I'm a cali girl born and raised to me a visit to Aldi for pre summer fruit is definitely a requirement for me at the first sign of summer heat in Cali. Located in Bixby Knolls inside a hug parking lot built on the spot where the old post office used to be. The store is clean but most often it's not properly staffed that's what I usually see upon walking in or when I'm at the register some yells for a cashier. Today's visit was all about the cherries and I wasn't disappointed they had boxes filled with fresh cherries I grabbed 3 and a bag of green grapes and made my way over to the dairy isle and grabbed some cottage cheese next up sweet potato chips and a case of water and orange juice. I found everything I need and then some including a bottle of wine I don't shop here often but when I do it's always a quick in and out after getting my haul and I will be back next week for more seasonal fruits. 9/14/23 Mangoes bigger than Hubby's head....well not really but close! 0.39 cents each-what a steal!! Admittedly, I was just stopping by to use the facilities, thinking it was located towards the back of the store, that's where I gravitated. Saw the mangoes & I instantly bagged a few. Bagged avocados were $2.79 each, snatched a bag & now I regret not buying more. I couldn't stay long so I skedaddled when Hubby called and discovered the restrooms were at the front. Nice clean grocery+ store. The building still has a sort of new gleam to it. Easy parking in a not overly busy area. They carry a lot of brands you probably haven't heard of and mixed in you'll find some well-known name brands for certain goods. You'll find a smaller section of fresh fruits and vegetables all priced very competitively. A decent selection of baked goods and ready-to-heat meals. Throughout the store, you'll find some excellent prices and even if you're just looking, you'll end up grabbing a little of something. Checkout is quick and you bag your own stuff. Visited Aldi today January 3, 2025, on Atlantic Ave. On their weekly ad they advertised flap meat @ $5.99/# talked to a person there and they told me that that sale was off yesterday 1/2/25. But not according to the advertisement online (cost savings no fliers) the sale was supposed to go through today 1/3/25. They also advertised Lamb Shanks @ $5.99/# but all they had was chops @ $8.99/#. So I guess in the small print it says while supplies last. This is how they can get away lying about their products. But they lied to me about the flap meat. Plus, you cannot call them b/c they say in the phone message that as part of their cost savings their local store phone #'s are unlisted, and they don't answer. It doesn't make sense how you can save on cost & have an unlisted telephone number. Never again I'm letting Clark Howard know as well. I agree with Jules G. Trader Joes from now on. I go to Aldi's mostly everyday. I really love Aldi's prices but for some reason today i experienced a bad vibe and negative energy from the cashier Darian. He accidentally charged me for something I was not purchasing and when I went back to get my money returned, he seemed upset with me. It was a mistake he made. I was very patience and nice to understand. He didn't even apologize and made an upset grunt. It just didn't make sense. I hope he has a better day . read more

This aldi's is in a new or almost new modern building with a large free parking lot off the main drag. To ensure you return your cart which saves aldi money, you put in a quarter to take a cart and get the twenty five cents back when you return the cart where you got it. Aldi is owned by the Albrecht family. A different branch than the albrecht who own trader Joe's I call this a discount trader Joe's without the marketing hype and without the cult following. LOL like tj, almost all products are their brand not the national or international name brand. The contents are the same but the label is different I have been happy the the aldi quality for years. I went to the aldi in Inglewood when I lived in westchester. The canned and other non perishable food goods are of excellent quality and are very low in price. Substantially, not by pennies. Their frozen food has some creative, yummy food as in trader Joe's but substantially cheaper than trader Joe's by $1 or $2. The produce is fresh but the selection is basic, kinda weak. Some people complain about the meat but I find it just fine. The dairy selection is big with many cool cheeses at super low prices. Their baked goods are lousy in my opinion. Aldi is pretty much self serve with little or no staff on the floor. Very few cashiers but the line moves quickly. You bag your own groceries. All these cost saving measures allow aldi to truly pass the savings on to their loyal customers. A new aldi's is being built on Anaheim street, on the western end of Cambodia town. read more

This is my go-to grocery store. I am used to bagging my own groceries and taking my cart back. But I do that at pretty much every place I shop. Prices are always affordable for quality groceries. They have good organic selection. They do not have a lot of variety of items is the only downside. Sometimes their things aren't the best organized but I am used to finding my way. The workers have always been helpful when asked questions. It's usually not too busy during the wk I have only seen longer lines on wkends or day before holiday. If you are looking to budget and need some staples for the week I would recommend. If you like variety and more options and want to pay for that then maybe not. read more

Here's the story, today 11.29, around 2pm-ish, I'm checking out, in the self check out, on my phone cause thats why im at the self check out. There is one checker, black girl, so apparently she's watching ME check out and proceeds to yell to me, I'm nnot paying attention, cause I'm on the phone, so she gets louder and I look around like who the hell is yelling?? This lady, instead of getting off her ass to come over to talk to me like a normal human, decided yelling to me from across the lanes to get my attention and then is annoyed that im not paying attention, she's telling me how to scan a goddamn onion..was that really necessary...ear I had my phone up to, is the same one she saw me on so ideally,walk over instead of being lazy. Great place, their refrigeration aisle has some good cold cuts and frozen foods and sweets, the place is always clean and the cashiers are fast. People tend to complain about the line only being one open at a time but once it gets busy they bring out the other cashiers immediately so nothing to fuss over and also their marinara pasta sauce is really good barley add anything to it. read more

It's Aldi for Pete's Sake, so your expectations need to be consistent with other Aldi's around the country...and in that situation, this location is just fine. The cheese (both block and shredded) that we buy here is consistently cheaper and bigger than at Von's or Ralph's. And a lot of the Aldi's brand items are quite good (looking at you, Aldi Pita crisps). Plus there are sometimes items that must have been overstocked somewhere and was brought here....the Big Lots of Groceries, I guess. Just today, we picked up frozen mussels for $2.99...just a box in the freezer. Once they sell out, you won't see them again for a while. read more

Cashier Yvonne told me to swipe my card, but I had cash in hand, since I was gonna pay with both, and then she said "oh, you should've told me you were gonna pay with cash" and I said yeah I'm paying with both but you told me to swipe my card, and she tried canceling it the transaction and then she said " you should've told me u we're paying with cash" . I left it alone because I'm not gonna hold up the line to argue with someone unprofessional. That's what Yelp Is for. So here goes. As former manager of a large grocery store chain, customer service is key. Yvonne telling me I should've told her about the cash first came off very patronizing. First of all, I don't work there. How about showing me or asking me first before rushing me to swipe my card and all so your line can go faster. I have gone to Aldi for years and it disheartens me to write this. I was extremely disappointed in the management today. Bone-In Ham was on sale for 99cents/pound. When I went to the register it didn't show the discount. The manager said it would show after it went through. It did not. The manager asked me to show which case I had gotten the Ham from. When we went to the case, someone had removed the price tag with the Sale price. The manager asked if I took a picture of it. I said no. I asked if someone removed the tag after I had asked about it. She said, I don't know I was in the back. She didn't investigate any further into it. Keep in mind, there were still hams in the case and now there was no price tag on the case. They charged me $1.79 per pound instead of $0.99 per pound. I was charged almost twice the price. I will no longer be going to this store. read more

I have been coming this this aldi since the day they opened and wow, has it gone down hill. 1: the place is an absolute mess. 2: their Aldi finds aisle has been bare for months now. They rarely get any of the sought out finds. 3:the free standing freezer has had hams and turkeys in it for over a year now and never has any of the featured items that are in the weekly flyer or what people are talking about online. 4: They continue to put high quality red wine in their cooler section which can really change the profile of the wine that took years to make. It's a major disrespect to the vineyards that have spent decades perfecting their grapes. 4: the female security guard spends more time on her phone at the door than she does paying attention to the people who are stealing products. I even told her that 2 people were stealing and she just looked up from sitting down and went right back to her phone. This is now by far the most disorganized and crappy aldi in the area. In fact I've been going to aldi for YEARS before they came to the west coast. Do yourself a favor and go to either Westminster or Bellflower before coming to this location. They are way cleaner, way more organized and have almost all the featured products in the weekly flyer. Aldi on Atlantic, you need new management and an internal face lift. Literally a zero star. The cashier Ivonne was SOO helpful She was soo helpful with her angry facial expression and rude customer service it made my instacart order that much more enjoyable! So if you want your grocery experience to be as enjoyable as mine please go to the cashier Ivonne and tell her I sent you! Now onto the tea... I was in line behind a sweet old man and I was doing an instacart order. She's rapidly checking out the man's groceries and talking in a very low voice so when she says his total he can't hear so she repeats it, again in an annoyed voice. She snatches the old man's money and change out of his hand and hands him his change without even looking at him. Then she rapidly starts scanning my items but get this, SHE PUTS IT IN THE OLD MANA SHOPPING CART LIKE BRUH THATS NOT MY CART. Me, my boyfriend (who was helping me with my order, and the old man all look at each other so confused. Me and my boyfriend say "that's not our cart" and she says "that's okay" like bruh BFFR! It's not okay because the old man was rushing to get HIS things out of HIS cart and I kid you not I could feel the blood rushing to my face and I never wanted to spit in someone's face more. Also 2 people tried getting in line after me and she just had to say "can you go to the next one I'm closed" in the most rude way and when I was about to pay another person put there stuff on the conveyer belt and she said "I'm closed (THEN SCOFFS) ugh but it's fine." Aldi is open in Long Beach! Bring your quarter and reusable bags and get ready to save. It's practically in the same parking lots as Vons and it's not the place to do all your grocery shopping, but a good place to start, especially for staples. They have great prices on lots of the basics and fun and exotic ingredients from time to time. It's worth checking out before heading to the regular grocery store because you never know what you'll find here! (I even found some Christmas presents on my trip there today.) How to prepare for a trip to Aldi: Leave preconceived preferences of brand names at home. Just like Trader Joe's, they have their own store brands with quality products. Don't be afraid. Bring a quarter for the cart, you'll get your quarter back when you turn in the cart. Close your mouth after your jaw drops at some of the amazing prices. Bring your reusable shopping bags (because of the environment, but also because they charge for bags like every other grocery store, but they were doing this before the new CA law took effect). ZERO stars! My first and LAST time shopping at ALDI! I came here for strawberries and limes. I quickly gathered my items. I proceeded to the cashier, where I found a line that was half a dozen people long with one checker. When it was finally my turn to pay, the cashier lady broke the plastic bag containing my limes. She did not replace the bag, but put the limes into a basket for me to retrieve after paying. It was at this time that my limes fell onto the dirty, gross, floor. The cashier lady picked the limes off of the dirty and disgusting floor, placed them back into the broken plastic bag, and never got me new limes! WOW! When I got home, I used soap and water to wash off my cootied up limes from the nasty ALDI floor! How ridiculous! Never shopping here again! read more

I went into this store for a quick milk, eggs, and a few other things I saw on the way out. All I had on me was my phone and credit card so I could not get a cart. I asked this guy for his as it looked like he was returning it but he said he was a worker and needed it so he took it to the back. Ok, thats fine. I get to the check out and no fault to Aldi at this point in time but side note ( DONT YOU HATE THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE TO START LOADING ON THE BELT WHEN YOU CANT MOVE UP AND THEY ARE RIGHT BEHIND YOU BREATHING DOWN YOUR NECK ) no one can wait their turn anymore. Ok back to the check out line...this woman is greeting everyone in front of me. Hi, how are you, how is your day going and other small talk and says have a blessed day once they leave. Once I get up there- I get nothing. No hello. No small talk. No have a blessed day. All of my items got thrown in the cart bc I guess Aldi gives you a cart at the end to bag all of your own groceries. She threw my reusable bags out of the way so eggs could be up top but as she literally shoes my bags off that area all my bags went flying on the ground and she did apologize but after her attitude with me and the rude people that shop there... There is a worker there called Marc according to the store manager Steve. Both Steve and Marc are extremely rude to me whenever I go in and I do believe it's because I'm black and female. Marc goes out of his way to answer when I ask other employees where things are. And he just points to it carelessly with his back to me and says there is ma'am. So I think they think that I'm offended when they call me ma'am so when I went into complain about Marc for the second time to Steve, who I believe is related to Marc, he kept saying ma'am in every sentence. So I would say anything, he would rudely say yes ma'am. And he did it so much it became obvious he was trying to offend me. He would do things like say yes ma'am as I was speaking. Or after every sentence I spoke. Over and over Thank you ma'am. So I had to explain to him that I'm not offended when you call me ma'am I'm a ma'am. But these two are definitely extremely rude, both the store manager and Mark. read more

During the coronavirus the ugliness comes out in people. Everyone was gathering in on massive line because this "gentlemen" refused to put his light on eventhough he was ringing up people. It was a way for him to pick and choose who to ring up. Everyone in the main line was letting him know his light wasn't on yet he refused to turn the light on or state that there was two separate lines which resulted in people believing they were cut in front of. I could tell he was doing it to be spiteful but one thing you don't do is waste peoples time cuz you're having a power trip.. Won't shop here as long as I see him working there which doesn't say much coz the quality of this place is going down anyways. read more

Don't expect any customer service here. Cashiers looking high and mighty LAZY as they sit on their high chair while scanning your groceries and then just dump and toss your items on another cart .They literally throw your stuff in a cart! Some of my items end up leaking or opened because of that.They then direct you to the counter to bag your stuff. So much waste of time! Couldn't he/she just tossed it in a grocery bag instead? I love this store. Aldi takes all the "fun" out of shopping and boils it down to what groceries are about, food. There is no music, thousands of options of one type of food or gimmicks. Sounds boring, but it's totally worth it. The options they do have are exceptional. The staff is beyond friendly. I reccomend this location and just go in with an open mind and get ready to save. This is the newest grocery store in my area, and it recently had its grand opening last month. Today is my very first time visiting and shopping at this store. I was curious because my Mom went to the grand opening and she shared with me how foods are priced at bargains and are very affordable. When I came in to visit and park for the very first time, I was impressed at how uncrowded and easy it was to park. I took a picture of the front of the store. The lady who monitored the carts outside told me that pictures of the store were not allowed. I informed her that this was my very first time visiting and that I was just taking a picture of the front, and will not take any pictures inside of this store. I went inside and I saw how big this store was, with lots of food and merchandise selections, how the aisles were big, and the setting was very spacious! No more bumping into other customers. I liked how most of the foods were very cheap and affordable. I found it also interesting that they had their own store generic brands available, which were cheaper than national brand foods. However with my healthy eating interests and special dietary needs, I found that many of the prepared foods had milk in the ingredients list, and that is why I did not buy them. Hence health food grocery stores are still my best places to find those types of foods that exclude allergenic ingredients. Overall, they are a good grocery store for low prices and great values, but for my special dietary needs, unfortunately they could not fully fulfill those needs and desires. However I will still shop here from time to time with my family. So grateful to see another grocery store in my neighborhood. Thank you, Aldi! read more
