The store owner here needs a few operational lessons in business management. A shop keeper down the road suggested I check this place out, since they would have the style of bikini I was seeking - the Brazilian cut. At first contact the sales associate was friendly with a smile and greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. Most of their swimwear is created by designers in Brazil, though they did not carry any of the designers I was more familiar with such as Triya, Agua de Coco etc. No biggie, the selection in the shop was reasonably priced and there was a variety of color options and bottom styles. After spending a good 30 minutes trying on different patterns and cuts, I decided on a black floral bikini. It ran me about $83.00. The sales clerk reminded me, as she had upon my entrance, of their buy 3 get the 4th half off promotion. Or something similar. I was not interested, but said thanks. The trouble began when I returned 30 minutes later to return the swimsuit. Literally 1 block away there was a shop that offered a selection of swimwear more in line with what I was looking for. Better colors, better fabric, better fit, better designers. I purchased something then immediately headed back to Bikini Brasil, where I was told I could only receive a store credit. No refunds. Gasp! In my polite attempt to explain that I was visiting from out of state and would not use the credit, a debate ensued. I can shop online. I should have read the fine print on the receipt etc. etc. I put my customer service manager hat on and went to work. After requesting the sales clerk contact the manager, I was told to call on Monday to see if the manager could process the refund. "To see," there was no guarantee. Monday arrives, I call and again, am hit with the you can shop online bit. Miss, if the service from your shop is going to be this difficult, I can promise you I will NEVER shop at your store again, online or in-person. She proceeded to explain the situation to the owner, whom apparently was standing right next to her, as I heard her say 'let her know I will try to process the refund.' What is the story with try? Are you unsure of your own business processes? The transaction was not completed on Monday. So I called today and left a voicemail. To my utter disappointment, her follow up was a text message with a screen shot of the refund being processed. And I quote "Hi Jaylena, this is Jodi from Bikini Brasil we already did the refund for you purchase of $82.18 , I will send you a photo to confirm that the refund will be shown in you account in around 2 business day. Ok. THANK YOU." The typos are real. She sent me a text! The icing? The refund was processed 9 minutes prior to her sending the message... today! Tuesday, not yesterday. 3 days to complete a transaction for a visiting customer is not a proper way to provide customer service. Management does not authorize their sales staff to process executive transactions. What is the point in having staff if you can not trust them to run all aspects of your business when you are away? You as the owner should then be on point all the time if you can not allow your staff to act on your behalf when absent. Terrible experience.

The service is very good. I loved the selection of swimsuits they gave and the price is not too expensive.

Babalu Miami's Garage Sale (I mean it literally, as they are located in the fanciest (and the…read morepriciest $$$$) parking garage of all times) had its first summer sale in late June, you could get first pick of an eclectic mix of must-have items from the likes of Missoni and Kenneth Jay Lane at 20 to 70 percent off. That was cool already. One of Miami Beach's favorite retail destinations for luxury brands, Babalu Miami is located in the heart of the Herzog & de Meuron-designed retail, dining and parking structure at 1111 Lincoln Road. With products ranging from top fragrances, jewelry and accessories to beach gear and home décor, it's a one-stop shop for a chic lifestyle. Babalu Miami is one of the only stores in Miami where you can purchase Fornasetti decorative objects, Ortigia Italy candles and AussieBum swimwear. This happened to be one of my favorite boutiques that lines its shelves with everything from swim trunks to watches, home accessories to skincare, books and more. Designers Greg Melvin and Paolo Ambu opened Babalu Miami in 2010 and feature a coveted selection of luxury and must-have items. Sample fragrances from sought-after brands like C.O. Bigelow, Santa Maria Novella and Alvarez Gomez. Sunglasses from Mosley Tribes, Paul Smith, Ray-Ban, RetroSuperFuture and more are summer's ultimate accessories. Pile on jewelry from Kenneth Jay Lane, Noir, Miriam Salat and Dinosaur Designs; and stock up on skincare products from Malin+Goetz. One-stop shopping while waiting for your elevator has never looked so good!

You will definitely find something special and enchanting here. I had to limit myself because I had to keep in mind what would fit in my luggage, but I was still able to have a good haul. This store has the usual categories for museum gift shops, like jewelry, gifts and children's toys, but there were also some more offbeat categories like dog toys and clever housewares that really make the assortment stand out. They also serve coffee and I think some light bites here, so there are some tables set up to enjoy that. The girl at the counter was super- nice too- it just felt like a really cool place to hang and discover neat stuff. If visiting the Wolfsonian, I would 100% recommend capping off your visit here. I'm so happy with the items I got, and would easily comeback on my next trip to Miami Beach to acquire some more nifty things.

Opened to the public in 1995, the Wolfsonian was created by millionaire Mitchell "Micky" Wolfson, Jr., a Miami Beach native and collector and expert on modern design, architecture, and the decorative arts. He began acquiring much of what makes up the collection in the 1970's and he stored it at the Washington Storage Company facility on Washington Avenue in Miami Beach which is a building from 1926. By 1986, 90% of the building housed his collection so he bought the building and established The Wolfsonian Foundation in order to preserve the collection and make it available for research. In 1992 architect Mark Hampton to expanded and renovated the Washington Storage Company building, converting it into a museum and research center. Hampton and architect architect William Kearns created a modernist lobby, museum café and shop. Upstairs are permanent and temporary galleries along with a library, offices, and storage. The museum is one of seven campuses of F.I.U. University. The gift shop for the museum is a very unique and elegant space. Displayed on a beautiful 1915 shelving system by Snead & Co, the Design Store sells a carefully curated collection of design inspired travel accessories, stationary, bath items, household goods, watches, jewelry, clocks, toys, and books that include award-winning Wolfsonian publications. I loved the cat yoga magnets, children's toy flamingo, and book, and note cards. The is the perfect place to find a unique gift for someone or something for yourself. The Cafe is a brand new addition to the museum and it serves ethically sourced coffee, drinks, cake, and pastries The Wolfsonian partnered with the Nandan Estate, an organic farm in the hills south of Nilgiri, at 4000 feet in Tamil Nadu, India. The coffee picks up the flavors of the cardamom, black pepper, chill and orange from the trees also grown on the farm. The café at the Design Museum is their second espresso bar to open. ,A museum entrance ticket entitles you to a ten percent discount at the cafe. You don't have to pay a museum admission to visit the Wolfsonian Design Store + Cafe. There is a separate entrance on Washington or you can enter from inside the museum. This summer is the perfect time to discover the Design Store + Cafe because the ground floor of the museum is free all summer as the upper floors of the museum are renovated and closed to the public.
