I'm not in construction, but am a better contractor than he is!! The price quoted seemed reasonable but the responsiveness and service provided was atrocious! I realize there is lead time in ordering materials, but had I not continued to hound Marlon I don't think the job would have ever happened! When the job did occur, it was all screwed up! We were getting replacement French Doors installed. First of all, we had to provide final payment before Marlon would allow his guys to even start the job. The check I gave Marlon was cashed before the guys were even done. We both work from home, so I guess we should've supervised the job, but we were paying for the job so we shouldn't have to supervise it, right? Well, the guys leave and then we check out the doors to find out they were installed backwards. Swing-out doors with internal blinds were installed as swing-in doors so the blind controls ended up on the outside of the house! After about three weeks of hounding, Marlon, he finally sent his guys back out to check it out. Did they fix the doors? NO!! They continued to insist that they were installed correctly and left. I ended up having to hire somebody else to turn the doors around and pay them to do it so now the reasonable quote was no longer reasonable! I told Marlon about it, and he promised he would repay me for the door re-install. After 2 months of asking and reminding him he never did so here is his review. Never ever hire Tricolor Flooring or you may end up with Marlon and you will regret it.

i was not too optimistic on the lifespan of my totally flat roof and it was just a matter of time when would there be a failure or a leak? Nothing is cheap about replacing a roof. I contacted a number of roofing companies and some showed, inspected the roof and provided a replacement cost which was astronomical...cost have skyrocketed the last year and half. Others came out but there was no follow up. In addition i have a roof mounted AC unit with duct work which would have been another $ 4-6K to remove and reinstall plus the aggravation of coordinating two projects. I was not looking forward to managing two projects. Dakota was one of the roofing contractors contacted. He responded promptly to the initial phone cal and made a number of trips to inspect in an effort to explore all options In order to lessen the impact to my back pocket. One of the options was applying a silicone coating which was about 50% less than a roof replacement. He brought the coating rep to inspect the job and i had lots of question and between Dakota and the coating rep i was convinced this was the best way to get the most value for money spent. Another factor which was driving the urgency was that we were soon to be departing out of the country. Dakota was able to put us on the front burner which was a big relief. The applications crew was well experienced, did a great job answering lots of questions. I appreciate Dakota's involvement from start to finish and all points in between. Recently, I contacted Compass Roofing Services to repair a leak that had started on our 2nd story. Compass Roofing was onsite the next day to address the issue. After locating the issue, they sent a proposal over the same day with a fair price. We signed the proposal and Compass got us scheduled that week and completed the work! In any event, warranty or not I think the images and the fact that multiple areas of water intrusion are occurring within two years of installation speaks clearly about the craftsmanship provided by this company. Perhaps they sent the "B Team" because they knew the house was on the market when they installed the roof and they would wash their hands of the lack of quality upon sale? Pretty wild. And just for the record, I'm a lifelong Florida resident who is quite aware of the weather the roof has been exposed to. Absolutely no weather-related damage occurred...these were installation defects as pictured. Wind and rain didn't leave a litany of exposed nails. That's craftsmanship, or more accurately lack of craftsmanship that has been compounded by lack of accountability. You're correct though, Nobody wants to work for free. That's why people strive to provide quality the first time and if a mistake or oversight occurs, they make good on their obligation to provide a quality product. Your family owned business is harmed not by 1 star reviews. It is harmed by 2 year old roofs you install springing multiple leaks. And I haven't taken the time to leave this review with the hope you'd make good on your obligation. I'm writing this so families are aware when spending 10's of thousands of dollars that they can reasonably expect two problem free years before multiple areas begin leaking. Maybe they'll even be lucky and the warranty expectation will be honored and they'll get to play whack-a-mole with roof repairs until they give up and pay 10s of thousands of dollars more for a complete reroof. What a headache. If you see a red truck, you may just be outta luck. Read the (up until this point nonexistent) fine print!

I am so happy that I made the decision to get this repair done now. We're just a few weeks from storm season here in Florida, and the damage around our chimney was extensive. The work extended to actually repairing rotten decking and below that, the actual rafter frames needed to be sistered with new wood to restore it to a secure set of rafters. The men were efficient and workmanlike, breaking only for lunch and one run to the lumberyard to get more wood, and another sheet of steel. Other than that, the Gage had made a good estimate and most of the materials were ready for the work. We are now considering a full roof replacement due to new understanding about the poor quality of the initial roof installation. I recommend A3. I invited them to bid the replacement, although I have not yet heard what the final amount would be.
