I did have another Dr. for a year that I really liked, but the last half of my time there has been a high turn over. I make an appointment to establish care and before my follow up arrives, the Dr. has left. This creates a situation where you don't know your Dr. even worse, they don't know you. At one point I was assigned to a new Doctor without my input and given an appointment without my knowledge. I asked the person that called who did this and they said it was the board of directors. I informed the person I did not want the Doctor they put me with, nor did I appreciate an appointment being made without my input or knowledge. I picked another Doctor and before my appointment came that Doctor had left. I picked another Doctor and after the first visit I was like this Doctor wasn't listening and unrealistic about things and before I could get a follow up or schedule with a different Doctor he too left HMS. Minus my first 4 years here I have been through 6 Doctors in 7 years. Most of the providers I liked with the exception of the last one, but there is no continuity of care. During COVID they came out with a new check in system using a tablet. It isn't user friendly the screen doesn't respond or responds improperly to inputs and I end up visiting the ladies at the reception desk. Not only that, but let's have everyone that is sick keep touching the same tablet. I asked a receptionist who checked me in in less than 30 seconds who's dumb idea it was and was told, the board of directors. I have needed urgent appointments and often been told that i would have to drive to a clinic out of town for care. Even routine appointments sometimes they try and send me out of town. If i have to guess who my provider is or drive an hour to go to another clinic, i may as well drive to Las Cruces or even Tucson to get better care and a regular Doctor. I believe HMS is unable to maintain staff, good staff, maintain continuity of care, and are out of touch with the needs of the community and patients. I think it is time to switch clinics.

It takes weeks to get an appointment - and if you are sent for a test, count on weeks more, Then the IDK-shrug for a diagnosis. If they send you to GRMC for a test, you can wait weeks. Ask to be sent to Deming for quicker testing, and they act like you've insulted them. It's so sad. The place needs new management urgently.

She was so sweet, friendly, cute and personable - heck I even found out we have the same birthday - but what really stood out was how much effort she put into actually helping me. She made calls, spoke with billing, the dentist, and her supervisor, and kept following up with everyone - including me - to make sure the issue was being handled. It's rare to come across someone who genuinely goes that far out of their way to help. I really appreciated her kindness and how seriously she took my situation. I've been clean for 5 years. I don't even drink alcohol! Am I a bad person for needing both psychiatric care as well as addiction maintenance? Because today my mother called them (I'm sick since I've been seeing a nurse Practitioner, Mr. Omega. He completely changed my psychiatric medication without even getting a full evaluation), and handed me the phone. The woman on the other end said these exact words "so, you want suboxone, right? No...No!!!! I called because you folks at HMS have nearly destroyed my entire life. I call and leave messages for Nicole and she does not call me back. This is the kind of place that seems to employe ignorant and unfriendly, uninviting and condescending people who will treat you like pathetic junkie. I asked Nurse Practitioner Omega if he was actually a doctor (everyone calls him "Dr. Omega") , I figured he was an actual Doctor since he took some of my medications away completely. When I did ask him what kind of medical proffessional he was, he told me that it's NOT IMPORTANT and NONE of my concern!! I'm a proffessional, grown woman who has not touched substances FOR 5 YEARS!! Today the woman I spoke with, the one who asked "you want suboxone, right?" Hung up on me, why?? Because I finally, FINALLY WAS ANGRYYYY! I did absolutely raise my voice because she would not stop talking about how there is a waiting list for the maintenance program...Uhhh IM ALREADY A PATIENT!!?? Do they just assume that I'm some random dope fiend? I'm honestly not sure... I am sick. I am unable to work due to these extreeeeme changes in my psychiatric medication. I moved to Silver City, New Mexico under the impression that HMS offers psychiatric and dependance care because my mother was assured that they offered the care that I require. I am living an absolute nightmare! I am kind. I have been so kind to these people. I've left messages in tears begging for help. Nurse Practitioner Omega decided that he would no longer be my provider and that he was "putting in a referral for a new provider". Nobody has called me about this. I'm now being just...left hanging. I've had to cut my pills into quarters and suffer through insane withdrawal. So bad that I've gone to the hospital twice! But...HMS....forgot that I am their patient... The young woman who hung up on me today should have shut her mouth while I spoke. She should have listened to me from the beginning of the conversation as opposed to speaking over me louder and louder until I HAD ENOUGH! My entire world has been flipped upside down. Just writing this is extremely difficult because, they chose to mess with my medication and leave me hanging with nothing. Nothing at all. I was becoming increasingly concerned about Mr. Omega, the way he speaks to me like I'm worthless. So? I began to video record our sessions. If these people dont wake up and help me. She was told that Erin would call me. No call... so I called them, and the woman I spoke with said that Erin isn't even there today!!! So yeah. Given the way people now act, (self-entitled) it's not a surprise to me that healthcare workers are less compassionate in general. The fact they need security and have put up a sign to remind people how to behave should concern us all. As it is with all rural ER's, funds are limited, so getting premium workers for ALL positions is not realistic. Funding also has impact on procedures available, which limits the options of care the ER can offer. Bottom line; every visit is a different experience. Be it over professionalism, knowledge, attention or availability. I've had a 5 star visit with the doctor remembering me two years later, to a -1 star visit where the doctor was dismissive, uneducated and rude that ended with my primary physician actually contacting human resources over his actions. There is no denying the board has a lot of work ahead to make the ER improved, much rated more than 3 stars. It also can't be denied that some people expect to much from any ER, much less a rural one. The job is to stabalize, not fix. I believe we'd ALL remember that if there were more options for care, more physicians, more walk-in clinics, late night clinics, and more specialties offered in this area. I'm only giving a four star rating over the 3 star I think the ER is due to other posts. I believe a one star should be about a death/malpractice, not about personal actions/attitudes.
