The first load, several years ago, seemed to contain larger pieces, and less 'debris', but as it has been years, it honestly could be the same, so take that with a grain of salt if you will. There is a delay of weeks between ordering kiln dried and delivery. Just about the time I was expecting the delivery, I received a call that they had the truck loaded up and the recipient refused the order due to some emergency, and would I be available to take it. It happened that I was home, and available to stack wood on the day he called, so I accepted the load. It does seem to be a full load, that is, 1 cord, and as I stated, the pieces all seem a bit on the small side: not in length, but in girth. Kiln dried is, as stated, dried, so the pieces are smaller- that is expected. These just seem a bit too small from memory of the last delivery. We have had an opportunity to burn a couple of times and the wood lights right up and burns longer as kiln dried does without needing to restock the insert. All in all, we are happy to have kiln dried firewood. the delivery was within the timeline expected, the driver accepts cash or check (no credit cards) and he dumped it right where we asked him to without incident.

All of the pieces were cut to the size requested and delivered exactly where we needed them dropped in our yard. He also told me that he could deliver 3/4 of a cord in one size and 1/4 in another since we also have a fireplace that can handle bigger logs. The majority of the wood was tried and ready to go and the bit that was wetter due to the weather conditions(he delivered the day after a snowstorm) dried out very quickly and was easily burnable.

WAS NOT seasoned, moisture content was way above less then 20%…read more After using my meter wood was more like Green which is 60% moisture. after 2 weeks of storage in garage moisture content was in high 40% range. NOT SEASONED. Called store and guy gave me crap about wood was stored out side. I stacked and stored in my garage for two weeks. Moisture content was still in high 40%.. Just because they leave wood outside for a couple of months does NOT mean it is seasoned. PAID a lot of money for wood I cant us till next YEAR. Will NEVER go to or buy from them Again. wood from a swamp burns better. Have to load with card board and pieces of 2x4s to keep burning. Save your money wood is crap!! People don't want to help you either. Home depot on a Sunday gives better help.

Terrible experience. I reached out to Shalvey Brothers to have my yard treated for weeds patches…read moreand cut. I even asked for a quote to cut out a small circle area where I plan to install a firepit. I spoke to Tom shalvey who offered to cut the firepit circle for free. I sent him multiple pictures of my yard and requested a quote as mentioned. He quoted the following in an email: Spring cleanup $450.00 Lawn cut $50.00 each Basic fire pit installed. $1500.0. I sent an email to Tom asking if Spring Cleanup includes the clearing of weeds, and Tom asked me to call him because he was in the middle of something. From our conversation he told me the weeds would be taken care of. The crew came hours later than the time slot I was told and I wasn't home at the time. When I returned all that was completed was a "cut" which is $50 per the quote. I called Shalvey saying that the weeds and patches have not been tended to and I do not want to pay a Spring cleanup fee if all that was a cut. Not to mention they didn't cut the circle for the firepit like he promised. Shalvey informed me that they would have the crew return and complete the work. I tried reaching out the next two days to see when the crew would return as I'm leaving town and the office kept telling me they would check and let me know. So I sent Tom an email explaining that I needed it completed sooner as originally scheduled (no one at the office was getting back to me). He had the crew come back out and cut out the circle for the firepit but nothing else was done with the weeds and patches. I was out of town and when I returned 2 weeks later I couldn't get a hold of Tom. After calling several times and being told someone would get back to me I dropped the matter all together. I had put down a $150 deposit which is much more than the actual work completed. No one could get back to me to complete the work and resolve the issue. I ended up moving out of state and was reached out to only once of twice to pay the invoice. I informed them the work was not completed as promised and I'm not paying the additional $300 for a clean up when it was just a cut. They said they'd look into the bill and get me an updated invoice, only to call me a month later to say the work was in fact completed when it wasn't. The phone calls then picked up to be more frequent. They ended up getting a lawyer and threatening to go to collections. I do not recommend Shalvey Brothers and warn all homeowners to stay away from them. They will mislead you, earn your trust and then rob you. Find a better company with good reviews and save yourself the stress.
