I was sad when Field to Fork closed, however it didn't take long for Bill's to pop up in it's place. I was a bit wary at first, hearing that it was "just a burger chain" from some of the locals, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised.
I would call the interior comfortable, but I could see it being a bit claustrophobic for some. They have various edible items for sale around the restaurant, which gives it a very casual feel, though the hanging chandeliers and glowing candle sticks on every table add a little something.
I stuck with the basics and just had a burger and fries, which turned out to be the best burger I've found in Epsom. My wife had the roast half chicken with grilled corn and sweet potato fries. Being Expat Americans, this really felt like home, and was even better than my burger.
I tried a couple of the craft beers on the menu as well, which were a welcome change from the usual line-up of ales and lagers in the neighbouring pubs. My wife had a peach tea, which was apparently quite tasty (though not really my thing.)
My only complaint is that we tried to order a starter which never showed. Our waiter apologized profusely, and thankful it never appeared on our bill. (He seemed a bit new, as I imagine most of their staff is still trying to get into the swing of things.) Other than that, it was an excellent first visit, and I look forward to returning soon. read more
