overpowering but had its punch in flavor that makes it memorable. Would recommend ordering this drink. Came on a Monday at around 9:30 and did the bistro style dining (order at the counter and find a table, no table service aside from them bringing you your food). I think that's the move actually. There was a line of people ordering but it moved. Only one person handling the cash register while also grabbing the pastries for the people, so that slowed down the line. I got their almond croissant from their pastries and the quiche Lorraine and their beets avocado toast. The quiche Lorraine was not bad, it came with a choice of potatoes, salad, or both. It was cheesy but not overpowering. The beets avocado toast was definitely different. The beets gave it a more refreshing taste. Their bread was really good. The almond croissant was my least favorite... they warm up the pastries before giving it to you. It was flaky, but when biting into it, it was soft in the middle, but the edges were a bit hard, as if the edges hadn't baked completely. I went to the register to ask them if it's supposed to be like that, and the guy said yes, and that he's "had a lot of almond croissants" so he "would know". I found that a bit snarky and not sure if that was his intention. But he did give me the option of getting a refund or replacing the pastry for another one. I decided to try their chocolate almond croissant which was a bit better. I was excited to try their breads/pastries given they're supposed to be a boulangerie. The pastries were a let-down, but their bread seemed to be good. The outside of the shop has a nice blue wall painting, definitely standing out from the rest. The inside can be a bit hectic, especially by the pastries bar. Not sure if I'd visit again, but maybe just for a loaf of bread. read more

It was my first time visiting and I was really excited since I've heard about this coffee shop for a while. Unfortunately, I left pretty disappointed due to the customer service. I ordered two cappuccinos and asked if they could be served in mugs so I could take a cute photo. The barista seemed annoyed by the request, and the drinks were made carelessly, one was cold and had spilled over the side. When I asked which one was the oat milk cappuccino, the response felt unfriendly and dismissive. I also wasn't given a fork or plate for my dessert and at that point I honestly felt uncomfortable asking for anything else. Eva's was recommended to us by the hotel staff when we were looking for a delicious and unique breakfast spot. It's located on a busy downtown street along the trolley line, in a vintage building painted in blue and gold. There are café tables out front under shady trees, and inside you'll find an amazing counter of pastries and sandwiches, with additional seating in the back. Hint: Many people stand in line, order, and take their food and drinks to-go. If you want to sit in the restaurant, you can skip the line and wait by the dining area. A staff member will ask if you'd like a table and will seat you. We came on two consecutive mornings (because the first visit was so good). Over our two visits, we tried the Almond Chocolate Croissant, Vegetable Quiche, and Roasted Beef & Avocado Toast. Everything was excellent -- fresh, flavorful, generous portions, and beautifully presented. You can tell they make everything with care. They also offer all the usual coffee drinks, and my London Fog Tea Latte was very good. Service on both visits was professional, efficient, and patient. Even though it was always busy, we never felt rushed. The dining room was full but quiet enough to have a conversation. I would have loved to take more pastries to-go, but we were too full. Just make sure you select the right zone and space #. I believe Saturday and Sunday are free street parking, but of course, always check the signs. Me and my husband were looking for breakfast in SLC downtown on a Sunday morning and we could not find anything open except for a few bakeries. I ordered the stuffed French toast and my husband got the egg crossaint sandwich. My French toast was big! It came out warm it was lemon compot and blueberries purée drizzled on top. It was yum! This is a racist establishment. There's a sign that said wait here to be seated, I was standing there for five minutes and nobody seemed to see me until a Caucasian customer lined up behind me. Even still, I had to wave my hand to get attention to get a table. Luckily, I ordered a cappucino right from the start from the waitor who seated me. After a few minutes, the Caucasian waitress who pretend she didn't see me at first delivered my cappuccino. At this point, even though she saw the menu on my table, made no attempt to take my order so I had to tell her "I'm ready to order." She took my order reluctantly. I got my order at 1:06 pm, food taste fine but not amazing, please don't expect flakey buttery croissant. By 1:30pm, she dropped off the machine on my table and said "No rush, you can pay whenever you are ready." Then proceeded to put her hand on my plate and said, " Are you all done here?" I don't think that was a question, it was more of a command even though there was still plenty of food on my plate. In customer service, you don't say no rush if you intend to put a cheque/machine on your customer's table. You certainly don't ask if you are done with your food if you intend to take your customer's plate away. So after eating for approximately 25 minutes, I was not welcomed even though there were plenty of customers who are still sitting there who came before me. If you are not Caucasian, don't bother coming here. You are invisible to them and will not be welcomed by this establishment.
