This a hole-in-the-wall donut shop that largely sticks to the classics and does them extremely well. It's about as big as a minute, with just a couple seats--it's probably best to order to go. On a Saturday morning, we found the cases crammed with offerings, with more on trays in the wall behind the counter. A small case atop the counter had cupcakes. We ordered a dozen donuts. I selected a braided glazed donut and a blueberry cake donut. Both were fantastic, but that blueberry donut was especially good.

10/10 must recommend, the environment is so friendly and warming, service is the most excellent any donut place could offer. Would offer 6 stars if I could, I love you Stan

This is a nostalgic local donut shop. There is adequate parking available in the shop's private lot. Be careful heading there though, they had some of those traffic cameras up on the road leading to the shop. They have cake and yeast donuts. There is also a few seats at the counter that patrons can sit and enjoy their treats. The shop has some very reasonable prices and a decent selection. I saw the pretzel donut and was like "yes, please". I had to get two of them. I also got a frosted donut with sprinkles, a pineapple thing, lemon filled, and maple bacon. The donuts were pretty good. The littles and I went through them like a hot knife through butter. The shop has it regulars and the staff is ok. They are not rude, but not very friendly either. They do their job, which I am cool with. This shop consistently finishes in the top 3 of the Best of Dayton, Donuts, and for good reason. This shop is on the better end of local Dayton donut shops and worth a stop in.

Decided to try these local donuts after our 2hr walk at US air-force museum . By the time entered we they ran out of lot of donuts, I got the peanut cinammon donut and a drip which costed me $3. Donut was good and huge and it was not expensive. Friendly staff Ample free parking Bar kind of seating to sip coffee and munch your donut.

Donuts were good. Very sweet. Place is super unprofessional though. Staff was behind the counters gossiping and using foul language in front of me and my 4 year old. Haven't gone back since.

    Donuts for days!

Donuts were phenomenal! Aside from that, want to give a shout out to Cooper. Awesome service and very sweet!

Best donuts in Dayton. Only negative would be the selections. Needs more variety. But we stop there once a month.

The fritter was gooey, the maple bacon tasted like a dog treat because it had that fake bacon on top. You are better off going to the worst Tim Hortons you can find. And there water bottles smells like BO for some reason. This was my last time going there. Jim's is very over hyped.

Appeals to all of your senses. First, smell: You walk in and are surrounded by the aroma of warm sugar and pastry dough. Second, sight: Wire baskets holding different varieties of pastries made in the back of the store and those bakery boxes awaiting your fill. Thr options are plentiful, bordering on overwhelming. But, you won't mind. Third, sound: you hear the light rustle of the tissue paper as your server plucks your selections for your bag or box. Eventually, you either get to feel the heft of your selections or you taste the first bite of your fresh doughnut. The website has some photos... and a full menu with the names. Standard or fancy... or apple fritters (totally understand that beauty getting its own category) ... sold each or by the dozen. The doughnuts are fluffy and fresh. Even if you catch them with lower inventory or less selections - there's no such thing as a bad doughnut from Jim's so you'll still feel lucky.

Val's Bakery - Raspberry matcha croissant and strawberry Matcha latte

My sisters and I went to Vals bakery for breakfast on a recent birthday trip. We heard great things…read moreabout the bakery, and I had it on my bucket list for quite a while. I was even more drawn in by the fact that they specialize in Matcha drinks. I think we ordered about 1/3 of the desserts in the display case. One of my sisters is gluten-free, so she got a gluten-free cinnamon roll from a bakery they they partner with to supply their gluten-free desserts. I forgot to take a photo of the name cards, so I don't remember exactly what everything was called. We tried the raspberry Matcha croissant, the cozy croissant, a honey croissant cookie (basically a cookie made of croissant dough), a cinnamon roll, focaccia, a strawberry mascarpone croissant, a Caprese danish type pastry, a garlic cream cheese danish type pastry, a banana bread iced chai latte, and a strawberry Matcha latte. The pastries were all 10/5 stars-- truly. The Caprese one was topped with the best pesto Ive ever had. The garlic cream cheese one could be eaten for breakfast every day. The loxxy croissant was stuffed with smoked salmon and cream cheese and was so tasty that my sister who doesn't eat seafood, liked it and said she could eat a whole one herself. Everything bagel seasoning created a crunch on top that was just perfect. The strawberry mascarpone was a personal favorite for me. It just was so perfectly executed and the flavors we're all on point. It had strawberry cheesecake vibes, but the filling was lighter since it was mascarpone. The raspberry Matcha croissant was actually one of my least favorite items, though I did still really like it. It seemed like it was filled with both blackberries and raspberries, but I didn't mind. It was just significantly sweeter than the other desserts and maybe a bit much for me. However, I finished it the next day and really enjoyed every last piece of sugar. I'm thinking maybe in contrast to the other items, I just wasn't liking this one as much, but when it was standing on its own, it was great! The cinnamon roll was everything a cinnamon roll should be! It was even better because they warmed it up for us. The honey croissant cookie was simple and satisfying. I would eat those anytime. Sometimes it's nice to just enjoy a more simple dessert. The focaccia was some of the best any of us had ever had. I tried my sister's chai and thought it was really good, albeit too sweet for me to have ordered myself . Sadly my Matcha was too sweet as well, so I'm not sure I would order another. I was disappointed about that part since it's something the bakery is known for. The outside and inside of the bakery are both really cute! Everything is decorated nicely. They sell a little bit of boutique style clothing and some branded goods near the front. The staff taking our order were honestly not the friendliest, but I will chock that up to us being annoying, taking too long to decide which 10 items we wanted. We let everyone who came in after us go before us, but I'm sure we were still annoying. The staff who took over later in our visit when we went back up to order even more drinks and pastries were very friendly! Overall, a fantastic visit. I am sad to not live closer, but actually that's probably a good thing for my wallet and pant size. If you are in Dayton and considering a visit to Val's bakery, do it. Truly, no way you will regret it!

Fresh Pastries & Great Atmosphere! This is such a cute…read morelittle shop! The staff was incredibly friendly, and there is plenty of space inside to sit down and relax. The food and drinks definitely lived up to the hype: * Coffee: Solid - I had a regular latte (breve) with an extra shot. * Caprese Croissant: Absolutely delicious. You can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients. * Matcha Croissant: The matcha itself was overly sweet which is part of the outer coat of the croissant. The inside was filled with cream and jam that balanced perfectly--you could actually taste the fruit and cream without it being overly sweet. A quick note on sweetness: I don't typically eat a lot of sweets. If you have a major sweet tooth, you'll definitely enjoy these.
