Although things look a little different, some things stay the same. The selection is outstanding, the service is friendly and knowledgeable and now with many updates in the building, everything is nice and clean and in good repair. I had a couple donuts and a delicious cup of coffee and was able to catch up with an old friend.

Bill's Donuts has always been a huge go-to for me! It's open 24/7 and has the best donuts in the area (dare I say world?!... they are very very good!). Prices are super reasonable and the staff are always kind. You can't go wrong with any donut selection and it's a nice place to sit down with friends and family and eat your donuts. Since 1979, this establishment founded by Bill and Faye Elam has been located on N Main Street in Centerville. But one might be surprised to know that Phil Donahue, who used to live in the area, visited quite often before he became a talk show host in the 1970s. This doughnut shop has embraced its 1960s diner feel with a few booths and barstool-style chairs; mainly takeout is open 24 hours. We've heard about this place, and some of us are first-timers. Upon entering, there was a line, but it moved at a decent pace. They offered a wide variety of cake donuts, filled donuts, pastries, muffins, and more! My partner, his family, and I decided on a dozen mixed with Boston Crème, Jelly, Sour Cream, and Chocolate Donuts. The quality and taste were excellent, and one could tell they were freshly made. The price was reasonable for the area. The staff was great with helping us make our decisions. A must-visit if one's in the area, which we can recommend.

Bill's Donuts Yes to Online Take Away 'Tis a glorious sunny Friday at 10:20 AM as I arrive at Bill's Donuts. There is no traffic on the roads of Centerville. As I enter Bill's parking lot, there is only one parking space. Why are so many folks at Bill's? The human line extends from the long counter to the parking lot. Clearly Bill's Donuts is arguably the "best" donut shop in Ohio, or at least SW Ohio, or Centerville. Bill's has recently remodeled and added an Interior take away counter apart from the scurry of the long line. The Online process is "bugy." I recommend a jpg of the donuts to be ordered. The confirmation of the order is missing. Nevertheless, my wife has several favorites including the Cruller. A cruller (/krlr/) is a deep-fried pastry popular in parts of Europe and North America. In Europe it is typically either made of a string of dough that is folded over and twisted twice to create its signature shape or is formed from a rectangle of dough with a cut in the center allowing it to be pulled over and through itself to produce distinctive twists in the sides of the pastry. In North America, it is typically a form of cake doughnut made in a small loaf or simple stick shape or, in the case of the "French cruller", extruded in a ring from choux pastry. Bill's does not identify a Cruller donut; thus, I must guess at to identity, and I get it right. Next is a chocolate iced donut; there are several choices, and fortunately I recall that my wife prefers custard to crème - this is the Chocolate Iced Custard Long John. Of course I rearrange fridge to accommodate this order. The clerk at take-away is very busy, and a bit annoyed to sort out my take away order; perhaps, customer training is in order. The very small parking lot precludes a take away window. Perhaps, I should have done Take Away at 2:36 AM. All in all, I survived rudimentary On Line instructions and an annoyed clerk at Bill's.

I believe that beloved establishments like Bill's Donut Shop are defined not only by their delicious offerings, but also by the people who serve them. My friends and family have been loyal customers of Bill's for years. Whenever we need pastries for special occasions--graduations, birthdays, or simply to satisfy a midnight craving--we know we can count on Bill's for treats that are always fresh and flavorful. The custard-filled chocolate Long Johns are our absolute favorite; if you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend you do. Recently, however, I had a disappointing experience. I ordered 3 chocolate custard Long Johns, a chocolate muffin, a strawberry muffin, a cinnamon sugar muffin, a blackberry turnover, and two chocolate milks. What I received, instead, was 1 chocolate Long John, 1 and 3/4 eaten chocolate muffins, 1 strawberry muffin, the blackberry turnover, and the two milks. Concerned, I took photos and reported this to the third-party delivery company, who confirmed the food safety sticker was misplaced--raising the possibility that the order could have been tampered with. In addition, the order was obviously incomplete and incorrect, which indicated carelessness from the store staff. While the third-party company accepted responsibility for the delivery, I felt it was important to also alert Bill's staff to these issues for the sake of future customers and food safety. Having spent over 13 years in Corporate Management overseeing Customer relations, I understand the importance of clear communication and corrective action when mistakes happen. Unfortunately, when I called the store to share my concerns, I was deeply disappointed by the response I received from the manager, Niki. Rather than listening or addressing the issue, she seemed dismissive and told me to resolve everything with the delivery service, disregarding my concerns about the order accuracy and food safety. When I reiterated that I wasn't asking for a refund, but wanted to bring this to her attention for quality control, she responded curtly, insinuating that I was just calling to "whine and complain." I ended the call, feeling upset and disrespected. I truly love Bill's--your pastries have always been a highlight for me and my loved ones. But to be met with this level of rudeness from a manager was both surprising and disheartening, especially given how much your bakery means to our family. I recognize that late hours and long shifts are challenging, but basic courtesy and accountability go a long way--even when mistakes happen. I hope this feedback encourages your team to take future concerns seriously and to uphold the quality of service that has made Bill's so special to so many.

Highlight: Sour Cream Cake ($1.25) Bill's offers a lot of variety in their baked goods. The taste of the donuts themselves is good, but it's more on the dry to crumbly side for me, rather than a soft, airy texture. Hospitality: Always at least 3 people at the counter, so the service is fast. Honorable Mention: They remodeled recently, so there's limited seating inside. Very convenient that they are open 24/7 because not a lot of places open late.

My boyfriend is from Dayton and said Bill's donuts were a must try. We came by pretty late at night (they're open 24/7) and got their pretzel donut and a red velvet cake donut. Their pretzel donut was the best glazed donut i've ever had! The way that it was made makes it perfectly airy inside. The red velvet donut was good as well, though perhaps a bit too sweet. It would've been perfect if it was cream cheese frosting on top instead!

I don't even know what to say, really. Simply put, the best doughnuts...EVER! Bill's was ranked nationally in the Top 10 in a USA Today poll about 3 years ago. Sadly, I have taken them for granted because I have lived here my whole life. And now, they even take credit cards! Due to the obvious caloric impact, I try to limit my visits to a few times a year. But there are some mainstay flavors that are just simply worth a drive to try. The sour cream is an all time favorite. The butter twists are like nothing you have ever tasted. And I would be remiss if I didn't give a shout out to the blueberry doughnuts too. All are good but those 3 round out my list. This is THE perfect donut shop. It looks old-fashioned, feels old-fashioned, and the donuts are pretty much the Platonic ideal of donut-ness. Maybe they've been using the same magic oil for 50 years? Since moving away from Dayton/ towards Cincy (and getting pregnant) I've tried to scratch the donut itch at other places and I'm always disappointed. I repeat: disappointed. With donuts. How is that even possible? I can't even get donuts at the (distant) second place Tim Horton's, since there aren't any this far south. :( Extra Bill's bonus: A friend recently graduated from Sinclair and we went to Bill's after the ceremony to celebrate (with her still in her cap & gown). There was a guy, with his son, buying everyone's donuts!! That never happens at Krispy Kreme. Not only did we get a dozen heavenly, perfect donuts... some random stranger made our day :) read more

Hands down best donuts I have ever had. I am from Centerville, so I try and get these donuts every time I'm back in town. They are baked fresh every morning, are open 24 hours a day, and have great service and more importantly, awesome tasting donuts. Lots of variety of flavors too! Reasonable prices as well. read more

I ordered ahead on the phone the day before hoping to skip the 45 min line. When I went to pick up the order, I was told I still have to wait in line with all the customers placing an order just to pay for my order. This was frustrating but if it is there policy I guess I had to just accept it. Until 20 min later a man walked in, picked out his preordered boxes without waiting in line, paid, and left!!! Meanwhile I'm still in line. As a sales rep, time is money and customer service is upmost important. Unfortunately the taste of Bills donuts don't make up for the 45 min wait and selective policy. read more

Some of the best donuts I've ever had and I've sampled many in and outside the US. you can't go wrong with their red velvet (my favorite) or their sour cream. you really can't go wrong with any of there dessert selections. this place is always packed during the summer (at all times of day or night). you can always jump the line by calling in your order. I live near Cincinnati and I always stop here when seeing friends in the area. read more

Bill's is not only a place you have to visit while in Dayton, but a reason to go to Dayton in and of itself. A classic place with incomparable donuts. Yummy Yum Yum DONUTS!!! this place takes me back and still looks the way it did back when i was a kid going here. i absolutely love the atmosphere in this place. the workers are so friendly and fast as well. for about $7 you can get a bakers dozen of donuts which is 13, i love the fact they still do the bakers dozen.. you can't beat free extra donut. they are open 24hrs so even when i am on my way home after a night out i can stop by here and make the whole family happy in the morning and i don't get flak about being out late.... MMM mmm MMM! We have always been Dunkin' Donuts customers prior to moving to Dayton, and finding out about the legendary Bill's Donuts. We have been here so many times, and the donuts are ALWAYS delicious. I love supporting a local business. Plus, their prices are quite reasonable. One of the many great things about Bill's is that they are open 24/7! I've going painting at Raise Your Brush across the street and gotten done after 9pm; I love that I can swing by Bill's and pick up some donuts on the way home. The staff is always friendly, and they have a great selection of donuts. My personal favorite are the blueberry glazed donuts. Yum! Beats Dunkin' Donuts any day! read more

It's the most exciting place in Centerville. I love the strawberry doughnut. If you plan on going for a late night doughnut run go around 11 when the high schoolers are clearing out cause of their curfew and the police. Or you can laugh while watching them runaway and hide. read more

Oy the best donut place ever, and definitely an Ohio highlight. Waaaaaay more appealing than Krispy Kreme or doughnuts bought in stores. Not only are the doughnuts tasty, they're cheap! I can get a doughnut and a dozen doughnut holes for under five dollars! The staff is always friendly. Everything is fresh. It's wonderful, hope they never change. I've has friends from other states ask me to bring them Bill's when I come to visit.... And when they visit me, they always grab some to go back with them. read more

I ordered one dozen donuts. I paid almost 13 dollars in delivery charges with the DoorDash order. I was missing a large coffee when the delivery arrived. Somebody messed up big time! I will never order from this place again! It seems petty, but I don't pay 13 dollars extra for screw-ups! read more

Shockingly Delectable, sugar delight, stop in Dayton for some Bill's Donuts. Ranked in the top donut shops of our great nation, this place is open 24/7 with the exception of Christmas Day. There is a line every day. You can preorder and pick up your dozen on the fly. Classics like sugared, glazed, cream filled and crullers, all equally fabulous. We love Bills this is a staple in our house if we are out Saturday night..we swing by Bills so we have plenty for Sunday morning. This place is usually packed but the line moves quick. ..it's a combo teen hangout on the weekends too. It's open 24 hours and the parking is easy. Bills is nationally recognized for their donuts. I was introduced to it by my husband and in-laws. I remember being skeptical going into it since it was sketchy on the outside. I was pleasantly surprised at the large assortment of fresh donuts available at night. I was also surprised at how crowded it was at night. Service was always good and friendly. My favorites are the red velvet and blueberry donut. The donut holes are really good too. You also can't beat the price on the donuts. We always try to stop by when we go to IKEA or my in-laws. read more

I cannot say enough about this place. I have been here about five times since moving here a month ago and am quite honestly addicted to their cream horns. Great small place, friendly staff, and delicious donuts. Always a line but it moves quickly and efficiently. I am a huge fan of Holtmans donuts living in Cincinnati. Bill's Donuts might have moved into first place. The donuts are so fresh and you can't beat their prices. One dozen donuts and a large coffee will set you back $9.70. Take note Dunkin D. Depending on the time of day expect a line but it'll move fast. Not only are the donuts amazing but they do a ton for the community, disaster relief in other states, etc. Places like that will always get my money. Love this place. read more

I'll start with the good. The cream horns, are to die for! It's like biting into a cloud. It just flakes off into your mouth so perfectly, that you question if you even actually took a bite. The apple fritter. The perfect little crunch on the outside, and delicious apple and cinnamon on the inside. Their yeast donuts are huge! You can tell by the photos the clear size difference between the yeast and the cake. The cake donuts were also delicious! The fried sour cream donut was amazing! The not so good. Their glaze is a little heavy for my liking. I can't do the super sweet stuff, and this is a bit much for me. But that is completely personal preference. The fruity pebbles donut was a bit out of my wheelhouse, but I wanted to try it. Not good. The fruity pebbles are soggy, and somehow completely lost their taste. The glazed croissant was a bit of a letdown. It's one menu item that people rave about, and I thought it was just okay. Again, strictly personal preference. The really not so good. I like my cookies crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. But these cookies are hardly baked at all. I'm not a fan. I also ordered one each of M&Ms, Reese's, triple chocolate and oatmeal raisin. I requested a refund if any of these weren't available, (DoorDash order). Instead, they gave me two Reese's, and something that looks like a blueberry white chocolate chip. One of my donuts was completely smashed. I ordered a glazed twist, and was given an original glazed ring. I requested on DoorDash for them to contact me if anything was unavailable. Of course, they did not. Finally, I was charged additional $5.25 extra for the $18.50 dozen. I contacted the restaurant directly, and the woman who answered the phone explained to me that it was because I chose three specialty donuts, and I could only get two. I advised her that that's not what the menu says, and I read the menu directly to her. She then said that she just checked the menu herself, and I was wrong. So she puts me on hold and I hear her in the background talking to someone else. When she comes back to the phone, she then tells me that it's because I got filled donuts and they are also considered specialty donuts. That is not what the menu says at all. Neither the DoorDash menu, nor their website menu. I suggested that they look into that if they can, and she got snappy with me and said she would let her manager know. She told me that they were unable to adjust the price, and, of course, DoorDash wouldn't fix it either. My overall issue with this experience, is the poor customer service. Not calling me with changes to my order as I requested, and arguing with me over what the menu says, and then changing the story when they realized that I was right. I'm not writing this place off by any means, but I definitely won't be spending 40 bucks there again!

I recently moved here from Riverside, Ohio which made me happy that I didn't have to travel as far. You can smell freshly baked donuts in the parking lot... which gets you a little more excited. I was surprised to see a long line, considering it was at 8 pm but I guess this place is that good (to locals at least). There is a large selection to choose from, but none of them had signs so I had to keep asking what flavors they were. Ended up getting a red velvet cake donut and a butter twist. Easily some of the best donuts I've ever had. 24hrs and there is always people there ready to buy. Their pretzel donuts are an intrinsic part of my childhood and the apple fritters are to die for. I didn't realize how spoiled I was till I moved away and kept being disappointed by donuts elsewhere. The price reasonable too for such great donuts. My mom got donuts there one time and had a accident and fell hitting her head which knocked her out. Long line out the door and the staff didn't care at all. They prioritized door dash and catering orders over the customers in the long line.
