Our go to grocery store. Fair prices and super nice staff. Some of our favorite things come from the pizza area. Good pizza, nice wing bar and super awesome soups. Only down side is the smell outside for the sewage plant across the street. read more

I bought Hamburger meat on Sunday and made Hamburgers for Labor Day Monday. This is what the meat looked like. They obviously take old brown meat and cover it with fresh. Make no mistake. This was 4.99 per lb. Won't be buying Hamburger there any more. read more

As far as Big Y's go, I've definitely seen better. The store doesn't appear to be in bad shape... until you go inside. Once you pass through the ancient (or possibly just dirty) automatic doors, you're greeted with a grocery store that's straight out of the 90's -- if it's been around that long. I'm not really sure when this Big Y was built, because I just moved to the area a week ago. Needless to say, I'm not impressed. I was also a bit shocked when I saw their prices. Most of the northeast corner of this state is impossibly poor, so paying over $6 for a tub of ice cream seems off to me. Ground beef for $4.29/lb -- what are those cows eating, the $6 ice cream? I'm curious what they're doing with the gross profits they're making since they're clearly not bothering to buy cleaning supplies. When I brought my two packages of $8 pork chops (2 chops per package. No joke.) to the front check out line, I found my 16 year old cashier to have a bit of a superiority complex, since she's working in the most outrageously priced Big Y in the state. There was no bagger, not that I needed one for my two packages of pork chops. I also didn't win a coin, which to me seemed to add insult to injury. On the bright side though, my pork chops were very fresh. read more

The best pizza dough to bake at home. Great meat department. I shop this produce department for many difficult to find items. Alot of prepared food items available. Cooked seafood that is always wonderful. Pricing can be on the high side. Some of their sales are fabulous...meat 4 packs for $20! read more

As far as Big Y's go, I think it is a great place to shop! I always get fresh vegetables, Deli meat & cheese. if I don"t feel like cooking I can get a variety of awesome cooked meals. They have the best rotisserie chicken. I don't go there for the chicness of the store. Keep up the good work. The employees are friendly! read more

I LOVE BIG Y!!!! I love the wide selection of processed name brand foods! I love the nostalgia of shopping in a store that is straight from the 1990's! I love spending so much more on groceries there than I would if I shopped anywhere else in the area! I love that fun slot machine game they have everyone play at the checkout to see if you won the ability to actually get a discount on their Big prices! I love that they care so much about me as a customer that they insist on keeping track of everything I purchase via my Big Y card! I love bringing their fun plastic silver and gold coins with me when I shop in case my slot machine game doesn't win big that day! The place is so clean compared to other gas stations I've been to! I don't even mind when the automatic door stays broken for months and I almost bump my silly nose into it when it doesn't open all the way as I am leaving with my cart full of groceries!
