After completing my second visit to Big Sticks Golf in Burlington, MA, I decided to write a review for Yelp! My first visit was very positive and it prompted me to come back. I booked the golf simulator which allows for independent play as a solo or with a group of up to four where you can play practically any course isn't he world, practice at the range, or just analyze your swing. Because this is a golf simulator, you hit specially designed golf balls into a screen where various monitors and sensors pick up the trajectory, ball spin, velocity and forecast distance and accuracy. The results are very realistic and the distances from my own club selection are surprisingly accurate. While the tee to green is highly comparable to real life, the short game does take some adjustments. The staff at Big Sticks Golf was friendly and courteous in welcoming me, offering an empty bay to take some warmup swings and then logging me into the simulator. The rest was up to me. Again, the experience was lifelike enough to work on my swing after many winter months off. Where I was advised by their on-line booking site as well as talking to a member of the staff that an individual can play 18 holes of golf in under an hour at $55/hour. I played pebble beach and enjoyed it very much, despite losing too many strokes around the greens with finicky technology that requires some getting used to. For my second visit I booked 2 hours and played TPC Sawgrass twice since the PGA tour was there this week. Again the staff was courteous and assisted me in getting set up. While my tee to green game was still good, I experienced notice improvement in the short game vs. my previous visit. Using the "aim" on the monitor vs. trying to compensate with your actual stroke is key. I was very pleased with the experience and not only played the course twice shooting in the low 80s each round, but I also had 25 mins remaining to hit the range and work on various clubs and my swing. It was well worth the money and I am really looking forward to the warmer weather getting her to keep the momentum going on my regular outdoor game too. When it may be more convenient to play a quick round indoors, I will keep this establishment in mind all year round. I am a complete novice and didn't know where or how to go about finding a golf instructor. After doing some google search, I happened to stumble upon Big Sticks and Terry. I've gone to practice there, and have had several lessons with Terry now. It's a welcoming, clean, well-maintained, and non-pretentious environment. I feel comfortable being there as a complete beginner. My fiancé has used the simulator to play a round of golf, and he had no issues with the equipment. I've been enjoying my lessons with Terry, and I feel very lucky to have found him. He is professional and kind. He gives all of his attention to me during lessons and makes me feel like he cares that I learn correctly. I can tell he takes pride in the quality of his teaching, no matter your level. I plan to stick with Terry for a while and I feel hopeful that I can get out on the course to play one day! read more

Terry , John and the rest and the team are terrific! Great lessons and plenty of bays from golf simulators to play top notch golf courses, to bays to video your swing, and of course practice bays to simply track and groove a better swing. Plus it's reasonably priced, easy to get to and a great spot for winter matches with the boys. read more

Terry is the man. I took what I learned during my lessons right to the driving range and turned them into habits. Ball striking, distance, and accuracy have all greatly improved. Golf is a ton more fun when you're playing well! read more

Terry is not the most personable teacher. He may have a good understanding of the game but the tips he gave me didn't really help. The facility has nice simulation machines however it is usually packed. I haven't been there in a year so I don't know if things have changed. I have definitely experienced better. read more

Terry is an excellent teacher and I just love the facility. It's spacious, well lit, and has plenty of parking. Great location right off 128 near cafe escadrille. The simulator is really fun and you actually forget it's winter outside while playing 9 holes. So glad I found this place...was referred by a really good golfer:) read more

Love this place. I'd never really taken improving my swing seriously until this past year. I was looking to get some lessons and have a place to consistently work on my golf swing thru the cold months. I looked at GolfTec and BigSticks and decided to go with BigSticks for a few reasons. 1- While maybe missing the big fancy sign of Golftec it had more simulators to hit from and a wider variety. 2- While taking a look at GolfTec I felt they were really pushing packages on me, and I'm someone who hates the pressure of a salesman leaning on me. They seemed more focused on pushing lessons on me when I was trying to get about 20% lessons 80% practice time. Terry at BigSticks was extremely personable (seriously questioning Daniel's understanding of the word). On days when Terry isn't teaching he is always happy to answer questions about something we discussed during a lesson or take a look at the swing to see if I'm implementing it correctly. 3- I finally picked BigSticks bc I wanted a place to practice, especially through the winter. As I mentioned GolfTec pushed more lessons but did offer 30 min hitting sessions. For me 30 minutes was just not worth it. BigSticks does hour time slots and will let you stay if no one has reserved the sim after. read more

I bought 3 lessons at Big Sticks and I've taken 2 of them so far. When I came for my first lesson I had not golfed in years and whenever I tried going to the driving range or playing a round I had a wicked slice. It was awful. After 2 lessons I have already seen a VAST improvement. It all recently has begun to just click - granted I've spent numerous hours at the driving range and on the course trying to remember and apply everything I've been taught, but you can't expect to just have lessons, not practice, and get better. Being able to watch and analyze your swing and see everything you're doing wrong helps tremendously. Terry is a great instructor and the simulator is really cool too! I'm really looking forward to my third lesson to sharpen my skills even more and applying them for years to come. Big Sticks has made me excited to play golf and continue to try and get better now that I have the knowledge of what it was that I was doing wrong and how to fix it. read more

Terry is fantastic! Polite, extremely patient and knowledgeable. I'm a novice golfer and a little intimidated by the game. Terry has taught me quite a bit in the short time I've worked with him. My confidence has increased, and I have become a better golfer. The technology at Big Sticks is helpful and fun to use. I am able to see my mistakes and experience realistic course conditions. Recently found this place and I've been several times already. Whatever your level this place is a perfect place to practice. They have great, accurate equipment which will give you both shot stats and video analysis after every swing. The staff is also really helpful. Rates are not cheap at 30/hr but reasonable considering it's maybe even more useful than a driving range and you can go anytime. Glad I found it. read more

Big Sticks is a fantastic facility and the owner, Terry, is as good of a teacher as you will find in New England. Also, the prices are reasonable for lessons and time on the simulator. I play a lot of golf and always recommend Big Sticks to my friends who need a little help with their swing or some time on the simulator during the winter. Terry is well versed in the mechanics of the golf swing. Using video analysis, he was able to point out several flaws in my swing. He was easy to work with and he listened to me to find corrections and drills to help me. Anyone who wants to improve their game should consider seeing Terry. read more

I had an initial evaluation/swing analysis this morning at Big Sticks with Terry Felty. I've taken group lessons at a golf club in the past but never understood what I was doing wrong that kept me from getting good driving distance. This was my first time taking a private lesson. I learned more from Terry in an hour than all those group lessons combined. Terry is a terrific teacher. He explained everything clearly and wasn't the least bit intimidating--something I appreciated as an older woman who isn't particularly athletic.
