The food options have changed and dwindled. The big department stores stay the same. TGIF Friday's is gone after many years. The one thing that seems to remain and allow parents some relaxation and the kids some fun is the play area. My son could spend hours here if I let him lol. He climbs, he walks, and he plays. There are comfy chairs and sofas to sit in. They have a charging station, and they have hand sanitizer!! The bathroom near the play area is family friendly and has a hard changing area. It would be nice if there was a lip there to ensure children didn't fall. The bathroom in the food courts is a whole different story. It is a FAMILY bathroom. There is no buckle on the changing table and the changing table tilts down. Perfect setting for a child to fall. The mall is light and vibrant in most spaces. It's a good place to just walk around and window shop. Mostly I miss all stores having dressing rooms.

Somehow, I'd missed the fact that they'd opened a storefront in SoBro directly off of East 54th Street in the storefronts next to and behind The Clubhouse. I was in the area today and decided to check out some new businesses. This area tends to have a lot of fluidity in terms of business - not always because of closures, but because businesses also just grow and move on. Every time I'm here, I seem to find something new. United State of Indiana has ramps at both doors - both ramps are really well built. The interior is easy to navigate and is filled with a wealth of shirts, stickers, mugs, posters, magnets and so much more. There's pop culture themes, Indiana and Indy specific themes, political statements, landmarks and a whole lot more. The employee working was super friendly and helpful. I could barely turn any corner without seeing something I wanted to buy for a friend. Truthfully, there's no doubt I'll be back because this stuff is so incredibly well done. I ended up taking home two magnets today - one for the Monon and one with the Indianapolis flag. They're already on my fridge. This is such a terrific shop. I happened to pick up a magnet that had an incorrect price (they recently had to do a bit of an increase - completely reasonable and I'd easily have paid it, but they insisted on honoring the price as it was their mistake). I also loved that they had a wide variety of sizes for t-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, etc. Because of how my body curves with spina bifida and also because of my ostomy, I tend to wear larger clothing. They have it here. Such a delight. United State of Indiana started as an online storefront. That storefront still exists, however, I'm definitely one who loves that in-person experience and I look forward to returning here in the near future. As another accessibility note, while you can park right off East 54th, there's an accessible spot behind The Clubhouse and next to the back entrance of the store. It's where I typically park as it gives the wheelchair lots of room.

And it is not your usual cheap made in China tourist stuff. No, this is quality work. Often made by local artists and or referring to local events, sights or attitude of Indiana and its inhabitants. I was able to get right in (it's a warehouse, plenty of room) and find what I was looking for. The owners were both available to answer questions about prices and delivery. The place was a bit in shambles and seeming a bit disorganized, which I would assume is because it's closing, but I didn't mind that too much. I was able to find what I needed very quickly, pay, and schedule delivery all within an hour and I don't think you can beat that efficiency. The owners aren't pushy, they encourage you to look around, and parking is plentiful! I would definitely check them out again!

They even carry an interesting assortment of gift cards. The clerk was super friendly and welcoming during my visit. Prices range from reasonable to high for quirky stuff you just can't find anywhere else. There is a parking lot behind the complex or metered street parking along Mass Ave.

Today was my first experience at The Girls in Grey, and I know I'll be back (even though for me it is a bit of a trip downtown). I got to watch first-hand as Rachel helped some amazing women pick out the perfect outfits for photos. She styled them and encouraged them. BIG FAN of this and her. I walked away with a green headband (because I have zero self-control and it was so so gorgeous). Rachel is also a photographer and collabs with the studio across the hall...love this! Can't wait to go back. Also...she does styling and will come to you. That's pretty amazing.
