Don't bother with customer service being reasonable. Placed an order online for pickup by my son, they refused to release the order to him. He presented an ID as requested and I called to confirm they should release the order to him. No dice. I asked for a refund and was denied and then abruptly hung up on after being told I had to take it up with corporate. Filed a chargeback instead. Never had a problem designating a family member to pickup an order from any other local business with online ordering. Taking all of our business elsewhere from now on. read more

I've been using this store for a couple of years. They have everything around your needs, but the staff is not very friendly. The kids out in the yard are even worse. I spend over $50,000 a year at the store and today will be the last day I ever shop there. I went to get propane yesterday and they said they wouldn't because there was storms in the area came back today then they told me they wouldn't do it again. There is no storms in the area at all. It's just cloudy and overcast. The redheaded kid in the yard was rude and disrespectful from the beginning and I've had a lot of disrespect from the people in the yard being a rancher, picking up things that I need. read more

This is a pretty cool store. Enter the store and to the left is a wonderful selection of guns and ammo, continue through the store and they have everything one would need for the house, garden, sports, car, bbq, etc.. I was on a quest to get some Meat Church rub for some ribs I was smoking for my sisters birthday. I wondered around the store for a bit trying to find the rubs when I finally broke down and asked for directions (surrendered my man card). "Near the register in the front of the store" says the manager. I scurry up front as if I am afraid others might be in the store to get the last bottles. Luckily they have Holy Gospel and another favorite KC Butt in stock. I purchase both and dart to the regsiter. They rang up my order and I see they charge me a dollar more than what it is advertised for. A whole dollar? Crap, nobody gets away with overcharging me a dollar. The clerk ringing me up is training and needs to bring the manager in to override the sale. This takes awhile, seems like years and finally it is corrected and I am on my way. Big R is a five star store but I had to reduce them to 4 stars for their attempt to overcharge me by 1 whole dollar. WTH, they trying to make their month end on me? I was in the area and decided to check out Big R because I have never been in one. Let's start with the cute little area for customers to have a seat and have coffee. What an amazing concept!! That is very customer oriented. Upon entering, I was greeted by an employee with a smile offering help. I didn't need any at the time as I was just going to browse around, but then found myself wanting to look at their bee supplies. There's always a friendly face wherever you turn so getting help was super easy. I didn't particularly need anything for my hives, but who doesn't like to peruse for potential needs, right??!! Well, they did have hand cranked honey extractors that I have been eyeing. They had a plastic version and the stainless steel with a stand version, but I still need to give it thought because those extractors are not cheap nor do I need one right now. But now, I know where to get one locally. I did need some gardening gloves but I have very small hands and am either a ladies XS or a child's XL, but with different brands, they fit differently. They don't sell ladies XS, but the child's XL fit perfectly and it was less expensive than the ladies gloves. Score!! Not only is the staff super friendly and helpful, Big R also offers free samples of high quality dog food. So love it here! read more

People need to realize that big R is not like Walmart employees at Big R have to learn a lot on the products that they sell what they're used for. Unlike Walmart. Who will hire anybody even if they have no common sense and they don't even try to learn their products. Big R people try very hard to learn the different products, what they're used for, what they carry and so on. So if you go to Big R and you're looking for something specific, you first need to know what you need, what it is for. Because if you don't know then it's kind of hard to explain it to one of the people working there what you actually need. They try very hard to help and they are very knowledgeable. They try hard. The assistant managers make the place great in all the stores, they do so much of the customer service! They support the 4h clubs and other clubs for youth groups and rescues. read more

They are fine if you want clothing. They have no parts to speak of. Nothing a farmer or rancher needs. Sometimes they have nuts and sometimes bolts, rarely do they have both of the same size. THESE ARE CORPORATE STORES AND ARE REQUIRED TO TOW THE COMPANY LINE. Most of the employees know corporate is extremely incompetent. They are just as frustrated as customers but their hands are tied. Tried contacting corporate and they don't care at all. This company is doing its best to go bankrupt. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. If you do go in get what you need and if you are debating about getting it, expect it to not be there next week. Try to be nice to the employees they are just people trying to pay their bills with corporate overlords who force them to do stupid stuff. Since then, I've returned many times and have been overall very pleased with their friendly staff and competitive pricing. I now go there regularly for fencing and feed. I can say my first visit in this store and we were approached and asked by every team member who passed if we needed assistance. Even had one gentleman get help from another on our issue. 3 minds are better than 1 so they were able to get us the things we needed and save some $ in the process. As a resident of falcon and an owner of a construction company and horse boarding facility this location should be a frequent stop for me and last year I spent a significant amount of money with them. After a year of going in several times a week and knowing each manager by name I'm disappointed at the simple lack of recognition. I decided to take my business to tractor supply for all major implement, farm and feed needs when I was refused a price match to tractor supply. Tractor Supply wants my business and tries to earn it, the same should go for big r. I will say Jonathan at the cash register and phones and I believe Megan (or Michelle??) in clothes are awesome and customer service minded. Good job being leaders in your culture, guys. read more

I've spent a ton of money at Big R, an effect of owning horses. Big R has been our go-to source for hay. They have a reliable inventory of grass hay, alfalfa and mix, and always have quality grain products on hand. We've also bought corral panels from Big R; they were able to deliver at quite a distance (about an hour's drive), which eliminated the hassle of hauling the panels ourselves. Only negative (it's small) is that when you're ready to load hay, an employee isn't always available during busier times. read more

I drove an additional 20 minutes to get to this location after I called them from the location off of Powers and Constitution to see if they had an item in stock that was sold out. I needed a heated waterer , or a heated base... SOMETHING to keep my 8 chickens from having their water constantly freezing. The staff member I spoke to didn't even put me on hold to check to see if they had one in stock. I was told with complete confidence that they had "plenty". So, I made the trip excited that my girls will finally have some relief. After wandering around the store for 30 minutes, without any one asking to help me or even being in my line of sight, I actually stood in line at the cashier stand just to have them radio for help and to be told that they had sold out of what I wanted days ago. Horrible, and shows a complete lack of pride in their work or integrity that they strive to offer their customer. On the plus side.... they have guns and stuff... so.... The End. read more

I just noticed that Big R charges a 1.9% PIF (public improvement fee) on purchases. This goes to repair their parking lot and snow removal etc. I hadn't noticed it because the fee amount is listed at the bottom of the receipt where sales tax is listed and then the amount is included in the total sales tax line on the receipt. IT IS NOT SALES TAX. The City/County/State doesn't get this fee. So, after 18 years of shopping there I will no longer shop there. I'm not paying a fee that is on top of their profit margin so they can fix their parking lot. That is a cost of doing business. read more

I hate to give this store a 1 star only because the employees out in the yard really bust butt. They take my ticket, treat me with respect, and get my trailer loaded in no time flat. When you go inside the store it's like you stepped into a whole new world. The employees inside are LAZY as all hell! They'll walk right past and not even acknowledge you, let alone ask you if you need any help. The girls at the front registers are always gabbing with each other. Employees are not personable and not long ago I was looking for a specific ammunition. I called the store and asked if they carried this specific gauge, brand and type. The employee that answered first said they didn't know if they carried it. I asked if there was anyway that they could check. I was placed on hold for a few minutes. When the employee came back on the line I was told that they had it. So I made the trip to the store and guess what. They didn't have the brand let alone the gauge. Very disappointing. I will not return to the Peyton Big R (or any store in Colorado that charges that TAX), because of the 2.32% pif I was charged, what a load, Public improvement fee is not suppose to boost your profit margin and it does exactly that, by charging me extra for improvements that you are suppose to pay for using your profits, you have boost you bottom line because now that money that was going to be used for improvement now lines your pockets. read more

This store is hit or miss half the time they have what you need and half the time they don't and you end up going to town anyway ,My wife and daughter stopped there tonight and were in the store 10 minutes and came outside and someone hit my daughter's car and did a lot of damage parked right at the front door and no one saw anything .Asked to check there security video and they said they did not have any yet I can cameras all over the place .So if our cars are not safe there I worry my family is not safe . We moved to Peyton, CO 3 years ago and frequent the Big R in Falcon for various things. Always a good experience. But on our last visit we browsed through the clothes and found a heavy, lined, flannel shirt for my husband on sale. We bought two. They fit very nice and looked nice and were very warm. He wore one right away and I hung one in the closet for later. They were so nice, I went back and bought one with a hood attached for a bad winter. When I washed the shirt - in cold water and cool dry as directed - the shirt shrunk up so bad, my husband looked like Baby Huey with the now short shirt and buttons possibly putting someone's eye out if they popped off. The material actually shrunk up in an odd bubble fashion. So I bagged all 3 shirts up and headed back to Big R in Falcon. They accepted the two unworn shirts for refund, but said the washed one was on us! The manager said that was their policy. I asked how one would know that the shirt was defective before it had been washed. He shook his shoulders. So the long story turned short when I returned home with the shirt, took the buttons off and put it in the dog house for warmth. Unfortunately, Big R lost a customer over $16.99! Not very good customer service policy for a defective product not the fault of the customer!! We will probably return to Big R to shop for other items, but never again for any clothes item that needs to be washed before a defect appears and then too late to return. I give the store managers props for addressing the main problem they had - customer service. Now the employees are helpful! They still have trouble keeping everything in stock, but at least I can get help now and not walk around for a half hour without seeing anyone. They carry both Purina and Nutrena, and a fairly good selection of dog food; from farm grade to premium grain-free. However, half the time they don't have what I need so I end up driving into Colorado Springs to go to Home Depot or Lowe's anyway.
