Bill Sheild's roofing company was repairing my next-door neighbors roof. They happened to see that some of our shingles were off from a storm that came through a couple of months ago. The gentleman came over and told my brother that he would put them back on for us at no charge! I don't know about anyone else, but that blew me away as I think it's very rare that a company would do something like that! I can tell you that when we do need our roof replaced I will be calling them to do it! What a great way to do and get business! read more

The first thing this company does is relieve you from the stress and anxiety of being scammed. They are THE most professional company from top to bottom. They do whatever you need, within your budget if possible, and they do it WELL. THANK YOU!!! read more

Highly recommend Bill Shields Roofing. They are honest, prompt, and provide excellent service from beginning to end. Good communication and a company you can trust. Family-owned business. I've had two different homes reroofed using them in the last 30+ years. read more

We have used Bill Shields Roofing on two previous projects and they are simply the best!!! Their prices aren't the cheapest, but the attention to detail and high quality craftsmanship is worth the price. We used Bill Shields to repair our flat roof and repair a hole in our front porch overhang. Both projects were completed quicker than expected and the price was extremely fair. We recently had roof damage during hurricane Milton and my first call was to Bill Shields Roofing. I imagine it will be a long wait since so many other homes were damaged during the hurricane, but I would not trust the roof over my head to be touched by any other company in Tampa. read more

I have used Bill Shields Roofing on two new roofs at my home. The first was in 1988 and the second in 2012. I have been very satisfied with the quality / workmanship on both jobs. Recently Hurricane Milton blew through Tampa. I have many large Oak Trees on my property. A limb broke and punctured my roof. The hole was large enough to demand immediate attention before rain started. Bill Shields was the only roofer I called. I got on the "list" of clients needing repair. I was very nervous about rain intrusion before repair, but within 2 weeks The 2 man crew consisting of Eduardo and helper arrived and professionally repaired the damaged area. I am very happy with Bill Shields Roofing and would recommend the company with no reservations. read more

This roofing company worked on my neighbor's roof and left dozens of these nails in my yard. I have small dogs and I asked if they were going to clean up all the nails flying off of the roof into my yard. They never did it. This is extremely reckless and dangerous, and it would have been a huge liability had my children or pets been injured by their nails flying off of the roof and negligently left all over my lawn. read more

What a joke. Called for an estimate, waited, patiently, for three weeks, called them back. They told me I could get the price the next day. Called the next day because I did not hear from them and I was told that they promise to have it the next day. Today I called, somewhat frustrated with the process and I had to hear the office manager tell me..." If I am so disappointed with the company, already, go get a price somewhere else". Great customer service. Fantastic! So, don't call them, they cannot service you. I am waiting to speak with the owner. There are a few ladies there, in that office, who are not as rude as the office manager and they tried to help me, but, I guess they have enough work and do not need any more. The only reason I called them to begin with was that they were already in the same complex and I figured I could give them another roof in the same complex. One month later, no estimate. I guess I should have read the Google reviews that say that this is what they do and how they operate. The owner does not listen to complaints, but instead, hands them over to the office manager to handle and she does not do a good job at all. Nobody here cares, nobody wants to hear what you have to say about Shields Roofing. Just pay us and beat it. I AM A SEASONED CONTRACTOR, SINCE 1994 and 20 years with other construction company's before I went on my own, and I can tell you, this is not how this is suppose to work. Bad company, bad company philosophy, and zero remorse. There are tons of roofing companies out there, try someone who cares. read more

Established company that knows what they are doing and also honest. Workers on-site like Ozzie were very professional and polite. They handled the repairs quickly and didn't leave a mess. Been using them for many years. Always satisfied with their work. read more

Literally the rudest company I have ever run into. Never met expectations. Refused to return calls. And when, 5 months after they promised a roof they were ready and called, they hung up on me when I explained I couldn't get a call back from their office. The apple has fallen far from the tree. The worst of ten worst here. read more

Bill Shields Roofing is by far the best Roofing Co in Tampa. I've used them for 40 years and have always received great service and no one does a more quality job than they do. The bottom line is if you want a roofing job that will last and one that the company will stand behind then use Bill Shields. There are a lot of fly by night people in this business, make sure you choose someone you can trust and that would be Shields H L read more

I called for a quote and the estimator came the next day. He actually went up and walked the roof and took photos rather than rely on aerial photos. The price was competitive with 2 other quotes so I opted to use this established Tampa business. They worked quickly and efficiently and my new roof looks fantastic. read more

My family has resided in Tampa since 1951. At the time, Bill Shields Roofing was the best residential roofer in Tampa. Bill Shields Sr. and his son Bill were an absolute pleasure. Mr Shields patched my roof free of charge with the understanding that he would return to re-roof my home at his very first opportunity. Although I had to be patient, the roof was completed per our agreement after 9 weeks. I was so grateful that I waited. I understand that cost cutting measures by new ownership have drastically affected the final outcome and the experience in general. Having lived in Tampa for so long and thus witnessing the changes that have taken place within this company, I would never recommend this roofer to ANYONE. I was so disappointed when I called as not only was the secretary extremely rude it was made obvious that my past experience was just that. I spoke to Doug Shields the new owner assuming the interaction would be made right as it would have by his father. I have never been spoken to with such condescending arrogance. Doug's comments mirrored the secretary with respect to the business's past ownership. Although I hoped that I would get to speak to Bill, I was unable to finish my sentence before I was informed that Bill no longer had ownership nor any affiliation with the business at all. Having said that, I would absolutely NEVER recommend this company to anyone. If this is how Doug Shields treats an old timer and repeat customer I can only imagine the services and treatment that would be rendered now. read more

We used Bill Shields Roofing to put a new roof on a house. After Hurricane Irma, some(8-9) tiles were broken due to broken tree limbs. They gave me an estimate to replace the broken tiles of $2885.00. The entire new roof was only approximately $10,000 three years ago! I called another roofing company with a 4+star Yelp rating for an estimate. After inspection, the estimate (with the identical work description) was $950.00. Nuff said..... read more

I had Bill Shields Roofing do my roof a few years ago--had to wait to post until my warranty was up--in the event I needed it and could even depend on them to honor it. I had a total roofing job done, including the replacement of the majority of the plywood. Doug Shields, after quoting the price, personally told me that if I needed more than a few sheets of plywood replaced he would discount the price from the high $80 quote per piece. I needed 21 new sheets of plywood! During the job, one of the workers stepped through two areas of my home. In my master bedroom, what started out to be about a 2 x 3 foot repair ended up being about a 6 x 8 foot repair due to them trying over and over to get it right. Almost daily, rather than having an experienced drywall company/person do the repair, the roofing supervisor would show up unannounced to do a little work. He would apply some drywall or popcorn and leave, and I would see him a day or two later. He would leave brown paper on my walls until he returned, unless I took it down. This went on for at least 6 WEEKS AFTER the roofing job was completed. At one point they hired an individual to attempt the repair--this young guy went to Home Depot to buy ONE can of spray popcorn repair at a time--he did this THREE times, buying one can and going back to buy one more--each time he would be gone for an hour. He couldn't get the repair done correctly, so they resumed sending the supervisor to work on it. So yes, SIX WEEKS of no-notice visits and disruptions to my living space and they still could not get the repair done. They wore me down and I finally got tired of the near daily visits by their supervisor, and accepted the job, in which I still have 1/4 of my bedroom ceiling not matching the rest. When I called to explain the situation to DOUG SHIELDS and asked him if he could at least give me a break on the price of the 21 sheets of $80 plywood as he had said he would--his comment, in a nutshell, was that the job was a bit more than he had anticipated and that the final price was as written in the contract. I heard this company was really good at one time, but they apparently have more business than they need and their lack of customer service definitely shows it. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

Doug Shields and his team were great to work with! They did a excellent job on fully replacing our roof. Because of their attention to detail and thorough job I will only call them them if we need help at our new house. I would highly recommend this company if you need a new roof or any repairs done!!! read more

Mr. Shields and his crew were very respectful and a pleasure to deal with. The completion on my new roof took longer than expected but it looks like they did a very good job. The roof is only 3 months old. I got 3 quotes and the prices were all competitive. read more
