I found Bimmerscan through a recommendation from Gemini (Google AI) and decided to check them out. After seeing great reviews on Google and Yelp--and verifying their address--I gave them a call. The owner, Nathan, answered personally and was incredibly responsive. I sent in my FRM3 module, and he repaired and shipped it back the same day he received it. I just finished the installation, and every single failure symptom is gone. Highly recommend Nathan for his expertise and lightning-fast turnaround! read more

After an oil change a BMW dealer my e70 X5M was returned back to me with the lighting system error. After being it up to the service advisor, they took the car back in. They came back to me and mentioned that the footwell module had failed and that this was due to an after market screen on my vehicle. They offered to replace it at my expense and it would take up to 45 days to get the part. I declined, very upset at the fact that they took zero responsibility. I at least was looking for an explanation on how that could have happened. Went online and found out that this a known problem for many E chasis BMWs and mine was no exception. I would have love to have hear that from the service advisor and technician. Long story short. Found Bimmerscan on a search for local BMW module repairs, they came up with great reviews, except for one person that gave one star and claimed this place was closed (don't believe that). Called a couple of times and didn't get an answer, decided to take a gamble and drove to the facility. Was greeted by a very friendly group of car enthusiast that work at laguna wood auto repair. They promptly directed me to Bryce, the legend himself came to greet me. Took my module and said, give me 15 mins. Sure it enough, came after 15 mins and showed me the repairs and gave me an amazing explanation on why these modules fail. But even better game me a tour of the facility and showed me some amazing builds in the shop. I highly recommend Bryce and Bimmerscan. He is truly a genius and excellent person. If you stop by the shop, don't be surprise if you are greeted by Jacky and shops beautiful Bloodhound pup named Arthur. He is very playful and welcoming. My daughter wanted to take home with us. read more

6 stars is what Bimmerscan deserves. Bryce was phenomenal in getting my DME, CAS and keys cloned when my bimmer died at high highway speeds. the DME became non functional and would overheat shutting off igntion, injection, valvetronic, or fuel pump. With a replacement DME, CAS and keys all mapped, everything was right as rain and things have been working great for months. The process and interactions with Bryce were absolutely perfect. Other shops this is the bar that should be met, and only a tiny few even come close to this level of expertise and ability to execute. read more

I had a faulty frm on my 135i. The gentleman I spoke to was very flexible with time and had told me it would be done most likely within 30 minutes. I came by around 6:30pm and left after 25 minutes! What a standup guy! read more

I had a faulty FRM module on my 2010 Mini Cooper (no turn signals, no power windows, no interior lights, no highbeams) so my R56 was essentially running in safe-mode. I called Bryce and he put me at ease with his knowledge and price point for the repair/reprogramming. I didn't even hesitate driving 45 miles down to Laguna Hills from LA and was very happy to get down there, unplug my FRM, and hand it over to Bryce. He had me in and out of there in less than 30 minutes and even took me to his computer station to walk me through the repair and gave some helpful tips as well. Highly recommend!! My Coop is back to running at 100% thanks to Bryce at Bimmerscan. All the dealers I called wanted to replace the FRM module with a brand new one, I'd imagine on top of service fees. Save the money and hassle and get your BMW or Mini back on the road with Bimmerscan. read more

Drove over 50 miles from La to laguna hills, totally worth it. After replacing a relay in my mini cooper the frm went haywire. No brake , turning and hazard lights. Windows stop working. Other shops want me to buy new frm from the dealer and they wil install it. But upon arriving with bryce, after i remove my frm it only took him 15 mins to reprogram. Everything is working again. Save me a lot of money and time. read more

Bryce saved me over $2000!! I had a dead FRM from a Mini Cooper, and my mechanic wanted to charge over $2000 in parts and labor. After some research, I found the FRM failing was common and came across Bimmerscan. Although the website was dated and made me a bit unsure, I could tell he knew his stuff, so I called and spoke with Bryce. He said he could fix the FRM, and a replacement wasn't even needed. I ended up driving 1.5 hours where I was met with kindness and a warm welcome from the staff sharing the address. Bryce carried that atmosphere throughout my short stay. It only took 20 min. for Bryce to fix the problem. He brought me back for a detailed explanation with energy and passion for his craft. On top of all this, he's just a great guy who loves what he does. I sadly had to leave and drive another 1.5 hours back, but the experience with Bryce and the staff sharing the address (shout out to Bob and his Coke decor!) made it worth the trek. The cherry on top was the part worked and comes with a lifetime guarantee! read more

I read good things about this auto-shop so I also took my chance when our 2013 328i had valve gasket issues. I did my own research and I was prepared to pay north of $400 for repairs. Bryce had his mechanic (Gen) looked into it and I was very lucky that he immediately recognized my car was still under the BMW SULEV 15 years/150k miles warranty. They were very honest and not once attempted to charge me unnecessary repair costs. Instead they advised me to take it to the Irvine dealership where I got the valve gasket fix for free! It's very hard to find honest and reputable auto repair shop, most certainly if you know very little about car warranties. These guys are professional, honest and they earned my business. I returned couple of weeks ago and had my front brakes replaced for a fair cost. Gen worked on my car and he did a great and quick service! Support these guys, call Dallon or Bryce for your BMW needs! read more

This is the second time I have used Bryce's services to repair/service my FRM. Works perfectly 100% time. Very fast turn around time (to WA). Thank you so much for your service and your friendliness. 100% recommended. read more

Brice took care of my issue quickly and easily with his professional equipment and knowledge that is required to code and program.

My experience with Bryce and his son were nothing but positive and amazing. At first I doubted driving the 63 miles from Los Angeles to Laguna Hills, but it was well worth the drive. An DME ECU job that another BMW shop had quoted me $3500 on, they fixed for 10% of the cost. Not many people have the software capabilities and Bmw knowledge that Bimmerscan has. I recommend taking your BMW here first, before spending any other excess money at any other places. I wish I would have done this, it could've saved me a lot of money. read more

very rude , crazy even. doesn't know how to talk to people. won't answer phone to explain himself

Brought a clients e60 530i in for a diagnostic scan regarding a reset for the adaptive headlight module several months back, Bryce corrected the issue within minutes. This review is long overdue, if you have a BMW that requires any form of advanced diagnosis this is the BEST Independent shop to do so in ALL of Southern California, speaking from over a decade of personal experience in the industry as a shop owner myself. I will be bringing in my personal vehicle shortly to have Bryce and his team take a look at my non-functioning iDrive button (e70 x5m) as soon as possible! Thank you Bryce for providing your expertise in a prompt and professional manner. read more

Previous review is not true. Bryce is definitely in business and just repaired a footwell module for a BMW for me.

Awesome place, awesome people, honest people from the get go... I talked to Steve on the phone the day before. Drove the car in the following day, removed the part my self on site, handed it over to them and it took like 15 minutes including a personal demo of the work done. Installed the part in the car on site and all the problems I was having went away (no blinkers, no hazard lights, no dashboard lights, head light wouldn't turn off, and the windows did not roll up or down). I can't thank them enough, after spending the day before at the dealership (Escondido BMW/mini (who suck by the way)) where they wanted $300 to do just the diag of an obvious issue that did not need diag + $562 for a replacement FRM (cuz they wouldn't even look at the old one) plus time to program the new one, + time to remove it and install the new one. This job could have easily been over $1000.00 at the dealer. Anyway, if you have an issue like the one I described above, remove the part and send it to Bimmerscan. Thanks guys, much appreciated... read more

Awesome awesome awesome place. My bmw computer (ECU,ECM) was fried. I bought a new one sent both to Bryce at bimmerscan and wow is this guy fast. The day he got it he completed the work needed to be done to mate the new ECU to my car keys and Cass and it would have been sent back to me in the same day but it was a Saturday. He sent it out first thing mon and here it is Weds and I have my ECU. He gave me multiple ways to pay him, he was very friendly, and gave me very good customer service. Talked to me respectfully explained everything to me what I needed to do and answered all my questions. Great guy and business to deal with I would highly highly recommend you use bimmerscan I'm glad I found them that's for sure. Thanks again bimmerscan/Bryce I will def be using you guys in the future. I tried tuning a performance tune but the flash kept failing leaving my car stranded for two weeks. Had 2hr diagnostic tests done by so-called bmw mechanics but none of them could figure out what the issue was. I drive a 2009 135i. I began having some weird electrical problems with the radio. Having heard of Bimmerscan before, I already knew that I was going to take it there. I had heard nothing but great things about Bryce. Bryce did a quick diagnostics test, and within minutes had an answer for me. It was a simple fix and Bryce charged me an extremely reasonable price. Go to Bryce for all your BMW diagnostic needs! My 2011 128i had some electrical issues, causing the radio not to work and the speedometer, RPM, and gas gauge to suddenly drop and rise while driving. Words can not describe the level of professionalism from Bryce. I had changed the spark plugs and coil packs on my 2013 BMW M5 F10. After completion of the job, my car's check engine light along with bunch of other warnings came on and the vehicle was not running at all. I contacted the dealership (Bob Smith BMW in Calabasas) which is close to my house and I advised them of what my problem was. The service advisor stated that I would need reprogramming of the two DME computers. I took the vehicle in and after two days the dealer advised me that the car was reprogrammed. I picked up my car from the dealer and noticed that the turbos on my vehicle were not spooling up at all, no power what's so ever. I took the car back to the dealer and after keeping it for two additional days, the dealer advised that the computers on my vehicle were fried and that I needed two DME computers replacement for total of $6,522.47. I knew that something was wrong, that's when I contacted Bryce at BimmerScan. Bryce investigated and discovered that the DME's were not fried and that the computers by the "Dealer" were only programmed partially (40%). Due to old and new software conflict the turbo boost did not work. My car was fixed within few hours of programming the entire computer "properly" by BimmerScan and it is running beautifully. I want to thank Bryce for his professionalism and knowledge of BMW cars. I would never take it to the dealer again for anything. BimmerScan is 70 plus miles away from me but it is worth every minute of it when it comes to computer repairs on BMW. read more
