Tucked away on Western Avenue, you'll find Bin 73. It's a great, cozy spot to catch up with friends, sip on wine, and enjoy some light bites. Long ago, I had a friend take me here to sample wine by trying their wine flights. I just like the intimacy of this place. It's a cute spot to take a friend or hang out with a date and you're not going to have to deal with it being super loud and crowded like some bars. However, I was a little disappointed with their happy hour. I called ahead the previous day to see if they offered happy hour specials and was told they had HH deals on beer, wine, mixed drinks and appetizers. But when I got there, I was told they just offered $2 domestics and half priced hummus and queso. I'm just mentioning this so people will know what to expect. There was a silver lining however, we scored a good deal on the food anyway because we happened to come on game day for OSU and they were giving away free burgers. I was told they would be doing that all season for both the OU and OSU games so that's something to keep in mind if that tickles your fancy. It's also something to keep in mind if you're looking for a chill atmosphere... On game days, it will be less chill and feel more sports bar-y. It was still laid back, but didn't feel quite as quaint. Well, that's my (almost) Fall 2018 Bin 73 update for you! Overall, I do think it's a gem. We attended the Argentinean and Chilean wine tasting. We have been to two other wine tastings there a few years back that were presented by a different group. I'll start by saying I like Bin 73. It's a fun bar and the food is tasty but last night was disappointing. The bartenders have always been excellent and last night was no different. We were shown to our seats right away. The atmosphere is fun. Great music and ambiance. We arrived around 10 till 7 as the tasting was to start at 7. The issue I have is the people putting on the tasting stood over at the end of the bar talking amongst themselves until after 7:20. No interaction or explanation from them. I assume they were waiting for the small plate of tasting foods to arrive. Just a simple announcement from them would have gone a long way. The foods came out and while delicious the plates were not complete. If memory serves right the tasting plates were seemingly rushed the two prior times too. I think it is an issue with the number of people that attend filling the bar up. My plate was missing the empanada (which once I mentioned it I received one) and my friends was missing the chimichurri on his. Not a deal breaker but after waiting to start it was disappointing. The three presenters stayed in their corner eating their appetizers for most of the night instead of interacting. The wine was fabulous. The food was great and perfect with the wine but the "experience" was less than awesome. I'm not sure we will go back for another. read more

There was a guy dipping tobacco at the bar and I asked why I had to go outside and Vape when there is an individual absolutely dipping tobacco at the bar but yet I have to go outside to Vape so they remove me from the situation because I guess it's better to dip and spit in front of everybody at a bar rather than to appreciate someone who respects boundaries and goes outside to Vape so I just don't get it I was vaping outside but an individual could Depp and spent inside and I was asked to leave wow! Don't come here and that's about the privileged people who get to do what they do inside of the bar when you are the normal person that has to abide by the rules. read more

This place is BEYOND terrible! Only 4 guys at the bar when we walked in. When my sister walked in by herself the manager/bartender said quote" you're so beautiful I'll lock the door behind you and we can have a private party". When I walked in, he complimented me on my looks and then how good I smelled. Yuck! He also said they had no food, which their online menus claim. This is the worst experience I've ever had! From the exterior, you wouldn't expect much from this place. Dark windows = sketchy to me. I want to see what you are up to! You could easily drive by and completely miss the place if it were not for the signage. But once you step in, the place surprises you. The interior is clean and simple. As the name implies, it is a wine bar. They had a large assortment of wines to please any wino all nicely encased in a glass case. And for those who like to pound down hard liquor instead, they had a stocked bar as well. Service wasn't an issue since we were the only group there on an early saturday night. The waitress/bartender was attentive and made a good martini. Our group tried out their food menu. We sampled the bin burger, roasted shallot mash potatoes, bin 73 kettle chips, jerk pork tenderloin, chicken prosciutto mushroom pasta, and pan seared halibut. All were really good and not lacking in flavor. Overall, this is a type of place that I would expect to see in SF/LA. Its nice to know that okc isn't all about cowboys, indians, and bbq. read more

Went here for dinner last night. Seriously, the first place I couldn't power through bad food. We sent our meals back and left. Hell, I couldn't even finish my wine. Unseasoned, undercooked, AND over cooked. Such a disappointment. Even the Pinot Grigio we had tasted like water, no flavor in anything! I'm really appalled. The best thing there was the service and that's nothing if everything else is horrible. They comped our meals and drinks. I might be back for drink, maybe, if I'm with other company that might want to come here, but I'm not coming back on my own ever again. I've been here once before for drinks and maybe it was horrible then too, I just couldn't tell because I was already drunk. Stopped by here to get some wine and snacks with a friend. We ordered a delicious bottle of pinot noir and a few small plates. We ended up ordering the marinated manchego, spring rolls and short ribs. Everything was delicious. I especially loved the short ribs and marinated manchego. The short ribs were tender and flavorful and the marinated manchego had chopped almonds and a garlic olive oil mixture. I liked the quiet, open atmosphere ( we came on a Tuesday evening). We went here after attending an event at the country club. There weren't a lot of people here, so the place was quiet. We like quiet places because it makes it easier to talk. The cocktail selection is minimal, but it has some classics like a mint julep and the Manhattan. I had the mint julep and it was spot-on. It was a great blend of bourbon and mint. My fella had the hurricane. It was a little sweet for my taste, but the liquors blended well together. With all the alcohol, it didn't taste like it was full of liquor. This was a good, little bar, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here. One bar tender was talented. The other was new. We had the hummus and pita for a snack. The hummus came out of a container, it seemed. It was served with celery, carrots, and pita bread. Since vegetables don't go well with liquor, we quickly consumed the pita bread. We asked for tortilla chips. We didn't finish them because they were covered in salt. Yuck. Go here for the drinks, not the food. But like I said, don't drive more than 15 minutes to get here. read more

I dropped by Bin 73 (my neighborhood bar) the other day because my cousin had never been and wanted to. We both sat at the bar and ordered a drink other than wine. The waitresses were cute, but didn't much care for us to be there. They made it a hassle for us to get another drink even though the place was almost empty for happy hour. They were having a wine tasting that night. Group by group everyone showed up and filled the place. The waitress did not ask us to leave, but just forgot about us. That was awkward since we were center of the bar. We probably would have joined in if invited to. I love wine and actually knew the wine distributor who was running the event. Every time someone walked around they would come to us and go "oh" and then skip us. It made us feel horrible and wasn't an inviting experience. I had chosen not to write about this experience until someone had flagged my last review of Bin. They said it wasn't first hand knowledge. This horrible evening was first hand knowledge. I live just down the street and shop at Cambers, Kamp's, and Seasonal Cellars. I don't recommend Bin 73 because it is overpriced, the wine isn't well selected, the food is small, and the staff isn't inviting to me. I am a huge fan of Bin 73 - While we don't visit often, when we do, it's always an enjoyable experience. They stock a broad range of wines, with tastes and price points accessible to all, and their eats are sooooo very yummy! Highly recommend the tator tots, spicy mac-n-cheese, and Manchego cheese plate (though from our experiences, you can't go wrong with anything you order). The only downside is that the space runs cold and because it's small, it can get insanely loud when the place starts to fill up. If you're looking for tapas-only eats and good wine (or other adult beverages), then Bin 73 will fit the bill perfectly. read more

I was really impressed with Bin 73's happy hour specials: $5 martinis during Happy Hour, which they generously give a 4p-7p Monday-Friday time slot. During that time you can also get $1.75 longnecks and half price on selected appetizers. I had a lemon drop and a cosmo, and both were delicious. Four drinks for $20 -- one martini at a Downtown bar can run you $12-$13, so I consider this a total steal. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and fun. The place git busy the later it got, but we always had everything we needed. The atmosphere is laid back, dark, great for a private conversation with a good friend. It got a little more jumping later on and probably is a pretty fun scene even later in the evening. Parking was super easy to boot. I'll definitely be back! read more

Bin 73 is one cozy place to eat and drink. I love the dim lights, intimate tables and small size of the place. They have great Happy Hour cocktail and appetizer specials from 4-7 weekdays, and their drink and wine list is pretty impressive besides that. The bartenders are friendly and fast with the drinkies. I usually get the chips with the green chili white queso (if you have a Keep It Local card you get a free order!!), and the smoked salmon is uhmayzing. Bin 73 is like a giant blanket I want to wrap myself in. This isn't the first time I've visited, I've been a few times for happy hour/dinner. It's never loud and always very chill. It's small enough to feel intimate, but big enough that you're not stepping all over everyone. It seems hidden away, like the rest of Nichols Hills hasn't discovered it yet. I was really craving the Queso Rojo - which is a twist on the regular chips and queso. The queso is really thick (I'm assuming made with cream cheese) with just the right amount of spice. There was something to be desired on the chips, they seemed a little stale- but I won't fault them for it because I've had the same appetizer before with no complaints. I ordered the Old Fashioned, which was great, not too strong with the right amount of flavor. My roommate ordered the Strawberry Lemonade, which was really refreshing and could probably be very dangerous. We ended up splitting two tapas dishes - the salmon and bin poutine. The salmon was the winner here. There was something off about the poutine, maybe it was the red wine vinaigrette, but it didn't quite gel with the rest of the dish. The salmon however... I will dream about that dish. Served cold, you spread the salmon on a toast point with a horseradish mayo. So. Good. One time I went and I had the burger and sweet potato fries (my go to) and I remember it being very good. I decided to branch out last night and I didn't quite love it. But that won't stop me from going to Bin 73. The prices are decent, the service is GREAT and I love the atmosphere. Thumbs up for Bin 73! Goals for next time: Try some wines. Order different tapas. I stopped by Bin 73 for a quick happy hour and I'm glad I finally got to try it. They had both an excellent wine list and a great $5 cocktail list. I was going to try two different cocktails but the lemon drop was so good I ordered a second. We also had an order of spring rolls and two different types of chips and queso-- I liked one better than the other (though I can't remember which now). The menu reads that they are "silky" quesos, which doesn't prepare for the really cream-cheese like texture. Not bad, just different. The only bummer was the chips were a little greasy, but not enough to stop me from eating them. The service was fast and we had a total of 3 people helping our table of six. I like the dark, sort of mysterious atmosphere in there. That makes it a really good pre-dinner drink date and I would happily come back for some after work drinks again. read more

I kept going between 2 & 3 stars for this place. It was clean and nice enough for a small bar. I had looked online at the menu to get an idea of the menu items & price, but when we actually arrived it was a different menu and the prices were higher than what was online. I ordered a chicken mushroom on French bread sandwich which was $10 (sides were additional). It was bland and the chicken seemed like it was precooked chicken. The bread was not French bread but regular bread. My husband ordered the wrap (again $10, no sides included) & all he could taste was the over abundance of shiracha... and he's a big fan of shiracha, but it was even over loaded with it. It took quite awhile to get our food considering it was a sandwich & wrap. We had also ordered a side of fries, which never showed up. They were out of a lot of the local beers. I ordered specialty cocktails were pretty good. Overall though, not a place I would return to. read more

GREAT PLACE! My friends and I go to this place all the time and always have a great time! The wine selection has something for everyone, the liquor selection is huge, & the beer comes in a wide range as well. The food is also good. I absolutely LOVE the Ahi Tuna! It is definitely the best in the city. Most places have removed Tuna from the menu with the rising costs, but Bin 73 kept it on the menu (they just had to raise the price, which I'm more than happy to pay!). The bar staff is great! They are always friendly and attentive. We come so often that the bartenders seem more like friends than servers. Just like with any great bar/restaurant... If you take care of the servers, they will always take care of you! This is also a good place to grab a bite for lunch. They aren't typically too busy so its always easy to get a table and the food USUALLY comes out pretty quick. However, if you are in a hurry this might not be the best place to go; if its busy things can take a little longer. Overall, great restaurant/bar! read more

I thought we'd been here a couple years ago or so and seen a huge wine list, but we went in recently and they had maybe six reds and six whites? Not a huge selection for a "wine bar." I visited Bin 73 on a Saturday evening with a friend to catch-up with each other and neither one of us had visited before. I was completely blow away and love Bin 73! The ambiance is great! It was a nice, place to be able to sit down with my good friend, chat, grab drinks, and have some good food with great service. We both acknowledged that it is sometimes hard to find a place where you can sit-down and visit with someone. Most places are loud, too busy, and the wait-staff is very pushy for customers to leave. This was not the experience at Bin 73! While we were unsure of who are waiter was, since we had multiple people come by to help us, regardless the service was great! The waitstaff made sure that our waters were always filled, made sure to check if we would like to have another drink, and if the food was good. I ordered the chips, salsa, and queso to start with and felt that it was okay. It's nothing to write home about. The queso wasn't as cheesy as I would have liked and the salsa is very mild with little to no kick, but I don't hold it against them since this isn't technically on their menu. To drink, I had a red medium-bodied wine from Chile, since my dad says that the best red wine is from Chile, and I really liked. I'm not a wine snob, so I can't really go into too much detail. My friend ordered their flight of wine and said that she really enjoyed. For entrees, I ordered the turkey burger and I think it is delicious! The burger is a very decent size! Meaning the meat is thick. I had to take half of it and the fries home. Let me tell you about the fries! They give a whole basket portion of fries! They don't skimp on the fries. My friend ordered their blackened chicken wrap, as was recommended by the waiter, and she was raving about it as much as I was about my burger. We both had a great experience at Bin 73 and will be coming back to visit. It is honestly really hard to find places like this now a days. read more

This is the third time I have been to Bin 73 in the last month. We first tried it around the end of July 2012. I have been back so often because their hours are great, and I often don't go out for a cocktail until after 9. I'm always looking for a nice quiet place for a night cap. The added bonus is they serve food pretty late which means my night cap can include dessert. The cocktails are fun and one of my favorite wines is on the menu (Michael David Petite Petit). There is no draft beer. I have only tried their dessert and I'm quite fond of their hand rolled chocolate truffles. Especially since I can buy 1 if I just need a little something sweet, or I can buy 20 for a family style dessert for the table. 1st Visit: Bartender was very friendly, and attentive. We didn't care for the lack of draft beer and the decor is "okay". 4 stars 2nd Visit: I sat at the bar and the bartender didn't recognize me from only three days previous (a big part of getting a regular is a great bartender who remembers you). She was still very attentive and made my friend and I some very yummy and fun cocktails. 3.5 stars 3rd Visit: The cocktail server brought us our bottle of wine, and I began to ask her about dessert. She told me they only had truffles and then she walked away. She did not ask if I would like any... Anyone asking about dessert at 10:45pm probably would like to buy some. I sat back and was sure she would check back. After 15 min I became annoyed and started to stare at her in an attempt to get her attention. That did not work. I then began to lift my hand every time she would pass by in a more pronounced attempt to get her attention. She finally noticed me 11:07 and informed me that they were no longer serving dessert. After a quick exchange (I might have been a bit terse) she decided that they could probably still make the truffles. When she brought them out, both mine and my boyfriend's wine glasses were empty. The next logical step is to ask if we would like another. She did not. I spent the next ten minutes trying to get her attention so we could order another drink. This charade continued until we were finally tired of the poor service. 1 star read more

We stopped by for a performance with a local musician. The drinks were okay, but the service was very slow and the bartenders were unsure of how to make the simplest cocktails, and although it was January the door was open because patrons in the back we're hot. (I guess they cannot afford proper air systems). We had a beer spilled on us by the bar keep because she was "in a hurry" and I was ignored when I was trying to pay the tab, then I had my change tossed at me.
