Beautiful KOA with lots of fun things to do! The kids loved the mini golf course - actually the best we've seen so far on this trip. The bathrooms / showers were the best. When I checked in at dark, me and my son went to our cabin. Went I got to the door, the porch light and inside light were on. There were many moths swarming the porchlight, which I get it! However, when looking at the curtain inside I notice about another dozen moths inside. I didn't want to alarm him about it, so we opened the door, to find dozens more swarming the light on the inside front room and the back room. I went to the office to ask about checking another cabin as the one next to us was empty, as well as one three cabins down, as I just wanted to go to sleep. The lady at the front desk answered "Yeaaaaaah! That's a common occurrence!" And then she just looked at me as if to say no effort was going to be made on KOA's part except basically making me feel like I just had to deal with it. Me and my son went back to the cabin, as it was getting late...and I just wanted to get some sleep for the night.....but instead, spent almost 2 hours killing moths. I shut off the back room with the light on so the majority would stay back there and continued to get ready for sleep. In the morning at checkout, another lady at the desk ask "so how was your stay?" I informed her I stated my concerns last night and nothing seemed to matter so what's the point. She asked what concerns I had the night before. I explained the moths to her. If it's a 'common occurrence', then maybe they could have done something to mitigate the moths literally swarming inside the cabin She took down notes and said "I'll let management know" If my overall impression was strictly based on this experience, I would never stay at a KOA nor would I refer anyone to. I had stayed at St. Mary in Glacier the night before, and the cabins were immaculate. In the morning the other 2 cabins near me were still vacant. I am sure if KOA even answers they will have some defense as to why this occurred, but I know because of this NOONE I know will get referred, and I will not return through that route to stay in Billings. The only saving grace was the wholehog burger trailer near the office. While we waited for the food it gave me and my son a chance to get ready the night based on our already crummy introduction to KOA Billings. read more

Well maintained and nice campground. There is a pool, mini golf and a dog area, nice owners and stuff. We stayed just one night, and slept well until the train noise woke us at around 5 a.m. Space is good for a spot almost downtown. We would definitely stay again. read more

We were expecting a clean campsite, but when we arrived, there was trash, cigarette butts, coffee cups , dog poop and beer cans strewn around. I was not happy about cleaning up other peoples garbage, but did, set up my tent and took my grandson to the swimming pool. It was a madhouse with kids diving ( despite the signs) jumping and yes, vomiting in the pool. When that happened, I pulled my grandson out. When I went in two hours later to get ice, it hadn't been reported. I felt like I was in a very bad episode if campers gone crazy. There was one bathroom with three stalls and three very dirty showers. Thank God 90% if the campers are RV's. I had camper envy! No fires were allowed due to a high fire danger (understandable). The next morning, I went into the office to tell them about our dirty campsite and to try to wrangle ourselves out of the paid for return visit in two weeks. The girl at the counter turned around to the maintenance guy and said snarky "well good morning to you" and rolled her eyes. No apologies, no offer to reduce our fee, nothing! We spent the next two days at a national forest campground (many pines in Niehart) that was 100% cleaner, 100% nicer and only cost $5 a night. We are on our way to another KOA in another part if Montana. I'm scared!. read more

Except for the africanized honey bees next to my rig in the tree next to me this place is pretty awesome. They have a BBQ tent and cream every night. Customer service is ok bad the store has beer and wine. Also apparently it's the first KOA ever! read more

Things were nothing like the poor review below! This place is awesome! We're tent campers that prefer deep woods but it was getting late and we couldn't make it to the state park further West. We ended up camping here and it was a great experience. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, the restrooms were spotless, it's pet friendly and the camp was quiet and remained so all night. Their convenience store is stocked, with a whole selection of wine and beer as well - perfect after being on the road all day. This seems to be a perfect place to bring children as it's a safe enclosed area and they have mini-golf, basketball, a pool, a jacuzzi, and an arcade! We regretted pulling in so late as this all closes at 10pm so we couldn't enjoy everything. It's more of a community than individual camping areas so prepare to be near your neighbors (though we lucked out with some empty sites next to us). Overall, we were really happy with our brief stay. read more

Clean facilities and nice lots. They ya e a playground for the kids and even a small, but functional, dog park for the four legged family members. They have access to the Yellowstone River to the East if the campus. Clean bathrooms and showers are available as well. We had a back in full hookup site which worked great for us. The really nice thing is that they have two access spots per plot for sewer, depending on where your rig has the port located. Also makes it nice to have your black water and gray water both hooked up to sewer at the same time without either Y-Ing in to each other or having to send the gray water into your black water to dump. Either way, this is a nice camp with very accommodating staff. We would definitely stay again in the future. read more

I have stayed at the Billings KOA many times over the course of the past 10 years - both in a tent and in the cabins. Overall, this is a good spot for being in the city. The campground is surprisingly quiet for its location on the edge of Billings (which is not very quiet). The staff here have always been friendly enough. The grounds are very well maintained and are kept clean. The bathrooms are suprisingly clean for campground bathrooms. The stalls, sinks, and showers are adequate most of the time, but it does get crowded during peak usage. This is not the cheapest campground I have ever stayed at, but if you need to stay in Billings this is a good, clean, safe campground. read more

camp ground was very dirty. I know it's camping but, the cotton trees were all over. The pool was filled with cotton, it was filthy. The restrooms were always dirty, no matter what time of day you went. They had plenty of them but they were always dirty. Be sure to wear flip flops in the shower. Only full hook were on one side, and they only let the BIG motor homes in there. They have a lake there and if you were unlucky enough to be put by it you were eaten alive by mosquitoes , and then there were the geese that had the run of the place so be careful where you walk. For a KOA campground and they brag it is the first one, they charge way too much to stay there. They brag that they have a mini golf course, well they charge you $10 to play. I give this camp ground one star. read more

When we stayed there, we found the campsite to be clean. This KOA has "family bathrooms." Which means the sink, shower and toilet are in one room. For those of us that tent camp this is a huge plus. No more brushing your teeth next to a guy who is blowing snot rockets in the sink next to you. Another plus is the BBQ restaurant on site. Although it is a bit on the expensive side, it is nice to have in case you don't want to cook or get in your car and drive somewhere. The tent sites has trees and grass. Also the campsite backs up to a river. My kids said that this KOA had the fastest internet. I would definitely stay at this KOA again. I found the tent sites to be spacious unlike some other KOA campgrounds. read more

This KOA is billed as the 1st KOA in America. I believe it. The big rig pull through sites are the size of a '58 Chevy with a tear drop trailer. Two years ago we stayed at the Good Sam's next door and had tons more room. If you want mini-golf, a BBQ walk up, and pancakes (you purchase). This is your place. read more

Staff unprofessional and unfriendly- barely would acknowledge you are there. Many people not wearing masks and using swimming pool nos mini golf even if it is mandatory to use mask. Got extra charged. No one answer if you are trying to contact them. Bathrooms and laundry room are clean so two thumbs up here! read more

We only stayed one night here on our way towards glacier national Park. The site was easy to pull into and plenty long for the truck and trailer so we did not have to unhook, the setting is very pretty next to the river. However, unlike most KOA's they charged per person for playing miniature golf, and many of the other activities listed on their website. Also, when I inquired some of the local staff about the best route of travel for the next day they were not very helpful. I've been to several KOA's around the country and this is definitely towards the top of the list. When you enter you can tell immediately how nice it is; although, it is a little urban with the trimmed lawns, but nonetheless a great and clean place to stay. We currently have a spot near the back end of the park and it's perfect for us and our dog. They even have little personal chair swings! How cool is that! The only reason I rated this 4/5 is because certain lots do not have a hookup for black/gray water. If you want that, you'd have to go further towards the entrance which isn't as pretty- but still very nice. read more

This is a doozy of a campground along the banks of a beautiful river. You'll see the finest RV's here alongside your mom-and-pop-toodling-along-the-road RV's. It's the first KOA, and they take great pride in that. The bathrooms here are GORGEOUS with slate floors and Corian countertops. We were camping in style on our second-to-last stop of our one-way cross-country trip. We'd head back to Billings to this KOA anytime! read more

This was one of our favorite KOA's on this years summer trip. Lots of kid things to do and very pleasant place! Cool bikes to ride, miniature golf, big pool, ice cream and a great gift shop! There was ample spots for any kind of traveler plus kabins. We don't always take our RV so we look for these things. It was nestles back by a river and had its own pond. The kids who were working this place were pretty nice and liked to have a little conversation, which is great! We will come back to this KOA on our next trip across the states. read more

This place served just to many people. The bathroom was filthy most of the time and it only had 3 showers and 3 bathroom stalls. I was afraid to get foot fungus so wore flip flops in the shower. Then people kept pooring into the campground even after midnight. It was very difficult to get any sleep. There were so many bikers and their motorcycles were so loud it made it that much worse. Then to top it off people were smoking pot near us and my children were wondering what the funny smell was. The office closes at 8pm so you cannot complain to anyone about anything..... Then it is so close to the highway so you hear truck traffic all night.....Oh yeah the FREE MINI GOLF isn't free you have to "rent" a club and ball. This may have been the first KOA in the country but it will probably be the last KOA I ever go to!!!!!!! read more

This campground was pretty good - the only thing I wished for were more trees at the site. In the morning I woke up super hot because our tent was just totally exposed to the hot sun. It was quiet though, which was nice. Except for the guy in the next site pitching his tent at 1 am, of course. Why do people have to do that? The site was a little strangely laid out - it seemed that the gravel for the car took up a lot of space, and then the area for the tent was on a bit of a slant, but it worked out fine in the end. The showers were really nice, way nicer than I would expect for a campground. There's also a restaurant on site, which would be nice if you were tired and didn't want to leave to have a good dinner. At least I'm assuming it's good, we didn't eat there. I guess I shouldn't assume that. So, bathrooms, site...other than that I bought some ice at the store, which was $2, and that's about all we used. I'm not sure why it was more expensive (by $10 at least) than that KOA in Bismarck, because it wasn't quite as nice, but overall it was just fine. It was quieter than the one in Bismarck, which is why it gets an extra star, because that's really important to me. read more

Beautiful campground and meticulous maintained. Trials to the Yellowstone river. A great mini golf course. I only wish they would spend people out more when the park is pretty empty. They just put everyone right next to each other as they check in. While there are tons of open spots. And with the amount of average they have they could put in a nice large off leash dog run. While there are things that aren't perfect about this place, it's a rustic campground and not a 5-star resort. There are essentially two lodges where they have to keep things at a hotel-level and I would say that that's not the primary focus of a campground. We stayed with my mother and sister and nephew over this past 4th of July weekend in Lodge 2. The lodges are comfy and well-appointed. We loved the mini-golf, the pool and the big lawn that the kids played on in front of the lodge. The lodge sofa bed even has an air over coil mattress so it was really comfy--which was...unexpected. While there were 1 or 2 issues; a previous camper leaving a dessicated powdered-sugar donut in the bunkbed (saving it for later?) and the power went out, housekeeping and maintenance were extremely responsive and made those things right within minutes. The service here was exceptional. Here's where my review turns into high praise. My daughter got gastroenteritis the night before the 4th. I don't know where or how she got it but it was a nightmare and my sister left with her son, my mom and my other daughter the morning after my sick daughter was up all night in the bathroom so as to avoid passing the illness around.We stayed one more night. When it was time to go she was still not keeping it together and we had to travel back to California. The front desk guy, Rich was so sympathetic and it felt like I had a friend when I was left alone to deal with a heinous situation. The problem was, I wasn't sure she could be in the car without having an accident. I couldn't leave my 8-year-old alone with an unstable stomach, nor could I take her to the store. Rich went out and got me the big-kid nighttime pullups and some garbage bags and saw my sad face and gave me a hug. You don't have to be the Ritz to be classy or customer-service focused. Rich's service and compassion far exceeded what anyone would expect from a KOA. I am so grateful for his help and the great service of all of the other staff. Billings KOA is doing something very right and if this is the standard that we can expect at a KOA campground we are very much looking forward to exploring other KOAs. read more

The nicest KOA I've ever stayed at. Wonderful campground. Over 150 spots including pull throughs, camp sites, cabins on site. Hot tub and pool right next to the Yellowstone River. They have mini golf, a fire pit, a game room, basketball court and 2 playgrounds for the kids! They've got it all. And free high speed internet & cable TV! The entire office staff was super friendly and very helpful and knowledgable. They do accept pets! Clean, open spaces with grass and tables. Extremely clean bathrooms and showers. I highly recommend staying at this KOA. Plus, it was the first one ever established. read more

Very nice KOA. Extremely well manicured grounds, almost to the extreme. A constant theme of golf carts & mowers racing around at break neck speed. Amazing no injuries have occurred. Blowers, weed eaters going from 8-5. Never seen so much watering of grass in my entire life! No wonder they need to live on the zero-turns. read more

The Billings KOA is very nice but there are very high curbs around the grass areas between the sites. It makes turning RVs out of the spots difficult unless you can drive thru the site across the drive path. We are running a 32 ft motorhome and towing. The restrooms are clean the good hot water in showers but they are small and weird shaped. We were there on the off season so the place was quite and pool was not open. We will stay again on an overnighter. The people were very nice. read more

We travel to Montana from Arizona and back every year. This year we went through Denver and up. This place is as good as it gets for full service camping in Montana. Since you can camp virtually anywhere in Montana, the existance of this type of RV park is next to non-existant. Most RV parks are dumpy, run down and loaded with full timers. This is a nicely groomed park with nice amenities. We travel in a 60' rig and 5th wheel with 2 slides and the spaces suited us just fine. We will stay here again. read more

Don't stay here during peak travel season if you want any rest! Our first time here when the campground was less busy was great. We were looking forward to coming back. We paid $88 per night to stay here Memorial Day weekend. I asked for a quiet spot because I have an infant who goes to bed before 8. They put us right across from the park, right next to where they load the firewood into trucks (so loud I thought there were fireworks going off) & right by the garbage cans. It's definitely the noisiest spot in the park. Thanks guys! People are walking through our site all the time to go to the park & the workers were planting new plants on our site during dinnertime (isn't there a better time to do planting than Memorial Day weekend?) which made our picnic table unavailable & made bring outside our trailer at all super awkward. They were smoking too & it all went into our trailer for our baby to breathe in. We couldn't wait to leave read more
