We are living near Ealing in Acton for six months while my husband is working here in London. We drove past Bill's several times and decided to pop in on a Saturday afternoon. We had an amazing lunch and received top notch, friendly service. I highly recommend. I had their burger and sweet potato fries and Bill's IPA. Burger was cooked to order and very juicy. My husband had chicken with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. I tasted his too and it was very yummy. We are looking forward to going back and trying them for breakfast sometime soon.

Lovely place to have breakfast and sit to have a nice chat without being rushed out. I had Bill's breakfast with baked beans; £1.30 extra for baked beans which is a quite pricey since it comes in a small tin container with 3 tablespoons of beans (see photo). Other than that the meal was decent and the service very friendly. Our waiter let us sit and talk while we drank our lattes, but then it wasn't busy being a Tuesday morning. I noticed they added a service charge at their discretion which I found odd and would suggest just adding a service charge for everyone, since the staff are nice and friendly. I enjoy dining at Bill's at any location and was glad to have tried the Ealing location.

Bill's breakfast. The mushrooms are amazing.

Not sure why the average is only three stars because this place is great. Came for breakfast and ordered two Bill's breakfast plates. The mushrooms, tomato, sausage, bacon and everything made for an excellent start to the day. Coming back tomorrow!

I visited Rose & Crown on two consecutive…read moredays, and unfortunately, both experiences were extremely disappointing and left me feeling unwelcome. On my first visit, after being greeted, I waited nearly an hour just to receive water and a menu. During that time, other patrons who arrived after me were quickly attended to and served food and drinks, despite the restaurant not being busy. This delay was unusual and immediately gave me a sense that I was being treated differently. I decided to give the place another chance the next day because I enjoyed the ambiance and fireplace. However, the same troubling pattern repeated itself. I sat for almost an hour without being offered water or a menu. It took so long I opened a book. When I finally asked for water, assuming the menu would come. The manager told me I would need to leave if I wasn't ordering anything, even though I had not been given a menu or had the chance to order yet. As I waited with people passing me by for a second day with no menu or water offered until an hour and then be prompted to leave. The service I received was not only slow but felt discriminatory and exclusionary. The fact that other guests were attended to promptly while I was ignored made me feel singled out and unwelcome. While the atmosphere and fireplace are nice, the way I was treated made it impossible for me to enjoy the experience. Based on my experience, I would not recommend eating here if you are a person of color, as the treatment I received was unacceptable and gave me serious concerns about the establishment's approach to hospitality and inclusivity. I would not recommend eating here overall if you want good customer service. It missed the mark and the worst restaurant I have been to thus far in town. 0/10.

Knowing that going to central London would be crazy, people and transportation wise, we knew we had to stick to a place near where we were staying. Thankfully, this pub was opened and had some nice reviews for their roast. I made reservations months before our trip to make sure we secured a spot. I made reservations for 1pm, but didn't show up until 3pm (military time confused me). That was totally my fault, but the hosts were so nice and accommodating and were able to find us a table. We knew we wanted the Sunday roast so we ordered one for our table, and decided to try other dishes: beer battered haddock, farm beef burger, and fried chicken nuggets. The fish was beautifully presented over a bed of chips, and also served with some peas. The peas were decadent: the mint gave it a nice touch. Son loved and secured his burger. The chicken nuggets were also tasty and crunchy. The Sunday roast exceeded our expectations. Plenty hoe gravy and fresh horseradish served on the side. The carrots and another white vegetable I'm not familiar with, we're nicely cooked. The roast was so tasty, tender, and juicy. It made me sad that we could only have this meal once during our trip. We enjoyed our meal with a nice IPA (neck oil) and cider (Cornish orchards) . The mixture of carbs and alcohol gave me enough relaxation to make it home and take the nicest siesta I've had in a while. Anyway, I'm happy I was able to be able to finally try Sunday roast, even though I was two hours late (don't do that), and I highly do recommend trying it here. You won't be disappointed! A cozy pub with great food and beer selection, is there anything else you can ask for?

I like the laid-back cool of the place. There's lots of well-worn wood on floors and walls, and disparate types of rustic, comfy furniture. There's a number of beers on tap, and often some interesting imports (they carried Sleeman's, a Canadian beer, for a while, and always have some Belgian fruit beers). Their wine list is extensive. They also have some decent wines on tap if you're not too snooty. The food here is really good, and I've had everything from bar snacks to brunch to full meals. Quite a few vegetarian options. I'll admit that I did have one bad dining experience here where my burger took forever and had to be sent back once it came, but the rest of the time it's been good. There are three rooms, all similar in vibe and furnishings. They've got a covered outdoor area in the alley beside the pub. There's no greenery, just picnic benches, but they run a barbeque out there in the summer. I've come to this pub on my own a couple of times when I'm been free during weekdays: it's a good place to have a drink and read a book, do a bit of work, or people-watch passers-by on the Broadway during the day. On weekend evenings a DJ spins up in the front room, and the place can get very busy at those times. One criticism is that they sometimes don't seem to have enough bar staff on to handle the impressive crowds they draw, and getting served can take a while. I think it's a 21-and-over pub.
