I am a new-ish small business owner in Portland, Oregon. My partner and I were working out getting…read morea state liquor license to be able to add "sip and paint" workshops to our art studio. The process for this is long and a little complicated (to me, at least), with lots of moving parts, and I got stuck dead in the water on getting insurance for alcohol service. I sent emails and made phone calls to MANY companies - some said they didn't carry this type of policy, others didn't even return my calls or emails. Finally the day before the deadline which would cost me all the time, money and effort I'd put into this licensing process, I contacted the Hart Insurance office in Grants Pass, Oregon and they immediately responded. Within about an hour they found me a policy, got it approved and got me proof of insurance. I sent that in and then was told I needed another type of form proving the insurance. I sent an email to Hart Insurance this morning and had that form within just minutes. Without all their help, I wouldn't get this license, I'd have to start over and pay more fees that I can't afford, and lose more of my scant supply of marbles. Thank you so much to the employees of Hart who made this happen for me and gave me great service, Don Watson and Nick Barlow.

When I was younger, I saw life in black and white: work, sleep, and hand over money to my insurance…read morecompany like some sort of mildly resentful subscription service I couldn't cancel. I didn't ask questions. I didn't expect joy. I certainly didn't expect...feelings. Then I found Insurance Services of Southern Oregon, and everything changed. Over the years, I've called them with all kinds of questions, ranging from reasonable to "I probably should have thought this through before buying this vehicle." Every time, they've responded with patience, clarity, and a level of friendliness that makes me suspicious they might actually enjoy helping people. In insurance. For the past few years, I've worked with Wendy Schwartz, who I can only assume has achieved some sort of insurance enlightenment after decades in the field. Not only does she know everything, she also casually finds ways to save you money like it's a fun side quest. Most recently, she suggested a tiny adjustment to my policy that barely changed my coverage--but somehow reduced my premium by 20%. Twenty. Percent. At first, I assumed this was a test. Or a trap. I briefly considered that I had entered some kind of hidden-camera show where they see how people react to unexpected financial relief. I checked my policy. I checked it again. I may have stared out the window for a while, just processing. But no--it was real. Just good advice from someone who actually knows what they're doing and isn't trying to squeeze every last dollar out of you. And then there's Greg Norby, who--along with Wendy--helps create an environment where you feel less like a policy number and more like an actual human being. It's unsettling at first, but you get used to it. Look, no one likes paying for insurance. If someone says they do, they're either lying, confused, or have reached a level of inner peace I can only aspire to. But working with this team? It's about as close as you're going to get. I've been a customer for years now, and at this point, leaving would feel like breaking up with someone who actually texts back, gives good advice, and saves you money. So yes--thanks to Insurance Services of Southern Oregon, I now see life in color. It's still life... but now it's slightly more affordable, significantly less confusing, and--against all odds--occasionally enjoyable.

Too bad about this place. The owner is retiring, and she doesn't understand the difference between…read morea business relationship and personal friendship. She is leaving a very weak whiney staff. After 11 years I have left and do not recommend anyone else going there. Her son is there, and he is very weak as well. They will try and push you into a product that they get good fees on renewals regardless of if it is good for you. They are not creative and seem to be full of negativity. NOT something you want in an insurance agent. They have a medical insurance person there that is amazing, and I will miss her, but I can't take the negative attitude in the office and the total lack of comprehension for the customers need. An office of idiots. Sad.
