9/14/23 Mangoes bigger than Hubby's head....well not really but close! 0.39 cents each-what a steal!! Admittedly, I was just stopping by to use the facilities, thinking it was located towards the back of the store, that's where I gravitated. Saw the mangoes & I instantly bagged a few. Bagged avocados were $2.79 each, snatched a bag & now I regret not buying more. I couldn't stay long so I skedaddled when Hubby called and discovered the restrooms were at the front. Never underestimate a good deal Now I'm off to check out the fmr mkt nearby (Thursdays only)

Nice clean grocery+ store. The building still has a sort of new gleam to it. Easy parking in a not overly busy area. They carry a lot of brands you probably haven't heard of and mixed in you'll find some well-known name brands for certain goods. You'll find a smaller section of fresh fruits and vegetables all priced very competitively. A decent selection of baked goods and ready-to-heat meals. Throughout the store, you'll find some excellent prices and even if you're just looking, you'll end up grabbing a little of something. Checkout is quick and you bag your own stuff. Aldi's is the jam.

Visited Aldi today January 3, 2025, on Atlantic Ave. On their weekly ad they advertised flap meat @ $5.99/# talked to a person there and they told me that that sale was off yesterday 1/2/25. But not according to the advertisement online (cost savings no fliers) the sale was supposed to go through today 1/3/25. They also advertised Lamb Shanks @ $5.99/# but all they had was chops @ $8.99/#. So I guess in the small print it says while supplies last. This is how they can get away lying about their products. But they lied to me about the flap meat. Plus, you cannot call them b/c they say in the phone message that as part of their cost savings their local store phone #'s are unlisted, and they don't answer. It doesn't make sense how you can save on cost & have an unlisted telephone number. Never again I'm letting Clark Howard know as well. I agree with Jules G. Trader Joes from now on. LD Long Beach

Great store great staff, not like a regular grocery store though...they have a lot of things but not everything, if you know what I mean.

And mind you, perhaps you'll get a better tasting batch of strawberries maybe? The stall is in a church's parking lot, I believe, although I parked on the street and walked over. Went around an hour before closing. It's $8 for a pound of strawberries, so definitely not cheap. Especially when you can get strawberries for roughly $2.5/lb at Costco or even as low as $2/lb at other stores. I have really fond memories of buying strawberries from Thacker Berries back in middle school, and them tasting AMAZING. I don't know if I need to wait until even later in the seasons, but these were marginally "better" if not equivalent to the strawberries I buy at any other supermarket. I don't consider the 4x pricing worth it. The real killer was when I was cutting my strawberries, and the first one which was really large and promising, essentially ended up being rotted all the way through... My experience was essentially the same when I bought strawberries from another of their booths a couple of years ago. There's nothing really that stands out that makes them worth the extreme upcharge. I cannot tell if the flavor/quality has dropped or if I need to wait until the weather gets even warmer. Not sure if I plan on trying them again after two expensive misses.

I've picked up ingredients here for pho, pad Thai, egg rolls, vermicelli bowls, papaya salad, bun bo hue, spring rolls, thit kho, and pretty much anything you'd normally grab at 99 Ranch when you're in a pinch. They carry specialty meats like beef tripe, tendon, and shank, plus fresh herbs, endless rice and noodle options, and all the pantry staples you could need. The store is always clean and organized, and they even sell hot to-go foods if you need something quick to eat. They also have herb and pepper plants for all the green-thumb people out there to add to your garden. The workers are always super nice, helpful, and welcoming. So happy to have a spot like this in the neighborhood!

When first entering I was surprised at how clean & organized this little market is. Most stores like this have a certain weird smell & are dirty & grimy. My favorite item to get here is their spicy tvako - OMG so good. I would recommend to anyone if you're looking for somewhere to get your fix.

It's located in Bixby Knolls, surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants, bars and breweries, yet it's the only true wine bar right there. Honestly, Long Beach has more wine bars than most surrounding areas, and since the South Bay is packed with breweries, if you're tired of beer this is your sign to switch it up. You will not regret it. The food menu has cheese boards, salads and sandwiches, and everything I've had here has been delicious. The cheese boards are better than sex. There is seating indoors and outdoors. It's minimal, but somehow we always manage to find a table. The service is consistently great and the owner is wonderful. She will be leaving soon and she will absolutely be missed, but what she has built here will definitely be cherished. The new owners fell in love with the place, so you can expect it to be well taken care of and to remain just as charming. Parking is street only, so read the signs carefully so you don't end up with a ticket. If you go on a Sunday there are no restrictions or time limits, which makes it even better.
