They have always been up-front in their communications with me and my family. Their pricing is average for the same services at other garages, or dealerships, but the quality of service and their expertise is what I keep going back to.

I started calling around to local places... everyone else were either booked out for the next few week, sticker machines not working or some other issue. They fix your car when they say they will fix it, at a good price, and with a smile. Don't expect a warm, inviting atmosphere when you show up, tho. These guys are mechanics who will fix your car expertly. But it's a small shop, and all of the cars are sort of wedged together. What was designed as a showroom is now their warehouse, and the waiting room is great if you're a fan of 1970's avocado-and-gold color schemes. Honestly if you plan on waiting, there's at least two really good coffeeshops within walking distance. Both are really good places to hang out for a hour or so. Also: I don't know if they would consider themselves LGBTQ+ allies, but the first time I went there with my car after I transitioned, terrified of what might happen, they said "Hi [former name]!" I said, "actually, my name is Penny," and they said "Hi, Penny!" Seriously, nothing else changed, and they have never once deadnamed or misgendered me. If you're looking for a shop that has concierge-level amenities, move along. But if you want expert repair from a couple of guys who love what they do, this is the place.

The people at D&B Auto, Bruce in particular, are honest, competent, knowledgable, patient--everything you could possibly want in auto shop mechanics. Or, for that matter, friends. This is a fine shop; not only in their service, but in the thoughtful advice they give. I'm a fan for life, and will be taking my car there as long as D&B is standing. Bruce: you rock! And by the way: everyone hates wait times, but not everyone knows that less than a five minute stroll away is the Abundance Co-op, a somewhat hippy-dippy but amiable natural foods place with a large cafeteria area, good coffee, free books, soup and sandwiches, internet. It's the perfect spot to wait till your car is done.

Unlike other garages, there were no fear tactics used to try to tell me I need new tires, or brakes, or whatever. Every interaction that I've had with them so far - phone and in person - has been professional and respectful. While waiting for my car, I listened to the interactions with other customers. I have honestly never heard auto service people speak as kindly and thoughtfully to customers. Also like other independent garages, there is an actual waiting area, with multiple tables, chairs, a window that allows you to look into the garage, a maintained bathroom, and a selection of Keurig coffees. Disregard the couple of bad reviews that have been submitted. Customers can be jerks and there are some people that are never satisfied. It seems that Schoen Auto's genuine philosophy is to do what is necessary to make things right with those rare unsatisfied customers. I hope this garage is around for a long, long time and remains under the same ownership.
