This is a private room with shared bath. I had to walk through a room of men and I am female.

If your have never been to Miami Beach, pick a different place for your first trip. The location and affordability are the only good things here, location being good enough to get a second star. Having stayed in most places in Miami Beach or seen them, in pinch, I would stay here in a private room only. It's a dilapidated 1960's apartment building in really bad shape. The air conditioner had some jerry rigged filter and the dust was as thick as a month of dryer lint with mold growing in the a/c. The place does not seem to be cleaned often and is painted cheap white that lets water stains show. There were moth nests in the room on the ceiling. You can find a cheaper place on the beach that is much nicer than this.

Dallas is on the right. The violent one.

LADIES THIS PLACE IS UNSAFE! I checked in on a Friday. The check in took forever, as the manager is incompetent as well as protects her abusive male staff and lies to the patrons as well as the police whom I had to call because one of the male volunteer staff became physically aggressive and violent with me on Tuesday morning. Dallas, as he is called, was upset with me when I told him on the second day of my stay that his romantic advances were no longer welcome because he had become increasingly possessive, visibly agitated, and downright insulting as he saw me dancing with, speaking to, and having general fun with the other male patrons at the hostel. I asked him to keep his distance and we could be civil until I left. That didn't happen. On Tuesday morning, he was already up to begin cleaning and left the room I was sleeping in which was his room as well. A place having workers sleeping in the same quarters as patrons is another issue, but businesslike is NOT what this place exudes. It's more like an adult day camp where the counselors are all drunk and high all day. Fun, but as we see, that leads to trouble. It Anyway, I woke up around 6am to turn off the AC. The room was freezing and the people remaining sleeping in it were all huddled under our blankets. Dallas returned to the room and turned the AC back on. I asked him to turn it off, and he said, "I aint no slave or no bitch and youre was getting the fuck outta here." He went and grabbed for my open suitcase which was on the floor at the foot of my bed and proceeded to throw all of my belongings from the room into the breezeway outside. He returned three times to be sure he got everything even the bag I was holding that he ripped from my hands. He destroyed some of my things including my glasses. I get up and dress to walk to see the manager. She tells me I have to leave as if I had done something wrong when I was lying in my bed naked holding a blanket to my chest watching this madness. Two older women who were in my room came out and told her I did nothing wrong. They were visibly shaken and upset because his tirade had scared them. Another man from my room defended me as well. They then moved me to another room away from him, bit he still had access to the rooms because he changed the beds everyday. I decided not to stay that night. The manager gave me the owners email and told me to be sure to document which I did. The owner didn't contact me until after 6pm when I emailed at 9am that morning. The following day I called him and he said whatever I wanted to happen would be fine. I asked for a refund for my stay because I don't pay to come on vacation to be attacked and for that man to be removed because he is dangerous. Another female employee said they had been getting complaints about him as well. When I returned to the hostel later the day after, the manager said I had to leave and wasn't getting a refund. I told her the owner said opposite and a phone call was made. The owner Michael then asked for me to call on which he told me that I was only getting a refund for two days because he had people who had a different story. He threatened me that if i called the police or reported to Airbnb , I would get nothing. Once he threatened me, that was it. I called the police immediately and made a report with them and Airbnb. The police knew I was telling the truth and advised me with how to proceed. That man still works at the hostel. At this point Airbnb has swept this under the carpet, and I will be suing both the hostel and Airbnb. Other than the violence, the place wasn't clean, a puddle of water always in the bar bathroom, paper thin walls and mattresses, the food was basically boiled eggs and frozen crap. The drinks were good and the people were cool except for the abusive Dallas and the lying manager Ashley. If you're desperate to not sleep on the street, stay here. Otherwise, it's in a part of Miami with nothing but strip malls and apt buildings, and who knows, you might get your belongings damaged. Save your money and skip this nightmare. Please don't let this post fool you. I am having a blast! Left the Bikini Horror, oops, I meant hostel, and went over to Generator Hostel, as did about half of their patrons after Dallas's outrage outpouring. Generator is EPIC and so are the staff and guests! No one can kill my awesome time, not even the demons of joy try to spread their darkness and I have to take a few breaks to write about them to protect others. Love, peace, and chicken grease, my friends

stay as far away from this place as possible! all the photos are fake! im posting photos i took with this! the place is an old rundown motel that they turned into dorms with up to 12 beds in them. the beds and mattresses are what they use in jails for inmates! you will be wasting your money if you stay there! theres also a $20 a day deposit! theres absolutely nothing good about this place! there is no bar, no cafe, no yard! they dont have anything they listed that they have for the guest to use. and any good reviews about this place are 100% left by they're friends and them. it's also pointless to call the number cuz it's all a recording. the only way to talk to a person that works there is face to face and they won't let you see the room until after you check in and pay them and it's nonrefundable. the people there are frauds and the place should be shut down!!!!

Ants all over the table. Too bad I can't post the video

I usually never leave bad reviews because I firmly believe in let go and let be, but this place absolutely deserves the damage it has coming to it. Please, I beg you with tears in my eyes, skip this place and spend the extra money if you have to... but avoid this place at all costs. Let's start with ants on the table in the breakfast room. I'm not talking about a couple or a few, I mean a whole family tree. An entire colony of ants are swarming this table in the front room by the check in station. Of course I'm leaving pictures to validate. This place is absolutely filthy and overall disgusting on every level. The entire place stinks. The staff is absolutely disrespectful and it's as if they don't want to talk to you and you're a bother to them whenever you have a question, which they immediately brush off with one or two word answers and ask "anything else?" Let's not forget they flirt with all the female patrons that pass through. Highly unprofessional. The gentleman at the front is playing video games half the time. I only stayed for one night, but found so much drama. I can't blame the hostel for its patrons but there are so many people stealing and swearing, slamming doors..... Just an overall nasty environment to be around. I had a few things stolen from me. Upon checking out I asked to charge a mobile battery pack in preparation for my flight. Since I couldn't gain access to the room at that time I politely asked to charge it at the front desk. I leave to meet up with some friends at a cafe on south beach and come back a couple hours later. I get all of my luggage together and realize it has mysteriously "disappeared" and was nowhere to be found. In case you're unable to solve the mystery at this point, it was stolen. I really did have to meditate each morning to get rid of the bad energy of this place. Please save yourself the trouble and skip over this place like the plague. Or the Coronavirus, which they also had there.

    Mold in the rooms

This place is disgusting. When I walked into my room there was mold on the walls and dead bugs in the bed. The whole place is damp, dark and dingy. I was so shocked at the difference from the pictures online to what I saw when I got here. I also booked a private and it was just a small closet space with a bed in the back of a mixed dorm type room. What's the point of that? That's not private at all. I would have been better off at an air bnb or motel. Smh. What a waste of money. And they don't give refunds.

Perfect location to stay in Miami Beach, Bianca the host was nice since my time in the hostel she is amazing!! The beds are comfortable and the people are respectful. Good place to have some days in Miami Beach

This is not a hostel, it is a flop house for binge-drinking, hardtimes tourists. The fact that this place gets a rating of eight means the rating system is deeply flawed. The rooms are misrepresented. The rooms you see advertised are not AT ALL the dark, featureless, prison- like rooms in the 2 story concrete bunker next to the muddy party pit. For example, what was pictured: bright, beautiful spaces with alluring blue bedspread, what I got: dark room, flimsy/ rickety bunk bed, snot on the walls, stained, thin sheets, no blanket, and to top it off, paid for an ensuite bathroom that I had to share with an entire other room full of strangers. The bathroom had soap dispenser that that did not dispense soap, the shower fixture came off in my hand (but not to worry, there was never water hot enough to scald you) The mattress was thin, and reeked of piss. This was a low point for me. I was hoping that the next time I had to sleep on a urine soaked mattress, it would at least be my own. So, my theory about how this utter shit hole stays in business is that the management has chosen to cater to skeevy tourists that are so blotto that they don't care. This place should be ashamed to be considered the same breath as the San Francisco hostel, the New York loft.

After two nights in a premium private room, spending over 400+ in 24 hours, I regret every single penny spent here. After my first experience and night, I wanted to give them another chance. Boy did I regret it. I'll never return. Certain staff have a nasty arrogant service approach. If you want a great location with rude and indecent staff, sure, stay here. When you try to do the right thing to express your dissatisfaction, 3x, in a single stay, yet no-one takes responsibly, don't be surprised. I have reasonable expectations, but I certainly didn't expect to return for a SECOND night in a private room, to be treated the same way. They'll state the bar management is separate than the "hostel" management/owners, which is likely true, but there's no excuse for the REPEAT rudeness and disrespect from staff within the SAME building. The sad part, I liked this place for a whole few hours, until I started spending more money and MORE inexperienced staff, who clearly are UNDER-trained to deliver average service. For my second night in a private room, approx 150 dollars again, I nearly waited 10 minutes at an empty desk. Then, I went to get a drink, only to experience the same as I did earlier in the day when I left, only to give them another chance due to location. That is when I tried to express my suggestions and calm feedback, only to be told my one of the managers/owners (of one of the establishments) that it was my fault. No, this is where wrong becomes more wrong. It's no surprise that the waitress and bartender came at me with negative comments, right infront of one of the manager, the same one who practically blamed me. I had to ask that he get me a drink, because of the CHIP on the shoulders here. No surprise that they're sitting at a table together, drinking together. So yes, if you want a cheap place to stay, with 1 star service, even for a private room, then stay here. Highly disappointed. I appreciate and think Christina is great, Sofia was one of the rude employees of the bar, but not the hostel I guess. Yet they're sitting together and I tried to make things right earlier today, by trying to make things right, as the CUSTOMER. Nope. I think I've only written 2-3 YELP reviews, ever. But this experience called for it 100%. The only positive experience I had was with Christina, who took my ID my first night while a transfer from one account to another for business occurred. It's one thing to not understand decent service and be from aboard, which my parents are as well, but the name of "international hostel" is no excuse for ridiculous and disrespectful service. Hopefully this review will make things better for them and I hope others never experience what I did. The place is clearly popular but I can't settle decent human respect for cost, even at paying cost and spending hundreds here.

The bartender is very nice and super friendly. Great prices for drinks. Especially for south beach.read more

SoBe prides itself on being clean, safe, having a sense of community, free shuttle from the airport, free breakfast and dinner. For $22 a night, SoBe had me two blocks away from Ocean Drive and Miami Beach. Atmosphere: Yes, there is a very young crowd -college students or early twenties - taking advantage of these benefits. SoBe appeals to them for a no hassle experience of getting into some great clubs and meeting other people. If you don't like being in that kind of atmosphere, that you probably should skip SoBe. Because I work w/ college students for my day job, I didn't mind much. I would not book this place if you're traveling children or want a modern, adult-like stay. My roomies of early 20s were respectful, clean, and understood the notion of getting sleep! It did appear those staying got older (30+) during the weekdays. Noise level: It wasn't bad as I expected. The front desk sales earplugs. I use them, as well as an eye mask, every night. With the earplugs, I didn't hear anything. The only time the noise level was high was probably from 9 p.m. till 12 p.m. when SoBe has free drinks and free pick up to advertise whatever party they're going to for the night. After that, it's very quiet since people party till 3 to 4 in the morning. Now, I visited during the end of February, so the bar was not jumping as the reviews prior had talked about. My flight came in pretty late so I wasn't able to take advantage of the shuttle. But the city bus #150 actually stops right in front of it and it was only $2.25. I took it back to the airport as well. On the other corner is the free Miami Beach bus rider. Uber is around and I used the "Freebee" app and system to ride around the area by providing a tip only, which also comes around SoBe often. Food: Breakfast is always been a good, free opportunity to take advantage of that. One piece of fruit and some kind of bread item - a bagel or full waffle - plus juice or coffee. Really can't be bad. I took advantage of the breakfast to cut costs. Dinner: an area of improvement SoBe could improve if they wanted, but hey it's free! They could upgrade by serving Hamburger Helper. Thus I usually passed on dinner. However, what I did once was eat SoBe's dinner as a snack before I went out to a restaurant to save money to not getting too much food later. Especially on Ocean Drive, this is helpful as most restaurants are going to add 18% service gratuity. Big Pink is just a block away if you need it. The communication from management via Airbnb was excellent and consistent. Customer service at the front desk, bar, and cleaning staff were friendly, positive, and pleasant. I plan to come back and book more days soon! Thank you for a great stay!

I told her that Lee already gave me this room and he said he would give me somewhere else. She said they got rid of the drug smoke and I knew there's no way you can get the stink out fast or at all. Smelt like they had been smoking in there recently when I went the 1st and 2nd time. She then got on the phone with Lee and he said that he never gave me that room - He is A LIAR and I told him that he was! Bc he sure did! He said no, I'm wrong - went back and forth but I actually had proof that he did because I took a picture of my key before returning it and showed her the proof. He then shutted up! After that argument, she looked up another room and gave me a new card FINALLY! The manager at the time, Julius, walked by and never helped even when asked for assistance. She also never handed me my luggage and told me to just go behind their desk and get it myself with everyone else's luggage all around. There was no protection for people's luggages whatsoever Then going to the new room, water dropped on my head while trying to work the faulty key for my room but luckily housekeeping helped me in. I saw that the bed was in an all sun side, beaming on the bed while there was a lil bit of a view so I needed a new bed and new key. Now she's just messing with me bc she gave me a key card that didn't even work! This day was never ending of continuous bad events Had to go back down and get a new key and bed. After the 4th time going back up - I finally got a room! It was still pretty filthy all over, door locks didn't work, showerhead just turns the opposite way with the pressure pushing it away and making the whole bathroom floor soaking wet with no drain
