I sat and read all the reviews but there was something about this company that felt right to me. I called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Ruslan came out. I found him to be very warm and professional. We did a walk through and within days i was sent an estimate. After reviewing the estimate, i decided to go with them and signed a contract. The first day on the job they showed up on time and was ready to work. So much was done within the first week. These guys are very hard workers and they wasted no time when doing their job. There were several hiccups with the plumber and electrician but they were very patient. Ruslan is very meticulous at what he does. I felt very comfortable knowing that we shared something in common. I liked the fact that he allowed me to express my ideas and was open to changes throughout the project. The previous company wouldn't allow me to make changes. I was very impressed with Spiro's eye for detail during our initial walk-through. He explained that his fee includes evening out imperfections in the walls and even conducting minor repairs. And he did come through the house prior to the first big paint day to spackle and plaster. The house was partially empty as we were in the process of moving in, but did have some furniture and boxes scattered around. Spiro and his team worked together with our interior decorator to plan out the various paint colors -- we used eight different colors. They also worked carefully around the stuff we had in the house. We also used wallpaper on seven walls, which Spiro's son Dion subcontracted out to a guy he's worked with frequently, Wilfredo. Wilfredo and his team did an awesome job on the paper -- aligning it carefully, doing a masterful job covering outlet plates, and even wrangling peel and stick wallpaper. Even more, Spiro was willing to come back on a few occasions when we had questions or needed a touch up because we stupidly made a deep scratch in our new front door after only a day (d'oh). And on top of all that, Spiro and Dion are such nice guys. I can't recommend them highly enough and we will definitely work with them again in the future.

It's an old house, with a tight space, and an endless amount of obstacles to overcome in order to pull it off. We interviewed about 6 contractors and collected a number of quotes. A few contractors were not up to the task, while a few came back with either extraordinarily high or absurdly low quotes- and all of them had wonky solutions that seemed impractical. Then came Dominic. Dominic came in with a creative mind. His experience and expertise allowed him to problem solve and come up with a fantastic solution that met all of our needs, and more wants that we could've hoped for. Even more, his quote made sense. He wasn't the cheapest, or the most expensive, but he was fair. Due to a medical issue, there was a massive delay on our end getting started, yet Dominic remained flexible. Once we were finally underway, I was floored at how quickly he and his team worked. They showed up every day, on time, and worked precisely and efficiently. We were dreading having people in our home for several weeks, but his team was lovely to have around! They were polite, kind, helpful, and most importantly, skilled. I was working on several side projects (painting, refinishing cabinets, etc) and they always jumped in to help if they saw me struggling to carry something or lift something heavy. Every day they left the space cleaner than they found it. Not only are they skilled, it is clear they have an incredible work ethic and are just kind people. During the project, we wanted to change the scope a few times by adding in some flooring and a few other things that shifted the project a bit. Once again, Dominic remained flexible. He was there to offer advice- both in helping us stay within budget, while not compromising quality. And despite expanding the scope mid-project, he and his team only needed a few additional days to complete those requests. I've never hired a contractor for this scale of project before and I've heard all of the nightmares about poor quality work, lack of communication, surprise project fees, and delays in completion. We experience none of that with Top Notch Contractors. Dominic and his team delivered everything they promised and more. There were no billing surprises at the end of the project and even though we were satisfied with everything, he and his team were still touching up little things as they were walking out of the door. If you're looking for the Goldilocks of contractors- one who is skilled, fairly priced, and delivers on their promises, you can't go wrong with Dominic at Top Notch Contractors. My father now has a safe & beautiful space and we could not be more grateful.

I agree with the other 3 star review person. None of the workers doing the construction work for Dfine. In fact one of them told us no habla ingles, indicating he only spoke Spanish. Highly suggest you find any other firm to do the actual construction. I've never had an issue with Brothers Services or Tim Kyle Electric. If you want the job done right you need a firm that has employees who are vested in the project results and speak English. Dfine's use of contractors that don't work for Dfine is a mistake from the outset. We had delays and eventually had to negotiate a final payment since not all work contracted for was completed or some services were overpriced after checking with other firms. And some work for which I requested a quote so I could check with another firm was simply done without providing a quote for which I had to pay extra for. And Ahmet, while an owner, was never a project manager. In fact there was no project manager watching over daily work. Allied Remodeling at least offers that, where one of the owners reviews the daily work and any communications. I did eventually outsource some of the work to trusted firms like Tim Kyle and Anderson Windows. Did I pay more? Yes. Did I get the work that I expected? Yes. If Dfine somehow convinces you to go with their work crew, insist that David is the primary person who deals with the work. Still not a project manager, but a cut above the rest of what they have to offer. Anyone else is a joke. The design work done by Dfine was thoughtful. The construction could have been much better. And a word about what you think you want. Marble on any part of the remodel looks great. It is however cold as hell to the touch. In the kitchen during winter the counter tops are always cold. And try backing into a cold wall in the shower. It can be shocking. You may want to consider alternatives. There are plenty of firms that can get work done in a day without using marble. My upgrade from the 1960s was better than it was. Not perfect.

Mr. Purrazello, the father, does not cut corners and is the type of contractor to show the job, explain what you want, listen closely to what he says, agree on the work scope, award the job, then walk away. He's going to deliver a five-star product, and more importantly with concrete, will likely stand the test of time; and, he won't cut corners. These characteristics of integrity, professionalism, knowledge of the industry, dependability, and honoring one's word is rare today. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending how you look at it, this firm is unlikely to be a low bid. But, as I discovered from working with them just one time, it's a company you can trust. That's old-fashioned. Not cutting corners, again old-fashioned. My experience is that these traits of high quality and fulfilling one's commitment are unusual in today's residential construction marketplace. I was astute enough in talking with the father to recognize he was a true, professional Craftsman and to trust his decisions. Now I am left with a backyard patio, in which everyone who sees it says, it's absolutely beautiful! It came out much nicer than I expected and originally called for; and, I am appreciative for it. Going into the project, I simply wanted a basic slab-on-grade patio with a few engineered features that was low cost. What was delivered was a beautiful, constructed better-than-originally-designed, backyard patio. My advice on this contractor to the General Public is: if this firm gives you a price and they are close to your budget, hire them immediately and look no further. Additionally, if you don't want to roll the dice and play games with most residential concrete contractors, simply agree on a work scope and price with this firm then sole source award the job to them. They won't let you down. Why? Because these characteristics of high quality and integrity are very unusual amongst residential contractors, in my experience and opinion. In closing, I must mention that unless the son Joey bid the work as was done in my case, it was likely the only way Purrazello could have won the work. The father and the sons (Joey & Matt) are tremendous craftsmen and I wish them all the best going forward. Again, thank you Purrazello & Sons for a most excellent job! Take care.
