Sad to say this store has gone downhill. From the cashier's not being the friendliest (only a handful are) the head cashier has no customer skills always gets angry when you ask about a price and responds with an attitude. The bakery was the best in town but yesterday they proved they lost their touch. The Mosaic gelatina was sour and had no flavor, the chocoflan chocolate bread was sour and dry, and the tres leches cake which was one of the best was dry. Ever since the lady that was in charge of the bakery left it hasn't been the same. Won't be going back anytime soon.. read more

mr pots n pans here got emotionally compromised when i asked to see his credentials.the mgr told me that the guy pays rent to be here. i said that's fine, i just need to know if his company is real. the mgr also said if i didn't have a badge, he didn't have to show me anything. i debated that, then realized this guy is making the mgr a lot of money. what else could it be right!? after all i am a customer with groceries. this ended with me saying, i will not be coming back bcos he has allowed a vendor to yell, curse, and flip me off for asking a legal and protective question. Reached out to corporate (tried to give you an opportunity to make it right before calling you out on Yelp) but I didn't hear back. Honestly, one of my pet peeves is buying expired groceries. We stopped here yesterday just for spaghetti and happened to walk by the meat counter to see it was not closed it was an open counter with flies just sitting on the fish. The fish also looked old and dark. Every meat counter I've visited has been closed with glass doors to keep the meat enclosed and protected from air and flies. We also seen a huge fly just sitting on the package meat. Once we got to check out counter the lady in front of us was told by the cashier that her packaged drumsticks had a odor. To see the cashier smell the meat and then to have the odor from the meat to hit our noses was disgusting. Some of the liquid from the meat leaked on the counter and the cashier had to stop and wipe it down. The smell was horrible. Be careful when purchasing meat here. They really need to be inspected by the health department. read more

This store just opened a few months ago in this area and we've become regular shoppers. It is smaller than some of the big chain grocery stores but has a lot of the regular staples that we end up running out for at the last minute. We particularly like their extensive meat counter and good produce selection. The selection of other less perishable goods is not as extensive, but the meat counter is worth the special trip. The store seems well managed and clean, no funky meat smells like we notice at Superior or Stater Bros. The thing that really has sold me on this store is the check out time -- fast. I've actually completely abandoned Superior because of the checkout times are worse that getting through security at the airport. I'll also go out on a limb and say that I think the fellow shopper clientele is a little better at this store than the other bigger stores nearby. We still make trips to other stores, but when we need meats or produce, Big Saver is where we've been shopping. read more

The manager is not very bright. I sent them my resume online. They responded back to me saying that they want me to come in to talk to the manager Ali and fill out an application. When I go in, Ali tells me I can't because I'm not 18 yet. Nothing online says I have to be 18. Cool little local Mexican grocery store that bring convenience and offerings that you're unable to find at the big grocery stores. They have insane prices on meats, but in that same token, they don't have a lot of common meat that Americans eat. For example, they don't have steak. Not one single kind. They also don't have blue cheese, or sharp cheddar. They do have a huge variety of the Mexican cheese, both over the counter and packaged. Beer is cold and cheap, and the veggies are...well, questionably fresh. It takes weeks for a cucumber to go limp, so when they sell those huge boxes of cucumbers @ "6 for $1" it always makes me wonder what I'm eating. That being said, you can get a huge bag of limes for $2. Its definitely a "Choose your battles" kind of shopping experience. The home made salsa is as close to home as you can get from a plastic tub, and their home made tortilla chips are very very thick. Perfect for chilaquilas. It can smell bad in there at times, but not bad enough to keep me from running in for a few items. I arrive at 3 stars. read more

I put in a order for a cake days before the party they said they can do it with all the confidence in the world !! So the day of he party I'm running late to the party I go to pick up the cake And it's a mess !!! Line crooked and mind u The little Pokémon candles on the cake I got I had to get those because the cake had nothing but sloppy ass whip cream frosting when on the receipt I said buttercream frosting! They had no top to cover the cake! The whip cream got stuck to the box and messed up the back of the cake as shown in the pic . And the cake was hard asF ! And how the cake was sloppily done as if they did it right before I came to pick it up and just rushed the job . I will never I mean NEVER get a cake from there again I felt so bad taking that cake to the party and it looked nothing of how it was supposed to . had multiple bad experiences with this store and i only go here cuz i live blocks away , this is my third time getting something expired or rotten and the dates say its not expired . i bought some chicken this week it was really slimy and with a very bad odor . last week i bought canned beans and the date says it doesn't expire till feb 2022 . also the cashiers are really rude and look really unhappy to work there . probably going to start taking my business elsewhere read more

Those Irish landscapes with the single road -- you see it in films where the car gets stuck as a herd of sheep surround it. That was my experience trying to get into the parking lot at Big Saver. There was a herd of teenagers testing the survival of the fittest theory as they just stepped out in front of a car trying to leave and also in front of my car trying to enter. While they did make room for me to get out of oncoming traffic, they then gathered in the parking lot drive way and increasingly got more pissed as other cars pulled in, and they had to separate, and then walked right back to group in the driveway of the parking lot. I'm guess, much like water, that might have been a low point in the driveway and they were powerless to walk to higher ground. And then there were two friends that needed to hug and catch up a few feet down but still in the pathway of cars -- yes, there were plenty of open spaces for them to stand in but maybe it's just more exciting to get honked at? And the guy reading his receipt, you guessed it, right in the pathway of on coming cars. Now for the good news. It's an older store but very tidy. I scored on the 3-for-$1 Kerns fruit drinks while I pulled out cash (cash back ) to pay my So Cal Edison bill (payment center M to Sat; closes at 5pm.) The max you can get as cash back at the regular registers is $40. The manager was out and present to keep an eye on his store. The vibe was friendly and the register people really connected with the customers. I think I might have to hand onto their advertisement and get the specials when I go in there to pay my Edison bill. Oh, yes, leaving was just the same. That crowd of sheep were doing their thing. The traffic in the street was pretty light so, all in all, it's a nice small store to visit. read more

I come to this location really often and normally come because there's a girl there that's super sweet but she transferred to the location on Woodruff and Alondra. Since she left I've been dealing with little attitude cashiers. I organized all of my items for the cashier (Maria). She made it seem like I was an inconvenience to her and she did not pay any attention to what I asked her. I told her to do a certain transaction first, I repeated myself 3 times and she still decided to do what she wanted to do. Maybe she didn't understand me? I felt really bad for snapping at her but she should've listened when I asked her the first 3 times. I organized everything for her to make it easier for her and the customers behind me that way she can finish at a faster pace. I'm not sure but this makes me want to take my business elsewhere. The key holder there is a sweetheart though which is why I at least gave this interaction two stars. read more
