I love coffee shops, so I always get excited when I can try a new to me spot, like The Borough. I…read moredon't get to Allendale very often (maybe twice a year) so when I was heading to Grand Valley's campus for an event recently, I made sure to allow extra time to stop by. The parking lot in front is pretty small, and there is only one access point, so if you go past it, you'll have to turn around near the apartments behind it. Don't drive on the sidewalk... I didn't, mostly because there is a sign that says, "This is a sidewalk" which made me laugh. (Truly that should be an entrance into the parking lot!) The space is very bright and airy with cute decor and space to get some work or studying done. I was greeted right away when I walked in and I had a tough time deciding what to order. I wasn't hungry, but I love that they have a full on food menu - including salads, burgers(!!!), bagels, toasts, paninis, pastries, etc. Plus all the regular coffee items, boba, smoothies, and teas. I went with one of the seasonal specials, the banana bread matcha. It didn't take too long to come out and it was very tasty - not really what I was expecting, but I liked it. It reminded me of a very green banana (which is how I prefer bananas), it wasn't super sweet but also not super matcha-y. They are expanding their space, so I am interested in coming back to see what that looks like and to order more delicious drinks and try the food!

I love the healthier food options they have, but you never have to twist my arm for their panini and tater tots as well! They always have fun specials for drinks and the staff have great recommendations. Go check out this great woman-owned spot!

More like a art gallery that serve drinks and coffee than a cafe. Very minimalistic. I don't like it. Drinks are good. They still serve pastries from local Nantucket bakery. The new space is way bigger and brighter, with lots of natural light and space to hang out, get some work done, and enjoy a unique beverage + vegan breakfast sandwich! They also have a lot of fun art everywhere, as well as plenty of cute and irreverent items for sale. Loved the Snoopy stuff! Nate and I stopped in recently to get something from their summer menu - I tried the reaper: vegan caramel syrup, cream soda, espresso, and oat milk marshmallow vanilla cold foam. Nate ordered the sacred heart: lemon syrup, tonic, matcha, oatmilk marshmallow vanilla cold foam, with a dried lemon garnish. Phew! They were both very tasty, smooth and not too sweet. I always enjoy the opportunity to try something unique, and Morning Ritual has always provided that. Also, major points for taking our names for our drinks! Hearing "oat milk latte" and then seeing someone else take your drink is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to coffee shops. It's such a small thing that can make such a big difference and yes I will continue to write about this in every coffee shop review ever, lol. It looks like the space will serve as a music venue, and their sign also mentioned a photobooth, which wasn't there when we visited, so I'm excited to see what they will offer to the community as they continue to bloom in this new location. Parking: metered street parking is available nearby, be prepared to walk a bit!

It had açaí, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, peanut butter and granola. It was fresh and delicious. It was a decent size for the price. Also, I enjoyed the Chicken Gyro and it came with a side salad. This is a small intimate setting with limited seating. The staff are friendly! I have only done take out but I never had to wait a long time. I have my eye on trying the Avocado Toast next time. I love the location and available parking. I tried the green omelette and added a side of the beef sausage. It also came with a piece of sourdough bread. The inside of the café is very cute and calming. I also ordered a hot latte with oat milk and sugar-free pistachio chocolate; that was probably the best part of my order. The food was pretty tasty, and the eggs were a large serving. The side of sausage was an extra $4, which in the future is probably not worth it. The side of bread was also unusually thin and hard to bite/chew - just not what I was expecting from sourdough. I would be interested in trying a Panini or your own next time!

This review is solely on my experience and not the integrity of the bagel itself. I was fascinated when a colleague recommended this place in Rockford for breakfast and I had no idea what to expect when I pulled up to an old home. When I walked in, I was greeted with delicious coffee aromas being ground while people were buying pounds of fresh ground beans. I was confused about the ordering process, but friendly customers explained the procedure. First, you get in line and pick your drink and order a customizable bagel. I picked a sandwich because I was hungry, so I opted for a full on sandwich. I chose an onion bagel with house-made smoked and sliced roast beef, egg, pepper Jack cheese, horseradish sauce, onion, tomato, and lettuce. Yum! The bagels are homemade and on the smaller side so I was able to scarf down the whole sandwich whilst enjoying a large NOLA coffee brew. All of this came to under $10. A great value and interesting experience. After, ordering you can find a seat and they come find you to come back to the counter to pay. You only pay when your food is ready. Then its cafe seat yourself territory. They also have random items for sale and interesting curiosities hidden in the nooks and crannies of this space. Certainly worth a visit based on vibes and price point alone. the food did not disappoint. Smoked meats for the win!
