Our city is so lucky to have a community theater group of such a high caliber as Billings Studio Theater. I have attended a number of their productions over the last four years; and while I can't say that I liked every one of them, all were presented with the greatest of sincerity and dedication of both cast and production team.
Last night I attended Billings Studio's production of "The Drowsy Chaperone". To say that I was "wowed" would be understating my feelings. The quality of this production is far above what is usually expected in a city the size of Billings. The cast is uniformly superb. Special mention must be made of Vint Lavender's performance as The Man in the Chair. Humor, pathos, and ultimately great sadness are all part of this complex character, obviously a gay man who never made it out of the closet, and who is now alone with only his showtunes and a vivid imagination for company.
I cannot urge theater goers strongly enough to get out and see this play before it goes away. It is, simply, too good to miss. read more
